Having Yale on the resume automatically makes it good
YOOO! Was looking up some videos of FAANG Internships and came across this video, immediately recognized your channel since I watched your videos on the common app and SAT subject tests over 4 years ago! It's crazy to see how the time has passed, back then I was just a high school sophomore studying for the SAT, now I'm at Duke looking for FAANG internships! Always glad to see your videos!
I legit wanna be friends with this man! He's the type of guy that enjoys what hes doing because of passion, not due to do "im force to do it" type of mindset and not many have that.... I hope we can actually meet and be friends one day!

But he never did any projects out of self interest
I am earlier than ever to one of your videos. I have begun watching you during my freshman year of high school, and now I am a college sophomore. Just seeing that even you have felt some sense of insecurity while applying for internships despite your alma mater in a way feels refreshing and organic. Thank you for keeping it real with us :)

that's so awesome to hear!
I remembered my business exploration class taught us how to write a resume. It was harder than I thought, but I end up getting a decent score on the resume final. I learned one thing from this assignment is that IF FORMAT IS WRONG, YOU FAIL.
"this bad resume..." *proceeds to tell us that he graduated from Yale

tech companies don’t really care about what school you go to. much more concerned with what projects you have created and your technical skills. which is why many no name school graduates get jobs at faang
Hi mr Josh it has been a while. Will you post an update on where you have been. If possible. And how has your semester been going so far. I know how mines was. But yeah. Great to hear an update if possible.
from now on we can all call you joshua
Great video man I'm kinda at a similar place (in terms of junior/senior in university) Not much work experience or side projects (though i'm working on a couple using python primarily and learning kotlin for app dev) It feels reassuring to see that if I just suck it up and update my CV and just try get my foot at the door I can make it too Once again, great vid!

Professional magician, eh? Right on!
I had a better resume got rejected by everything I bet that Yale brandname made it really good
I have the same resume format lol. Found the template on overleaf.
Yo your from Herndon I live 20 mins away. Love your content!
What font is on this resume? It looks really nice

I believe it's just the default font style on LaTeX
Could you make a follow up showing what you think is good now and what you think is important if this one is not so good

definitely!
I respectfully don't agree with KZread content creation being a negative to put on the resume. Having an audience that you talk to on a regular basis with an appreciable number of subscribers means that you have good communication skills, and that you would work well with a team or at least communicate your thoughts effectively.

^ I'm definitely still split on whether I would include it on a future resume!

@@JoshBeasley Fair enough, it could work out badly sometimes. The experience you have right now probably would not require you to put it on future resumes either.
As a former hiring manager in tech industry, your resume is solid. The experience and education is important for the recruiter and the things like KZread creator and magician are important for the manager. You’re right once the hiring manager gets it they don’t care too much about the experience section. If you don’t have the experience for the resume to get to their desk their issue is with the recruiter. The things that make you, you are what’s important to them. The conversation starters. The things they can ask you about, the things that make you stand out is what is important to them.

Hey Scott. When you hired people, did you look at what college they attended? Does it matter what college you go to?

@@mr.anonymous6098 a school like Yale would have stood out. I was on the non-technical side (program management), but I didn’t get a lot of Ivy leaguers. Mostly regional universities and outside of having an alumni connection or some other connection school didn’t really stand out. More conversational starter for those I had some sort of connection with.
lmao me putting final projects i did in my math and cs classes in the projects section 🤡
