Oh, that looks great! By the way, I bought your book last week and can really recommend it. Since some of the ingredients are not part of the standard repertoire of a German kitchen, the little introduction is very helpful for shopping and your unique style transfers really well to this cookbook. It is a nice addition to your videos!

Just made this, using chicken for the meat eaters, and frozen-thawed-squeezed tofu for me. OMG, it is AMAZING! The tofu made like this holds together and has a great chew, and I prepared it just like the chicken. And it was excellent with the shishito peppers (already a big fave around here), too. Will definitely make again.

I'm really lazy, even though I'm retired. I freeze cooked rice in single serving portions. Takes one minute in the microwave and ready to eat. I buy Costco Kirkland frozen cooked chicken breaded patties to make chicken katsu. I stir fry frozen Costco Kirkland veggies.

Mmm this looks so yummy! I want to make it. What do shishito peppers taste like? It seems like they have a mild spice, but is the flavor close to any other type of pepper?
@lindseyasbury2047
Жыл бұрын
I would say like maybe Anaheim? They're very mild and sweet to me (unless you get a hot one), and not as 'green' tasting as fresh jalapeños
I just made this, I followed the exact measurements and it was too salty ☹️. We still ate it but next time I’ll half the soy and oyster sauce. Thanks for the recipe ❤️
Any substitute for chicken bouillon powder?
that was cornstarch that he coat with chicken right?
I guess those of us who can't find shishito pepper will have to make do with capsicums, or perhaps french beans. sugar snap peas?

Is there anything I can substitute for the mirin and corn syrup?
@AaronandClaire
10 ай бұрын
Instead of corn syrup, you can just go for sugar or honey. But in that case, I recommend adding a little less than the recipe calls for because they can be too sweet or too fragrant. Also,if it’s not Japanese food, you can use other cooking wine or water. Still gonna be good. Don’t worry! 🤗

is it okay to skip the oyster sauce? I can’t have it 😞 or are there any okay replacements?
@AaronandClaire

You can add more soy sauce. Of course, that could be lighter or thinner than the oyster sauce, but still gonna be good. Don’t worry! 😁
Looks amazing. Question please. I do not like chicken thighs. Can I substitute chicken breast instead?
@AaronandClaire
Жыл бұрын

More like an hour. But it was very very tasty and I would make again on a weekend
are there any substitutes for mirin and the chicken powder? Or can I leave it out completely?
@jazzr7817
Жыл бұрын
It will still be delicious if you leave them out but if you did want to substitute, you could add a little rice vinegar with a touch more honey to sub for the mirin and a little from any left over ramen flavor packets you may have to sub for the chicken bouillon powder. At least, that's what I'd do 😂
I don’t have honey! Any substitute?
@AaronandClaire

Since the recipe calls for only a small amount of honey, you can replace it with light corn syrup or add more sugar! No problem at all! 😁🙌

I'm thinking it's dinner Sunday.
This kinda reminds me somewhat of the gloopy, American-style teriyaki you get at US takeouts
Why do the dishes always have an egg with them? Genuine question
