I didn't realize the level of detail is incredible down to mirroring of the LCD is very impressive. It made my day when you jumped into my live podcast to say hi the other day. 😀

Really nice review. I got an email from Numskull last week saying mine should ship within the next few weeks. I own every release they have to date but this one really seems to up the design ante. Looking forward to playing mine next month.

I like the additional cheat/dip settings. Really helps change up the experience.

I would really like to build the full size replica of each machine with the smaller replica used to run the full size arcade. Something I'm looking into and see what I can do.

Gotta be honest, I never really liked Space Invaders growing up as a kid. It seemed a bit vanilla. But seeing the way Numskull brought these quarter scales to life is freaking amazing!! The black light and 3D perspective is something I thought they were gonna omit but after seeing the reviews I had to buy both this game and Space Invaders II (which is definitely LESS vanilla). Hoping they bring the same level of quality to the sequel. Thanks for making a review video on this!!!

Thanks for the brief review hitting all the key points. Unlike other reviews who drag it out who try to hit that magical 10 minute mark.

I just recently bought my first retro mini item. I got the M90 boombox from New Wave Toys and I absolutely LOVE it. I keep wanting to get an arcade cab from them or Numskull but neither has yet to do a big favorite arcade game of mine.

Your videos are always great.

Space Invaders was my parent's generation. And I'm 42 years old. Not sure my senior citizen uncles would want one. Maybe? lol

Home versions of Space Invaders was cool. But none of them capture the arcade look and feel. Even the 90's remakes with the moon background are not the same. The depth and feel, and thump-thump, thump-thump with that satisfying impact sound. Plus, the arcade buttons were a pleasure to use.

Thanks Numskull for the updater, for fun I have Space Invaders 2 on my Space Invaders 1, how about a image for Lunar Rescue, which I have my full size arcade machine

Awesome review Ralph. Surprised they were able to replicate everything on such a small scale. I would spend the $600 for one but first, must save up for Pinball Expo 2024. 😁

I wsh Numskull would make Centipede, Asteroids, Tempest, and Frogger. Those were the original classics.

Stupid question probably, but if it’s 1/4 scale, four stacked on top of each other should be the same height as the original cabinet? It just doesn’t look that big?

It’s 17.3” tall so x4 = 69.2” tall. Typical midway cabinet of that era is about 70”-72” tall (depending on caster height) so it’s close but not exactly 1/4 scale I suppose.

The dips are a nice touch. I have the first cab they put out pac man. Changing settings was done by uploading special versions of the firmware which was stupid. I wish they would fix that. I am impressed they used the same techniques as in the original arcade. Thats probably why its $300.

I totally understand! Sometimes the price can be a major factor in our purchasing decisions. But hey, maybe there will be a sale or discount in the future, you never know. I will say this, these are significantly larger than what new wave toys offers, so I think that plays a role since they need more materials to build it. Anyway, I appreciate you checking it out man and I hope all is well down in Mexico!

I don't have any of the numskull products yet ..but do have a good collection of newwavetoys machines.. need to gwt my hands on a couple of these as well.. for a cheaper option myarcade made a deluxe space invaders that has the peppers ghost effect and plays great ..although it's not nearly as nice as this one

@RetroRalph Doing great buddy thanks.! Its the premium edition soace invaders for like $60 that I was kind of impressed with the way it played and having the peppers ghost effect and what appears to be the arcade roms.. worth it for the money in my opinion

The myarcade version has the wrong colours, wrong shaped planet, bleeding UV lighting spots and no glow around the planet.

Hate to burst the bubble. I ordered part 1 and part 2 in the UK from GAME. They cancelled part 1, but part 2 arrived very quickly. Got it home and out of the box, and its beautifully made. Very sturdy and very true to the original. Excitedly switched I on and it lights up as expected and looks fantastic. Until.......you try to actually play the game. The video is way too dim and distant for the bright moon which takes precedence in the foreground. To the point where you can't really see the lower half of the display. Its therefore almost unplayable. So so disappointed with this. I've returned as faulty but as I've not got another to compare I don't know if this is a fault or if this is how they are.

So biting into it like a cheese burger is a no go??

Received Numskull Space Invaders with COIN and ARCADE STOOL... the ARCADE STOOL is made of entirely PLASTIC... cheap... For the amount of money spent on it, would expect better quality... waited 4 years for this ☹ 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎

Space invaders will never be as fun as galaga the price their asking for is way to much UK lost their trees they don’t have to much wood so they want to use plastic dumb excuse to increase the price

This is made from wood. They came out and said that a year ago. Did something change? I have Dig Dug and it's made out solid wood. I have a new wave replicade as well and that is nicely made too.

You should add a speaker bc its not loud enough…..
