the real question is what do you want to see from Ren next? Storytelling? Hi Ren, Jenny & Screech (full). Rapping? Losing It, Power, Genesis, The Hunger, sooo many more. Singing? Chalk Outlines (live), How to be Me (live). the rabbit hole is more of a treasure chest. I challenge you to find something by Ren you don't like or a collaborator who isn't also fire!.

Don't forget Ren's band, "the Big Push" - songs like, "War Pigs" (mashup of Black Sabbath and Rage Against the Machine) and I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop). Ren is just crazy talented and a great rabbit hole to go down.

Ren is a true music artist. If you wanna see something you never see before it's Ren- Hi Ren, it pretty much something nobody has ever seen before.

"Hi Ren" will blow your mind. Lol I believe Ren likes to think of himself as a modern day Bard. Which is something I never knew I needed in my life but Ren showed me I did. He's a powerful artist. 🙂 #bardcore 🤘🎸🔥

REN maybe one of the greatest artists of our time. He can rap, sing,play instruments all at the highest level. Not only that but he understands where the music comes from. This is why he can sing Bob Marley, rap with the influence of the Beastie Boys, and the create a masterpieces like Hi Ren. There is NO ONE out there that can do what he is doing.

I gotta say... most of us discovered Ren through "Hi, Ren" and then that spiraled out into us seeing his rap game outside of his "Bardcore" style. For you to stumble upon his rap game and not having seen "Hi, Ren" or "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" is setting you up for one hell of an experience. The kid is a fucking phenom. Someone who has found a way to emote the zeitgeist.

Ren is breaking genre boundaries and creating something new. He does it all: rap, reggae, ballads, storytelling, spoken word poetry, rock 🤯 You cant go wrong with any of his tracks. But just to prove your thesis about him listening to older stuff right, I would recommend What You Want 😉

"Hi Ren" is his song that went viral, it's a visual performance as much as it is musical, and deep on both fronts. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorites which showcases his singing ability. "The Hunger" is another favorite when it comes to his ability to rap. That's the tip of the iceberg

Re: rap - yes, he does love 90’s rap but he makes it modern. He amazes many with his many flow switches, more evident on a couple of his other rap. He also can triple time. Being independent, he experiments like crazy and has fun doing it.

The more you research about Ren the more his lyrics and such make sense. "Illest of Our Time" is a double entendre. He's dealt with heavy mental issues, currently is getting treated for Lyme disease, etc. "Hi Ren" is a track where he touches on some of these things, but in a very theatric and unexpected way, especially if *this* is your introduction to Ren! And as others have said, dude's a musical genius. He is a helluva singer, guitarist, rapper, beat maker, he does it all.

You will not be the same after listening to Ren. He is a whole genre on his own. He cannot be labeled. Have fun down the rabbit hole. It goes far and wide, full of twists and turns. Oh yay, a NEW Ren reactor. I subbed of course, liked AND turned notifications on. Now that is out of the way. I always find it interesting when reactors start at this point in the Ren evolution. It's not bad, it just makes for a different perspective. Hi Ren, is the video that basically announced Ren to the world. It was released December 15th of LAST year. It just hit 10 MILLION view a week or so ago. Illest Of Our Time came out March 29th. Already, has 1 mil. So, what you just saw was but one side of Ren. There are MANY. React to Hi Ren next. Ordinarily, I would just say go watch it. But, I'm being selfish and WANT to SEE how it affects you and your thoughts.

It's a problem.. I think a support channel is going to be necessary... Seriously, for a second, tho. It's the best thing to watch. And I am not that person usually, but there is something about that journey. I have to curate the perfect 3 or four song list when I show pp I start with a song that is aligned with what they listen to. ( I go with a big push busking song because there is a song for EVERY geneation and style. ). Then I go. losing it. Because the video is so fun Then either chalk outlines or genesis ( live one take) Then HI Ren... as the finale. It's a whole ass thing. a 20 min ride around their mind. It's fun.

The pig mask is a common theme throughout Ren's work, he is a huge fan of George Orwell's Animal Farm and the pig symbolises corporate greed. As well as Ren's solo work check out his band The Big Push, his collaborations with Sam Tompkins, Eden Nash, Bibi, Liv Sangster and of course the incredible Chinchilla who is another hot artist beating the independent trail after a nightmare experience within the record industry. Ren himself had a golden future ahead after he was signed by Sony at 19 but they dropped him when he became ill with what many years later was diagnosed as Lyme disease. He is currently in Canada receiving specialist treatment for the damage done by a late diagnosis. Ren is a multi talented musician, he plays guitar, bass guitar, drums, cello, the marimba and piano. He is an outstanding lyricist capable of linguistic acrobatics and produces all his own beats. He is genre defying and his music is as diverse as it is vast. His mother is a music teacher and has done some acting, his father helps to rehabilitate prisoners through drama which has clearly influenced Ren's musical performance abilities and stage presence. I'd recommend ANY Ren song but for me it's the Money Game pt1 and pt2 for serious or Love Music pt1, pt2 and pt3 for pure fun. Many suggest Love Music pt3 because it is such a blast but I think all parts need to be heard in order as they gradually pick up tempo. New sub, I'm here for the ride 👍

Even the title is a double entendre - "Illest of our Time". He's spent 10 years severely ill with Lyme's disease and autoimmunity. He's receiving treatment in Canada right now. He's firing warning shots in this one and making sure everyone takes notice. Nice to see him showing some attitude and confidence, being a little braggadocious. I Love it. "I, want to spread these tattered wings, hold 'em high, banished from the heavens but I'm knocking on the sky"......FIRE!!!! He did a live stream right after the video dropped (on Twitch), and to see his genuine, emotional reaction to how many reaction channels had already posted videos within an hour of the songs release, was truly heartwarming. He shares his soul. This young man deserves every bit of love , support, and success he's finally getting. I couldn't be happier for him, especially for someone so talented, so driven, and without question, someone who has been forged through fire. Love this kid! Fan for life. You need to watch "Hunger" and "Losin' It" if you want to see him spitting bars with multiple flow changes, even more than in this one. If you like some old school you need to watch "What you want", Beastie Boys style and super catchy, also shows a bit if his lighter more humorous side. It'll get stuck in your head.

The something eles you hear in Ren is he has a very strong Island influence that comes thru alot of his music. Ren is currently in Canada receiving treatment for LYME disease which was misdiagnoses when he was a kid 16 I think that went on until recently causing brain damage and Auto Immune Disorders and Psychosis started setting in causing him to lose a contract deal with Sony which is a blessing in disguise.
