This Beautiful Saxophone is Only $500!?

Tianjin Shengdi Music sent me a Singer's Day alto saxophone and it looks great! I really like the look of the bell and the mother-of-pearls. My sax collection is steadily growing...

My soul:
Gone
Whoa... I didn't mean to go that deep.
Sorry for the dark turn.
I still have my soul... I think?
Haha I am just messing with you!
It's definitely gone.
Wow, you actually read the description?
I am very impressed.
There is still 25 minutes left to uploading this video.
You know what that means? It's time to ramble.
Rambling kills time.
Once this is up, I can sleep in peace.
KZread is very time consuming!
But, I love it.
I am not sure if there is anything I'd rather do.
Though, I wouldn't mind being a saxophone professor!
But we got a while to go before I can even think about that.
Other than that, yeah I wouldn't rather do anything else lol.
Except like, tour in a band with my brother.
Wouldn't that be awesome? Saxologic X ZackGrooves.
It will happen one day. Mark my words.
What do you think of the format of this video?
I took a bit of a different approach. It's more straight-to-the-point, allowing me to have a shorter video with more edits.
But it's hard to tell what people want. Do people want short, compactly edited videos? Or my classic style of videos? Or short loosely-edited videos?
I'm sure a mix of all, but I always feel guilty posting 20+ minute videos. I feel like most people don't feel like watching that. I thought the Chad LB video of us playing Smash would be a hit. It probably would have been if it wasn't 40+ freaking minutes.
If this newer style is preferred, that is good news for me, because it would take a lot less time.
Hey guess what?
Since you're one of the elites that is actually reading this far, I'll take it that you are 0.0001% of people. YOU are special.
Because of this, I'll give you... my secret Instagram account.
It is: / sheddbro
In this account, I just post videos of me shedding (practicing).
Why do I keep it secret, you ask?
Well, truth is, fame scares me!
My playing is not at a point where I am ready to broadcast it to tens of thousands of people. It's just not.
But the Mario Kart lick shoved me into the arena anyway so now I don't really have a choice.
In any way I can, I try to be as private as I can, as I carry on in the practice room, hoping for the day that I am ready to go all out.
Going for big views scare me! But it pays... so it's a constant tug of war.
It's easy to think of viral video ideas. I could make a Tik Tok and play the Mario Kart Lick in various stores/settings, do an Omegle video playing licks for people, or make 999 Classical/Jazz Snob episodes, etc...
But that would mean more eyes on me. That terrifies me. I like views for the $, but, the more and more that time goes on, the value of money really declines.
Money does not bring you happiness. It's so true. I finally understand.
But KZread is my literal job so I can't like, stop. lol
And I don't really want to stop either. I love KZread! I have been a KZread fiend for over 13 years now.
Remember when Smosh was number 1? And then Fred came out of no where and beat them to 1 mil? Then NigaHiga beat Smosh too? LOL
Now Smosh has turned into crap. Literally wtf has it become? It became so bad that Anthony Padilla left. Can't blame the guy.
Boxmannnnn. Box maaaaaan!!!!!
7 minutes of upload time left. Wow this rambling is working!!!!
If you have read this far... please comment what kind of videos I make are your favorite? That way I'll keep in mind what you guys prefer when I am brainstorming for more vids!
Sometimes I write subliminal messages like: "If you see this, comment '2222,'" which is cool for a moment then I realize 50% of my comments are 2222 and I'm like oh no what have I done?
Whoa, take a look at that '2222,'" up there. So many little markings. Imagine an alien race discovering our writing, and they see stuff like that. How long would it take them to break it down and understand why I put all those apostrophes? Would they ever truly understand without our teaching? It's hard to say.
3 minutes left!!!!
Wait a second I forgot to make a thumbnail LOL
Let me go do that.
All right, you elite human specimen. Thank you for reading.
Take care of yourself. Don't stay up late. It's bad for you!!!!! :D

I love your videos because you inspire me to practice! I started playing trumpet 6 months ago and I've progressed very quickly (also because my first instrument was the piano) in learning because watching you tackle difficult licks makes me think as a beginner, if this guy who has been playing saxophone for a really long time is struggling with this lick, it's perfectly fine for me to struggle with an (easy) Jazz Standard. P.S. I totally relate to your video description, my lecturer is a Sax genius whose played with a lot of great Jazz players around the world and the first time I recorded alongside him for a very easy song, I was literally trembling as he was listening to me play trying not to mess up. Eyes add pressure but you are my inspiration and keep going! (Thank you for the elite compliment!)

I checked out the website. The website states the following: "Expanded the bell to 128mm allows you to produce a bigger sound with a core that is full of rich overtones." Assuming there isn't a one-off issue like having pad leakage or needing the pad heights adjusted, if they expanded the bell, that seems like a likely culprit why the low notes are out of tune, which means its a fundamental design flaw with the Sax. Wow!

So glad to hear that! I’ve been really hesitant on straying from my usual video style. Slowly evolving

Any chance you could do a video on Bb fingerings? So far the best book I've found is the ancient tome, De Ville "Universal Method for Sax". I get really confused about which fingerings to use for speedy passages in e.g. B or F# major. I'm transcribing Dexter Gordon's "Love for Sale" solo a semitone up (on tenor, so in G# minor), and all the rapid left hand movement on G# melodic minor is giving me a serious carpal tunnel flair up. Yet when you look at Charlie Parker's fingers he's like a hummingbird gracefully pecking a flower, no tension at all, and he played some awkward passages involving the Bb. I reckon he was extremely adept at using the side Bb key. Are some keys just always going to be a pain? I started to follow Greg Fishman's "always just slide on/off the bis key" method several years ago, but I think it's generated the problem - it's a really awkward wrist movement. Do you use the forked F# fingering at all? I find I automatically reach for it B and F# major.

How does this compare to the $250 sax from a few months ago? How are the intonation issues with this sax compared to the overall playing experience with the $250 one?
