After riding Richfield, Utah, with Sarah earlier this year I got my hopes up HIGH for their newest creation: 18 miles of downhill on a trail called Spinal Tap. This has gotta be good!

🇬🇧Thank you for your commitment Brian! These Awesome videos are the best! Whenever you post i know I'm gonna be Entertained!👍Brilliant Trails Dude!🤘😎🤘
Hey Brian, Kirk here, the guy with the wide 'stache at Over The Edge Fruita, saying thanks for stopping by our shop during your vivit to Western Colorado. One of our mechanics left us to work for the company that built Spinal Tap and he did a fine job! Your vids remain at the top of our list for content & fun factor because your dialog, during your rides, makes it more enjoyable and invites the viewer to feel engaged much more than in a silent video! And, tweaked knees??!!?? Just wait 'til you'er almost eighty yaers old and it happens! I missed a fun ride in New Castle, CO yesterday because of my right knee. The other riders sure enjoyed it though and really earned the decent. Keep up the fine work.

Hey Kirk!! Thanks for the kinds words. Oh man, I can only imagine what kind of tweaks and creaks are going to start up over the next 40 years!!
Stoked our trails made your list!!! They're awesome!
Man, what a great video. I'm already thinking of ways to really attack 2023 and this looks like a place to hit. I look forward to seeing what you do in CO and hopefully you hit some front range trails. I don't think I've ever seen any on your channel.
Bro another great vid! Always turns my day around when you upload, beautiful trail and nice riding! 👌
It's good to know this is out there. I saw Richfield on the map last time I was in Utah. One of these times, I have to bring my bike out west and check out some of these trails.
Some classic BKXC right there. Well done.
Great ride BK...looks like the climb was worth the effort!
Great point about success vs milestones there. Those punishing rides always seem to bring out the philosopher in you 👍
Hay BK! I haven't "heard" you having that much fun on a ride since a long time ago...you didn't stop shouting, laughing & giggling during the whole DH. Great video by the way!
awesome. I've planned a few vaca's and ridden so many trails based on your videos and looks like I have another on my list now. Just need to get to Sedona first before we can do another Fruita/Moab/Richfield trip. Thanks and be well.
I started watching your channel when I was a newbie to MTB and was frustrated all the time doing it. Your chipper, positive attitude was a game changer for me. This video is just another example.
Yeah Brian, great vid. I just did this ride on the way back to CO from Vegas. Except I wasn't crazy enough to do the full tap. Just lower tap for me (plus the upper trails were snowed out). One of the best trails I've ridden. I'll definitely be going back.
I am a subscriber for years, watched probably half of your videos.
Hey Brian! I was on the trail crew for the first 2 years there in Richfield. Me and my crews finished up to One in a pinion and down. Super glad you liked the trail. If you ever come back through I highly recommend the Telegraph trail if you want a challenging downhill ride.
I took the single track up to the road. I had many people pass me also. What a climb. I was advised to skip the very top. Sure glad I did. The bottom 4.5 miles of SpinalTap are awesome. Rode there twice and definitely will go back to ride the rest of the trails
I've lived in richfield for the last 14 years I love that mountain
Awesome black diamond trail!! I think the most intimidating part of that ride was having three bulls on the side of the trail. You made it look so effortless. :)
That looked like the best DH I’ve ever seen…little bit of everything rolled into one. Big props man

Yeah definitely, same thoughts here. I liked that there was a bunch of flowy sections but then also technical bits--and he didn't even hit up every trail!

Our trails are amazing
this was a really nice video to just relax and take in, thank you!
Hey Brian. That was pretty awesome. Great to see that you're still doing it and looking so well. You've come a long way since the days when I was one of you're first subscribers. I'm 75 now and still riding but no mountain bikes any more. I ride mostly on cycle ways and paths but can't do the miles I used to do anymore. I've still got my 'pain and pleasure' t-shirts which I still wear with pride. Keep riding. Best wishes. Des P

