Off topic, but have you ever done a video on Cherry MX's keyboards? I was browsing Amazon for my latest impulse buy and noticed the Bronze Cherry KC 200 MX had a 40% off coupon ... I had already hit buy before I thought to look for a review, and then realized that I haven't really seen any of the big name Key-Tubers cover Cherry boards.

Don't inhale the copium because you dropped $300 on your build, but instead, be VERY glad the Rainy75 exists. It gets people into the hobby without the unnecessary headaches of finding in-stock keycaps, reluctantly paying for overpriced barebones kits or the "fun activity" of find that solder joint that just fried your microcontroller. Hopefully there will be more options like the Rainy75.

This board doesn’t appeal to anyone who spends 3-4 digits on keebs. Trust me. No one’s coping. Quit using that word. This seems great for for someone who has zero boards, low income, and minimal concern for build quality/longevity. It’s a standard wedge 75 with normal sound. No one’s mad they bought a premium board years ago because another Chinese cash grab clone board came out. 😂

That's exactly right. I myself try to grab whatever the latest drop is for my first board and cannot even get into the hobby because nothing is ever available and even with these useless hipster-long waiting lists they still just never ship enough units. I'm stuck on a Keychron and am having no fun with the switches soldered. Key wobble is awful

As a Linux-User ... VIA is pretty much a requirement for me. I hate that big companies can not be bothered to support Linux, or opensource their protocols so at least the community can jump in. I love that Via and the standard it represents is taking a strong hold on enthusiast boards. (tbf, the overlap between enthusiast and linuxuser is prolly a lot bigger then you razer-gamer and linuxuser). But thanks for mentioning that, it really helps us linux people to find what we want.

It gets way more useful if you start to dig into custom boards like split-boards that reduce keys.

Nice entry, both versions are attractive, stock violets with foam and without. Just different in how they are sounding. It's also nice new builds are produced made of full metal in lower than usual prices. Which latter means that the status of elaborated metal being "better" and more qualified than plastic or other, has more been one issue of manufacturing process and marketing strategy than one practical daily necessity. Using now three different keyboards, only one carries an aluminum case and is a scissor switches one, a Satechi Slim X1 of 69 euros purchase a few years ago. Good job btw.

@Doby-xc1le Unicomp is a spun-off IBM factory that produces various variations of the Model M buckling-spring keyboard, generally considered the unbeatable top tier of the budget keyboard world as they have a *significantly* better keyfeel and tactility (and for some people, better accuracy and typing speed as a result) over MX-type switches, and pretty decent build quality too. Their current flagship board, the New Model M, has a brand-new tooling and only costs $125 fully assembled, but none of their boards really cost any more than that.

As someone who has spent easily over 1k eur on just 2 keyboards, I absolutely hope they can deliver on everything they promise. More competition is always great for the consumer. I've also been recommending people keyboards a lot and it can sometimes be really difficult to find something that caters to their preferences, especially when they want something that isn't your avg budget 60% / 65%. It would make for an absolutely beautiful recommendation for the 75% / TKL range for newcomers. Also I think they mainly only went with linears because tactiles can be so different. For example, I love heavy tactiles (WS Heavy Tactile / White Jades for example) but I really don't like medium / light tactiles. I also know a lot of people love medium or light tactiles, but find heavy tactiles too fatiguing. They probably couldn't give people too many options (possible logistical nightmare) and also didn't really know which tactile to go with? I think the ideal option would be something like Durock T1 or equivalent, which is a medium tactile and should have a wide enough appeal for tactile enjoyers but I don't know for sure. Linears are pretty safe on the other hand. The biggest difference when it comes to people's taste is just spring weight, the rest is pretty minute (long pole vs short pole / material / sound etc) I tried a lot of linears and while I've had some I liked more than others, there weren't really any I thought felt bad unless they had actual quality issues. Either way, great video and I wish these guys both success and hope they will deliver on their promises.

I bounced around from the kailh box white, jade, blue, and navy, then to the original glorious pandas (which were started failing after 9 months, and required a full press to register) and finally just got some Red Dragon Bullet-F Wukong and WOW these are my favorite so far. Super smooth, medium weight (63g peak) no click but a very definite and immediate tactile bump with no pre-travel (which I love). The image on their site has the pressure/actuation points backwards, but it seems perfect. Also, the 3mm bottom makes for faster typing vs. common 4mm switches. Best of all, they're dirt cheap and I believe pre-lubed. I'm going to try their QT-lime which has a touch of pre-travel, lighter weight, softer bottom, and an earlier actuation point for my next build. I've heard great things about those too for speed typing.

I think you might have forgotten to mention that the Pro version has an FR4 plate instead, making the sound test not a fully accurate comparison between just the switches. I knew FR4 versions existed, but I didn't know they were moving forward with making that the default for the ones with steel weights. Extra plates are listed on their website, but I hope those are available for the kickstarter because if not that really eliminates the Pro model for me. I'll buy both plates, but if I'm stuck with just one I want the soft and RGB-friendly polypropylene.

