Honestly incredible that he made such an intricate cityscape in so relatively little time. And of such quality that it rivals professional LEGO designers.
Absolutely amazing, truly astonishing work I’m floored by the detail! I understand the use of glue
This is INSANE !!!! Astonishing!
Amazing job, Rocco! 👏
i see the special pieces allowing for a higher level of detail. great work.

I think some steps would be a little too repetitive , and this is way too big , but maybe a small part of it as a set would be cool

@@alxssiaap1719 Yeah, I'm afraid especially the big show pieces i.e the Circus maximus and the Flavian amphitheatre, would be a tad bit repetitive. But just one or two city blocks, a temple, an aqueduct and maybe a greek theatre... That'd be great! Though that alone might make for a price tag to make you wince.

Why wouldn’t he? This display is (presumably) going to be shown at _several_ venues. Without glue the display would probably fall apart. This is true of a lot of the displays you see at other events.
Я просто не понимаю как они это делают😲

Custom made pieces; for when you can't do it with the real stuff. Rope and so is fine by me. But fake pieces that don't exist in LEGO means you might as well just make a model from paper, plastic, toothpicks etc. It still looks ridiculously amazing, unbelievably detailed and accurate...but just like a matchstick model isn't really a matchstick model if you build it on top of a metal frame, no matter how impressive it looks, it loses some of the specialness the moment you have to cheat. Even if it is a small stain, even if this is greater than most of us will ever make, it's a little thing that does a lot of damage to the image. It's not a LEGO recreation, it's a recreation using plastic building materials, including LEGO and other stuff.

Why can't real buildings be rebuilt in Rome? Why are there ruins there? Rebuilt buildings would look great.
@Rum-Runner
Ай бұрын
Because rebuilding them means they lose all value they have as archaeological sites. We wouldn’t be able to gather any more knowledge from them, which I would say is of considerably more worth than having something visually pleasing to look at.
@PiotrJaser
Ай бұрын
@@Rum-Runner There is no value in ruins. Knowledge? What else don't worthless ruin lovers know about the ruins they've spent so many years exploring?
@Rum-Runner
Ай бұрын
@@PiotrJaser There is A LOT of value in ruins. The stones you refer to as ruins are the same stones that built an empire over a thousand years ago. There are plenty of archaeological teams in and around Rome that are CONSTANTLY making new discoveries about their sites. Just because YOU don’t know about it doesn’t mean it’s not happening. These sites are much more valuable in the state they are in now, otherwise they would have been rebuilt already.
@PiotrJaser
Ай бұрын
@@Rum-Runner Sorry, but that's bullshit. Everything is a matter of decisions, norms and adopted principles. Just because you set something for yourself doesn't mean that others have to agree with it. In many places, other people have determined otherwise. For example, they rebuild castles from ruins, otherwise there will be a pile of stones that will be overgrown with weeds. Everything is a matter of accepted principles. Some pray to Zeus, others to Yahweh. Ruins have no value for me personally. They will be in even worse shape in another 500 years if no one does anything about it.
@Rum-Runner
Ай бұрын
@@PiotrJaser But again, your visual pleasure comes at the stake of a literal trove of knowledge that would otherwise be lost. It’s not a matter of what fringe beliefs you hold, the vast majority of archaeological sites _WORLDWIDE_ are kept in the state they are found in for the exact purpose of gleaning priceless information from them. And saying that every archaeological site is otherwise “a pile of stones overgrown with weeds” is simply incorrect. Most sites, depending on how well-funded they are, are often well-maintained and preserved. This is because, again, we want to keep them in the state they were found in.
Amazing
