This Ahmedabad Maze House is Designed to Surprise Visitors (House Tour).

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This house, located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad and inspired by the traditional Maratha Wada, is designed like a maze.
The built and unbuilt spaces trigger curiosity and engagement.
The house reveals itself through a hidden entry, with stairs that might bring you back to your starting point.
It feels like a large haveli with courtyards, spacious rooms, and gathering spaces, yet remains warm, inviting, and filled with stories and emotions.

Intricate brickwork employs new bonds and interlocking geometries to lower construction costs.
New brick bonds emerged by constant experimentation with brick masonry.
The upper floor features expansive rooms, thanks to concrete vaults that reduce vertical elements and bring in natural light.
The playful design uses level differences, courtyards, and verandas to create a natural flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. These open areas breathe life into the house, changing with the light and sounds, and blurring the boundaries between public and private spaces.
This house is a celebration of the "Indian" way of life.
It explores the visible and invisible interactions between people, built forms, and the natural environment.
The design responds to intuition, senses, memories, and the human quest for discovery, creating a space that surprises and delights with every turn.

Effort of architect team is clearly visible, so much design elements & details. Such houses brings experience & peace due to the air, water & light elements.

The concept is wonderful and the house must be very cool for the hot pan that Ahmedabad gets to be in summer. But, there is hardly any colour contrast, making it harder to see any aesthetic points, In fact, the interiors are so dark that you can hardly spot anything despite being well-ventilated because the walls are dark. As the architect rightly said, it is about experience, not so much about visual appeal as about simplicity and mystery. Thieves can't break in easily and those with forgetfulness will have more physical exercise. That does sound like a lot of fun. Also, what an honest architect! He is poetic, and so are his creations!

That was such a sweet gesture of reciting the lines from his Guruji. It welled my eyes as well. I am sure Tarun, Guruji must be very proud of what you've created and will bless you for everything you do in the future as well. Great Job.

This is one of the best projects here. Hats off to the architect and his team for being true to the word 'Sthapathi'. The custom brick bond (Swastik bond) is a genius idea. Doshiji is Guru for so many architects including me and I could feel those words as if Guruji is talking to us directly.

Sir , with due respect to you and your opinion, an Architect works hard on any and all of his/her projects . You are open to put your opinion but not in the way you did. He has done an amazing job for the clients according to their needs.Maybe you can slide past the video if you did not like or can put your opinions in a nice and mannered way.