The more expensive switches still sound nice, but more like nice ABS dominoes on a paper towel covered wood veneer table. No foam gives it a nice old school sound, but it definitely loses the premium tone. Just case foam makes it sound more like most mid range mechanical keyboards I think. Overall seems like an awesome keyboard for the money.

Following the videos I did the tape and the foam mod and it had already started sounding better with the blue switches. I then decided to get some akko switches and went with the silver pro v3. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that they were 5 pin instead of the 3 pin switches. So then I had to mod all of the switches to make them fit since I don't live in the States and returning them would have been too much of a hassle. All of the switches work and I am really glad with the thocky sound that it has now.

I think the Rainy 75 falls into the same category as GamaKay TK75 ($89). Although I would have liked the Gamakay TK75 to have a special backplate. It is just plain. Build quality is solid. Tactile switch options such as the Pegasus switches and truly silent/quiet. Out of the box, it is nearly perfect without any modifications. It does exactly what it set out to do and as advertised. Glad to see great options right out of the box for those that want to ease their way into customizing mechanical keyboards.

I don’t think it’s been in stock yet, they’re probably still busy fulfilling orders from the pre order. Give it a few more months and hopefully it’ll be in stock.

What I'd like to see from Wobkey: a 60/65% option, less flex cuts or stiffer board in general, a straight white base, more customization!

I've never had a Kickstarter from a brand that already makes things fail to ship. It's a great way to judge how popular it might be and reach an audience who might never see it on Amazon.

I've been using this keyboard for about 2 months now (purchased from Iconlabs back in December), and it's incredible for a pre-built $100 keyboard. The HMX Violet switches were pretty well factory lubed along with the stabilizers, so it just sounds and feels great stock if you like the marble sound and dont mind very little flex.

The rainy 75 is a beautiful keyboard and a joy to use. There is one large drawback: the switch for wireless/wired mode is on the PCB and the only way to access it is to remove the CAPS key. This would be manageable, except that the board doesn't charge when in wireless mode- only in wired mode. So if I want an uncluttered desk I need to also keep a keycap puller on hand to pull the key, flip the switch and plug in a cable whenever I want to charge it... and then reverse those steps to clear my desk again... a big pain. If anyone can work out how to mod it to get the switch on the outside (or apply some firmware patch that would let it charge while in wireless mode) that would be amazing!

The height of the keycaps and bezels on this are lower and smaller than the Zoom 75, to me that is a HUGE plus from a typing standpoint as I don't like to use a wrist rest and probably why I use my Neo65 over all the other keyboards I have. In regards to the sound I would guess some louder switches with the foam could really make this sound great as would a higher end keycap set. But for that initial price this looks to be a steal!

I got the blue standard and it finally got here a few days ago. It's very nice for the price I paid and I like the weight a lot better on it than the Pro. KS needed more updates during the process but the end result was worth the frustration.

Ef it, I just signed up for the kickstarter notification & if it launches soon I'll throw it in my office at work where I'm still using a Logi. That bounce is worth keeping an eye on but at sub $100 I could rebuild it & it would be worth the price of the parts if flex was a deal breaker but I'm suspecting its not. Great video man. thx.

as someone who bought the pro version of this keyboard because of this video, it is DEFINITELY living up to the hype. despite shipping delays and lack of communication from Wobkey outside of their discord, i do not regret my purchase even slightly! i bought the SteelSeries 400$ scam keyboard, and the rainy75 is a better experience in every way!

I just watched your thick vs clack video and saw this keyboard and want to buy it but it’s out of stock. I really love the sound of this keyboard prebuilt and it would also be my first ever owned keyboard. I think the only thing I’d change is the keycaps because they aren’t really my taste.

This keyboard is soooo cute! But there's just that little tiny ping sound I don't like which I think you got rid of when you did something to, but I'm not a modder at this point, so I wouldn't do anything like that, but besides that little ping I would buy it in an instant at $99. It matches my set up really well!

For the price, i might just buy a roll of uhmwpe tape for the flex cuts themsleves, then an extra thick tape mod on top(or bottom as the case may be) of that. Should even out the flex a little and still come in cheaper than every other keyboard i own

im currently using this exact keyboard that hippo has (Blue ecoat, HMX switch, chroma glass weight). And i have to tell you this thing is insane, the sound is super super good, the ecoating is really good (im scared to say this but i feel it almost better than the CW88 which is wayyy more expensive), stock stab is a-okay but because the plate is really soft, it flex a tons when i tried to remove the spacebar. Its tri-mode PCB does support VIA which even some big company doesnt do on theirs product (Looking at you QK, TKD), it also have the brightest RGB on any keyboard i have ever used. There are some problems you need to know if you want to buy this tho. The QC is not that great, i bought 2 for me and my friend through taobao and its completely fine but some others experienced bad QC, although the company did change a new one for them. And one thing tho, this thing sold out in like, 3 second when it first got sale on taobao at 11/11 so be sure to buy it quick haha

If you care about productivity and ergonomics more than sound, then the best thing about this board is the option of having a split spacebar. Unfortunately, you'll have to settle for the ISO enter key with the split spacebar option--unless you can somehow alter the plate because I think the PCB itself will support it. You also won't get RGB with the split layout.
