This is probably the best reaction I've seen to this album, your reaction to Ordinary is *exactly* what mine was. I had no idea what was happening, my brain was like "this is not the kind of music I listen to, I normally don't like this kind of music, but somehow A7X made this one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard"

This album is the only one that truly left me emotionally destroyed at the end. The amount of introspection and reflection I did while listening was intense. Cosmic was the song that broke me bad and from then on it was. Pun intended, Game Over.

Great Reaction! Metalheads hate it. Musicheads Love it. I think people will love the songs more if they think of the 3 aspects: Music, Concept, Lyrics Love how they are heavily circling around Absurdism and Existentialism. Here are my short overview for each song. These can still be expounded upon as the lyrics have multiple layers to them : 1. Game Over - Meaninglessness of Life 2. Mattel - Reference to the Truman Show. Simulation/Illusion but in reality everything is predefined. Much like a continuation to The Stage album concept 3. Nobody - Realization that we are "one with the universe" and a "nobody" in the grand scheme of things 4. We Love You - Most say it's about capitalism. But I interpret the song as representation of human ego and the illusion of choice. Thinking about it, Capitalists only 'capitalizes' over human ego and greed to 'manufacture a need' (more more more...build build build...we love you...you're on in a million). Without these 2 human qualities they are nothing. Problem is, we cannot separate these 2 qualities to our humanity. Thus, in the end, we consume what they provide regardless. 5. Cosmic - Cycle of Life and Death. The idea that we are all made up of the same cosmic energy - we do not go away. We just take up a new form or has been in a different form in our past lives. Written in beautiful love song 6. Beautiful Morning - A character who faces an inner struggle and attempt to find meaning. This character they are trying to portray in this song is everyone's worst day of their life. 7. Easier - The same character who wants to Surrender. Suggesting to take the 'easy way out'. Uplifting music but sinister meaning between the lines. I interpret the random 'pew pew pew' sounds at the solo that the character has thoughts about taking that gun to the head. Again another cute sci-fi gun sound a contrast to it's meaning. 8. G - Referencing the story of Creation. And an irritated God is contemplating to just wants to delete what he made and restart. 9. Ordinary - Other songs talk about suicide, emptiness, meaninglessness, hopelessness, etc of human life. This song is an attempt to say that "you got a problem with life? I don't even have one and I desperately want it. you must be lucky to live" from an AI (thus the electronic vibe). This song is perfectly placed in the sequence of the album because right after it, the human in the next song commits suicide nonetheless without regard. 10. Death - The same character from 'Beautiful Morning' and 'Easier' in the end commits suicide 11. LIBAD - Closing the curtains Everything is done with intent. It's chaotically beautiful

I fell in love with Avenged on their self title and lived all their 00s stuff. However The stage I thought was massive step up, both music wise and lyrical wise. LIBAD feels like a natural progression from that Album and I love it. Then again I've always loved prog rock and just chaotic music more then full on metal

This isn’t a to each their own situation. The album is fucking marvelous and anyone who thinks it isn’t is simply incorrect.” But somehow, someway I manage to control myself. Oh well, LIBAD, anyway.

@@LorenzoC2314that’s totally fair. Unfortunately though, most of the negatives comments have been completely idiotic so far, have been devoid of any value at all, or have been some variation of, “i don’t like it, therefore it sucks.” Its understandable that its not for everyone, the band even literally said most people wouldn’t like it, but the issue is the haters have mostly shit all over not just the music, but anyone that DID like it.

impressive how quickly you got each song's main references and inspirations (especially cuz some of they are definitely a little bit unexpected)... And I very much think it could be a big reason why you actually liked it on the first listen, as most metalheads tend to at the very least need a few listens to truly appreciate it. Even tho I love Nightmare and like The Stage quite a lot, this is clearly the first album to actually go forward in their ever-going journey (before Jimmy passed) torwards the weird and wacky... It's always been a big part of avenged sevenfold, after all. Tbf The Stage tried, tho it didn't go nearly as far as this album; but I can definitely see how it laid the necessary foundatitons for this project (as, for example, Cosmic is basically Roman Sky - which is also my fav from The Stage - 2). I do think, however, that both of these albums sitll fit in their discography quite a lot, but in more of a "refine what's already there" kind of way (for Nightmare, the production, theatrics, and melodic bridges; while for The Stage both the brand new drum work and Synyster being free to throw it all on pretty much every single solo).

I see too many people mistaking vocoder for autotune. Regardless of your feelings on autotune, they use it like an effects pedal for guitar in this album. It's a decision every single time and they aren't trying to hide it. Like, they don't even tune the main vocals on MOST of the album. It's wild that people see an album titled 'Life Is But A Dream' and think they're going to be in the right place to understand it/appreciate it/just let it happen while maintaining such a surface level feeling about autotune in music. You'd probably be listening to this album by yourself. Baffling to me that some people can't even be comfortable being open minded ALONE.

@@guitarkid9623 Okay?... I'm not sure what that has to do with my comment. I'm just responding to the question posed by the OP, which is why many A7X fans haven't liked this song: the reason is, many A7X fans are metal fans, and this song is not metal. That's not a comment on the quality of the song, or the value of categorizing music into genres in general, it's just an objective description of why this song wasn't necessarily well-received by the A7X community.

@@badwulff yeah I know I worded it weird. It was basically along the lines of what you said. From what I saw from many people, once they realized they weren't going for their traditional route, they stopped looking at the album as a metal album. This allowed them to enjoy the album way more. Its the people who can't cope with the fact that avenged is changing that ruin the album. Its not a metal album in my eyes, yet it doesn't ruin it.

@@guitarkid9623 Oh I see what you mean now. And yeah obviously, I fully agree. In general, I think that it's better when artists don't feel bogged down by the way they're labelled, since music as a whole is always evolving with interactions between various genres and style anyway. And personally, one thing I've loved about A7X from the start is that their music _isn't_ traditional metal, for the most part (from the genre-blending of their self-titled album to the prog-metal evolution of The Stage), so LIBAD was right up my alley.

I respect the hell out of them for being ambitious and trying their hand at something few expected them to and being anything but predictable, but just feel its execution didn't stick the landing and sounds very amateurish at points.
