Ғылым және технология
Lets just call a spade a spade. The X1 Carbon 9th gen improves on its pre-decessor in several key ways. It is probably the best all round Windows laptop you can buy right now, but it's expensive.

Wow, first time I see R mentioned in a tech reviewer's channel! Nice one Josh. Always enjoy keeping up with your videos!!
I love your combination of tech rundown that enthusiasts will appreciate with real world, hands on, practical observations that your average consumer will like - with nice comparisons/ contrasts with the immediate competition which is key to accessing overall value. GJ, Josh!

Thank you! I've been looking everywhere for a 9th gen X1 Carbon review as I desperately need to replace a computer... Excellent review as always.
Finally a review of the new X1 Carbon. Great job! now I would love to see this side-by-side the XPS 9310, size wise in a picture
I watch your videos specifically for the Linux tests. Thank you soo much!
Thank you Sir for the incredibly objective review. After taking into account your experience with the X1, I decided on the T14 with the Ryzen 7 Pro and touchscreen. The keyboard being the most important feature that swayed my decision. Two weeks with it and I think it was a good choice. I always appreciate your videos! Thank you.
incredible was waiting for your review to get it :)! Thx Josh
I have been eagerly been waiting for someone to make a review on this and you just made my day. Not only you make great vidoes but you know what your audiences are expecting :D I hope your channel grows and you get showered with more subs :D

Great review, Josh! Was curious about the 9th Gen, since I have the 7th Gen X1 Carbon - i7 (not vPro), 16 RAM, & 512 SSD. You're right, def recommended (price was much higher in 2019). It's been super smooth & very reliable over the 1.5 years I've owned it (& 1 year I used it to work from home until I was sent a work laptop). Best thing is how light it is and easy to carry around. Hoping the next gen upgrades to a 1080p webcam.
Just discovered your channel! Amazing videos and reviews thanks!
Thanks for the video Josh, specially for finally bringing up R. Please consider adding an R benchmark to all laptop reviews for future. It will be a great help for data scientists when they want to compare different models.
As both a ThinkPad and R user you had me engrossed! Brilliant video, brilliant production quality.
Thank you very much for providing the bottom chassis temperatures in your reviews. I spend the most time coding while sitting in bed, so the chassis temperature is my #1 consideration when purchasing a new laptop. You are my favorite KZread tech reviewer for providing this information, and for evaluating laptops from the perspective of a programmer. Please continue to provide the bottom chassis temperatures, ideally under both lightweight tasks and heavy loads. I subscribed and liked, thank you!

Your review convined me to buy this laptop. I love it, Thanks!
yay! ty for the linux test! i cant wait for the higher quality screen review! keep up the good work! 😇
Once again, good and detailed review, well done. My order of the thinkpad x1 carbon gen 9 high end spec custom built one is delayed again until May becausethe plant said the parts are in shortages. I didn't choose the 4K screen but rather the even more expensive 500 nits screen. Was not happy to hear the keyboard travel is shorter, not the best.
Perhaps the most balanced review videos I've seen on these cutting edge laptops. Well done.
Excellent video/review. Thank you for your insight.
Thank you Josh for the review with Linux compatibility testing. I really appreciate it.. :)

@@Nikita-zd1gc There is Howdy for ircam face recognition, I've installed and configured it, but there is another problem with ircam light. And those crutches are unstable. As well as the script for Fibocom wwan. After fixing all these problems I didn't feel the system is as reliable as win10 one. Switched back to win10. I do have some experience with Linux, have Fedora router-server, 3 laptops, but don't want it again on T14s :)
Great sound! And awesome video!
I have been waiting for this review !!!
Thanks Josh! Really sweet review!
Incredible review, thanks Josh!
I really enjoy your reviews Josh.
Josh, the UHD display version of the laptop seems to be out, wanted to give a heads up. Love your videos, I think you are the only laptop reviewer who actually reviews everything that matters about the laptop. I honestly don't think I can buy a laptop before watching your review. Keep up with the great content. Also, would be so cool to see a System76 Lemur Pro review 🙃.
I personally care much to screen quatlity and keyboard. You are particularly great at reviewing these items. Thanks very much👍👍👍
Thanks for another great review! I would really appreciate it if you would also do a review of 15-inch laptops and higher. I'm looking for one and there is a lack of good review on bigger screen laptops.
That heat on the keyboard vs on the bottom test was very useful. I was leaning towards XPS but it has me thinking to go towards x1 carbon.
Fantastic as always!
You keep on getting better Josh 😊 Keep it up
Thanks for linux test Josh. Much needed and much appreciated. 😁

Thanks for the GNU/Linux testing! More reviewers need to do that!