Sorry Brian, got your reply but not sure what to do. Bit of an old man here and not up with technology Des P
This was a damn good trial for a downhill ride. Definitely on my list.
Bkxc is the original KZread pov 🐐🤘🏽
Wow, I really need to get down there! Might be out of time for this season... cold creeps in this weekend!
Great to see a old school BKXC joint!
Definitely my favorite vid in a while
Talkin' bout Utah. I been watching the Red Bull Rampage Livestream on KZread. Dude that was the Shit. Hey you picked another great Area to have Fun. Happy Weekend and keep up your fantastic Work. 💯🙏🍀👍🙋♂
WOW THAT WAS A CLIMB! Absolute savage!!!!!
Circa 2019 vibes. Love this video!
Seeing your town on KZread, and seeing people from all over wanting to visit is such a surreal and bittersweet experience. We're proud and want to share.....but it's getting awfully crowded lately lol, hard balance to find

Agreed! Something else to keep in mind while doing MTB is to wear the proper helmet, most helmets have an outdated safety standard, the best ones are the ones that pass the nta standard like xnito or bern hudson
Ridge riding is always the best views.☮️🌵
I was just driving on I-70 last week but didn't know about this area. Next time!
Wow pretty awesome trail. Definitely marking this trail down to shred.

is it actual dispersed camping? legal that is? going there in a week and if those are legit I'll stay there.

@@DannyChough The dispersed camping is open as long as the road is I'm pretty sure. Every time I'm there I see people camping up the road where the water tower is.
I'm impressed you did the lily pad double drop. My last two times there, I've been too chicken to hit it. Great video as always Brian!

I wanted to start a MTB channel, but dang, producing worthy content every week and no money just made no sense. but i love exploring old abandoned mines. Some of the single track miners trails look very fun to ride, maybe one day i will get a go pro and ride to a mine, rather than walk. in any case, yes content worthy vids are a challenge indeed.
I always shuttle richfield but it's one of my favs
JUST SPENT THE WHOLE WEEKEND THERE, I'M HOOKED!
Hey Brian. Nice work hammering out that amazing no-shuttle ride. Have a look at an alternator charger (DC-DC) like the victron orion which charges your accessory battery(s) whenever the engine is running?
ohhh my God beautiful place..mountain Bike good video
Now I see why you were able to climb so strong in Durango. Great pre ride for the adventure trip.

Hey, the vans back! LOL!
Kudos for the climb up. Def a shuttle would be appreciated.
Great video!! 👍
That was a rather alarming thumbnail LOL. Heck of a ride you had!
At the first of the video you where talking about how you felt like you had an anchor on without the e bike I was thing that's going to suck riding up the road for 17 miles. I road to middle spinal tap and I was dead after that.
Fun lower trail! Get a Battery2Battery charger so idling or driving van recharges house batteries too.
Wow, great video ! Vraiment un bel endroit pour rouler!!! Wow !
Brian we need a best trail list for Ebikes! Please! My wife and I are going to plan a once in a lifetime trip and would love to tap into your extensive knowledge.
That is hardcore climbing. Wow. That ride looks amazing, 18 miles down.
My son spent 2 years digging on the Richfield trail system helps when bikers build the trail that they like to ride. Most of the kids that built the trails where NICA cross country team
Bryan during ride: "Almost makes me want to quit beef" Bryan after the ride: “16oz Ribeye!” Good on ya’ man 😂Great video!

Check your cleat position if you’re having knee pain. I just did an epic gravel ride and for the first time ever had right knee pain. Wasn’t until the end that I noticed my right cleat had loosened and totally shifted.

Haha, it was an adjustment!
I heard a few weeks ago that the upper section of Spinal Tap was finished. I wasn't expecting them to add THAT much, though!
Haha yeah it does feel like a weight on the bike when you get off the ebike. I find a quick ride around on the dirt jumper or the downhill bike helps. Are you gonna go check out Rampage?
You need a DC to DC charger for your van. That way as you drive it also tops off your batteries. Zero power concerns for my van once I got it installed.
@evan13
Жыл бұрын
+1. I've got the Renogy DC-DC charger with built in MPPT controller. It prioritizes whichever source is sending more power. The alternator charges the battery back up much faster than my 200W solar. Battery rarely gets below 85%.
You r really such a cool fun guy I'm addicted to to urr videos dude I wish I was in America to join u someday and have so much great fun despite the fact I'm anything but a pro rider like u but I really wish I could have such a great company like u one day hey I live in turkey have u evvrr thought about riding here I have no clue iff we have any nice trails here though but I'm sure we do have some
at the 11 minute mark, and this might be the beset ebike promotion video yet,! haha
Aspens (quakies) have a circular leaf. Birch have more of an exaggerated heart shape. Also, Quakies are native in the mountain west at that elevation. Thanks for the video - been trying to get down there for awhile now.

