Take them barracudas cut it into about 4-inch chunks and use that for bait I've used many of them whole bigger than the one you caught for live bait

When I have been Spot Locked with my trolling motor when hammering the fish around those Key Bridges I have offered kayak fishermen the option of throwing a line over my boat’s stern cleat so they don’t get so beat up peddling or trying to anchor in the current. It’s fun seeing fellow fisherman catching fish and making memories they will never forget. I run a silver Triton SF21 with a 200hp Honda and y’all are welcome to hang on. Be well.

Hey Justin, good video as always. Just wanted to say that the fish you caught at 5:50 was a species of grunt and not a snapper. They can be used as bait. I know it’s hard to tell the difference with the multitude of different inshore snapper species and all the different colors and patterns, but the way you can tell the difference is that grunts tend to have a slightly longer and more narrow jaw. They also tend to have orange on the inside of their mouths, and they don’t have teeth like snapper do. You can also see in your video how the grunts mouth doesn’t curve up on the bottom jaw as much as the other snapper in the video do. If you try to do some species research for future identification, I’d just try to get a basic understanding of the general characteristics and differences between snapper and grunts as there are probably just as many species of grunt as there are snapper.

I originally caught this video when I was turning in, and needless to say i fell asleep. I got caught back up to know. I really enjoyed it, and what a souvenir to bring home a 10/0 hook home getting straighted out like that is impressive. If anyone on the KZread deserves some self time for fishing and enjoy yourself without worrying about all the video stuff you definitely do. Sorry it took so long to get caught back up and leave you a comment. It's been a little crazy working, getting vehicles ready for the winter weather, and it getting dark at 5:30 so hopefully nothing goes wrong. that puts me to wrenching on cold autos. Thanks as always for taking us on these great adventures.

Nice Barracuda, they make excellent shark bait when cut in chunks. Also if you come again next year keep some of those Mayan Cichlids and Oscars from the fresh water for shark bait. They also work great. The one shark that you lost may have been a spinner shark. It was hard to to tell in the video however it looked like when it came up to jump it started spinning. Black tips just jump, spinners jump and spin.

Nice job, the keys are DIFFICULT to fish, especially in the winter. I stayed there for 6 weeks, a week at a time from early fall up to New year. I live in Fl south of Tampa. The Honda bridge has a stronger current than anywhere I have ever seen. I think your 1st day big fish was a ray or a grouper. I'm guessing a grouper bent out that hook. After watching a LOT of fisherman and struggling myself I will give you my tips. Get a chum bag and let it draw the fish in. Get some squid and the biggest Sabiki rigs you can find. I liked no name key and Spanish key the best myself. Did get some monster jacks at Honda bridge back on the inside where the walking path is. Big Cuda's are hard to target, I had 1 cut a parrot fish (4lbs) in half. I threw the rest of the fish out and he would not touch it. They like live distressed live fish. Duck key bridges do well also. It's all tide and how you can present your bait, that is really is the biggest challenge getting that window. Be SAFE, it is hostile out there. That was a painful shark, I am NOT a shark fan.