Wow. i think this is the first CG9 review on youtube. congrats, josh. u got a hold of it. i initially wanted to get it but the shipping took too long (since it just got released) and i bought another laptop.
Thanks for the Linux Testing, we are so lucky to have you!
Hey Josh, great review as usual. Just a note on the side: When reviewing a laptop for professionals or for people who care about long term use, it would make sense to also mention servicability. Over the years I had many laptops from different brands, but I always go back to lenovo (thinkpads,) because they have very widely spread partners who are qualified and certified to provide service for their laptops, and replacement parts are usually easily available and affordable even many years after you bought your laptop. I know plenty of people who still use thinkpads older than 5+ years because of that. Just replace the battery, replace the keyboard if excessively used, upgrade the ram and you can use it for another couple of years (sadly ram upgradability became rare with thinkpads). But I think it's a legitimate point, when I made the experience that other manufacturers try to force you to buy a new laptop, when you have some sort of a problem with your current one.
Great review Josh, I really like the style of your vieos and I'm now familiar with all your reference machines. I was curious about the 9th generation of the X1 Carbon and the brief monitor problem you had really set off the alarm bells for me. I've had the OLED screen fail with every X1 Yoga I've owned and it seems quality control at Lenovo is getting worse each year. Really unfortunate because the Thinkpads were always such great machines, my T410 is still working fine, just a shame it can't handle the latest software.
Thank you for including linux test! Even if it's a quick one, still useful to know if there are obvious issues.
Just a matter of time before you reach 500k subscribers! Well done.
First gen 9 review on the Internet I think. Way to go Mr Josh!
Excellent, informative review, Josh. Hope you might consider reviewer Saeger laptops and some of the Linux laptops like System76 and Purism.

Greetings frm Taiwan! Hope to see review about the new thinkpad x13 with the AMD 5000 series processor. Thanks for the high quality videos filmed Josh!
Josh, totally agree with your assessment. The X1 Carbon is my favorite all around Windows laptop. They got so many things right with this one making it a great all around laptop. Sorry the reduced the keyboard travel...I hope Lenovo doesn't forget what makes their laptops the favorite of many. Looking forward to your review with the 500nit screen version...hope it is a Matte display also. I absolutely HATE glossy screens...can't see myself ever going back to glossy screens. I've already got enough mirrors around my house..don't need another one on my laptop. I'm jussayin.... The X1 Carbon is expensive but Lenovo typically runs aggressive sales periodically (particularly in late summer and fall) on the X1 Carbon series.
Thanks for your review josh, nice. Hope next video any caption indonesian language.
Great video! Your tests are good, but I would like to see some game benchmarks on laptops with graphics cards (such as HP ENVY with rtx2060) or at least take one game and measure frames per second. That would be helpful! thanks

Thumbs up for being a polite young man. Love your videos josh.
I always look forward to your review because of your Linux compatibility test. This time you did not test Fedora on it? May I suggest you do one video on laptop compatibility with Linux comparison with all the laptops you have reviewed before.
Good review of a great laptop. Honestly, I'm not sure what else I expected. I was a bit surprised about your keyboard comments. I know when the Gen 9 was announced some people were reporting that the key travel had been reduced from 1.5 to 1.35mm, but then I saw other reports claiming that the initial reports were mistaken and that the key travel was supposed to be the same as on the Gen 8. We have a Gen 5 for my wife and I find the key travel especially deep for a laptop, but when I tried out the XPS13 in a store (it was either last year's 9300 or this year's 9310) I thought that the keyboard was awful, and that it was even more shallow than on the comparable XPS 15 and 17. How strange. Anyway, how about a review on the X1 Titanium Yoga? :-)
Something you could add to your Linux testing is hibernation. Sleep Mode is essential, but Hibernation is also a great feature to have, but that is making trouble on too much devices...
what i was exactly waiting for
I think I just found the best tech reviewer along with Dave 2D. Clear, smart, useful. 🙏
Josh, I just noticed the section the the speakers is incorrect. There are two upward firing speakers (under the grill) and two downward firing woofers (which you pointed out).