That's good info!!
Hey Brian, if you are headed to Moab next week I will keep an eye out for you ! would be great to hit some trails ;)
epic ride!
An easy way to tell birch and aspen trees apart is the bark. Birch bark peels back and looks a bit like a stick of cinnamon.
It wasn't in the video, but you rode right past my camp when you exited the trail! FWIW... If you're still here (unlikely), I'd be happy to shuttle you up to wherever you want on my SxS (a bike will strap nicely to the back with bungees.. no scratches or anything), no charge. I ran a local guy up there last week, was a fun break from work. If you want, msg me on IG next time and if I'm here, I'm happy to help. I tend to spend a few weeks here in the shoulder seasons... sometimes in this particular spot, sometimes in others.

"So comforting to sleep in the Wal-Mart parking lot"! ...Oh like I know the feeling!!
Next time in Richfield go to Monroe and stay at Mystic hot springs!
i've missed some of your videos not gonna lie, but what you did with the rallon? i love that bike !
Looked worth it to me. Although I'd be wearing a ton of sunscreen and a moisture wicking long sleeve shirt. Not a lot of shade. 😅 Great ride though. You're living the mtb dream. 👍
Nothing like a little bull and backhoe to keep the short hairs on end. Your vids are always top notch. Thank you for packing us into your fanny pack. Another fun adventure under our belts. Until next time, stay safe. 🙂
Make me want to pit out for few days vaca heD out that way. Place looks awesome.
Some good riding. How do you feel comfortable pushing yourself when you’re out riding by yourself? I like to go by myself but at the same time i always think if I get hurt I could be in big trouble.
Hey Brian you've probably mentioned it's in previous videos but just curious what tires are you running on that setup?
Wao❤👌👌👌grate ride you man 👌❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏i love mountain biking 🚴🚴🚴🚴 love from India🇮🇳
Yeah, That anchor is you! ;-)
very little difference between the new MY23 RS and the MY22. Damper is basically the same. New suspension feel is the difference you are feeling. Why the air over the coil?
How do you like that really low water bottle mount ? Almost have to use a Camelbac?
Why not ride/try the ebike with such a long/steep climb? (maybe I missed this somehow in the video)
Brain, look into charging your van batteries from your engines altenator. They as you drive your batteries are charging. That's how motorhomes are wired.
I enjoyed the remix on 4:58!

Almost 40 miles of MTBing with 5000 feet of elevation? Damn!!!
I went to Richfield after watching your last video on it and it was amazing. Only thing i didn’t like was that i was camped just off that dirt road and so many of the locals treated me like an asshole (example: spinning tires on trucks/atvs to kick rocks and dirt at me in my campsite). I met some really nice locals too, though.

Ugh, hate that! Always some bad apples in the bunch.
Amazing thumbnail 😂👍
Where I’m from, we average 6500ft on a 20mile ride. 😅. At high altitude.
Do you not try mullets because Ibis doesn't offer one?
Hopefully we can run into each other on the trail while you’re in Colorado!
5000 ft climb what was the altitude when you started?
My palms start hurting if I hit any vibrating spots like Brian does up here. Are there any settings/ workouts I should focus on?

You have too much of you weight over your handle bars. 1. Move seat back 2. Handlebars with more rise 3. Shorter stem 4. Ride with weight or body back more and held up with thighs 5. Question if your bike is too much of a cross country designed frame and you are doing more of a trail/downhill/Enduro style of riding 6. Take your bike to a bike shop and ask if your frame is too small
