@@ChristmasMorning1995honestly I like the dishwasher… my 2 complaints are - the buttons are so easy to touch… I select and change the wash every time I leave over the door. Not a big deal, just annoying. And the edge finishing piece on the upper right side have popped off… we glued it, not a big deal, but it’s only 2 years old I think that’s way to soon for cosmetic issues. The dishwasher washes well though and has long and quick cycles. Biggest difference in this one and our cheap entry model dishwasher is sound and fancy features like bottle jets and being able to move the racks up and down. I feel like the end result is the same… clean dishes.

I got this 3 days installed with sound damper properly installed as well, yes it is really quiet and NO the GE Profile doesn't dry dishes, utensils, bowls and cup drier than Whirlpool. This is a very good dishwasher. Good quality and excellent performance all round. Only gripe I have is that filling with rinse agent is messy - end up losing as much as you fill because of the tiny hole provided for getting it in there.

I have this same model and like it. What I didn't realize when I bought it is that it doesn't have the rinse-only cycle (you mention this). I Like to rinse my china and crystal before use, because I don't use those sets very often. What I REALLY do like is how quiet this dishwasher is, best I've ever owned by far.

Hello Dianne -- I have had my eye on the PDT785SYNFS to replace my current dishwasher. The GE dishwashers tend to have a lot of bad reviews from what I've seen. Are you still in love with yours? They have the most features by far -- as long as they hold up for a while. I'm looking for something that is going to last a minimum of 5 years. Because of the reviews, I've been on the fence with GE, and I may sacrifice some of the cool features for a more reliable model. Thoughts?

Same here!. I figure I can get by with that light duty cycle. You can always run it without detergent and stop it whenever you feel like it. It might not be the worst thing in the world to have it dry the dishes after their winced, either. Other than that I must say this thing had everything. I'm working on getting it upstairs at the moment so I don't know how well it's going to clean dishes yet but it deems to be well liked by others.

We just purchased the suite of 4 from GE directly. They will give you a better price. Which made us order all 4 pieces came within 1 1/2 weeks. Price includes delivery and install. Only thing is they have to take your old appliances which ours looked new (bought in 2008 GE Profiles then) and was going to give them to my daughter, but that is one of their requirements. Got all 4 pieces to $5090.00 taxes, delivered and set up. We had to install the dishwasher because PA requires you to be a electrician for hardwire. My husband did this. I just love the new features on all the appliances comes with. We purchased the double oven free standing instead of the single oven. Nice presentation you did for all the appliances.

@@TopHomeowner How about now? I'm about to purchase a new dishwasher and one of the things I care about is how easy it is to clean the filter. We've had some issues with this model -- going on 4 years after installation. We've had to clean the filters regularly after the unit failed to drain more than once (causing an overflow/flood) and also had to to clean the hose. It's also not quiet anymore. Listening to it from the basement (under the unit) where my home office is you can hear what sounds like grinding. I'm a big fan of GE profile products. This is my second set/suite -- complete kitchen set. But, not a fan of this dishwasher or it's predecessor.. Fortunately, we can do a lot of the trouble shooting and repair ourselves and then things work fine, for awhile. I would also mention that the water bottle cleaners are overrated -- in the 2nd/top rack, only small bottles fi -- not what you'd consider normal-size water bottles.

With our model we can fully extend and lift making sure the hooks clear the rail wheels. I'm not sure with your model though. As for the bottle jets and sprayer arm it sounds like you may have food cycling through the sprayers, is the dishwasher drain hooked up to a sink drain with a garbage disposal? At our old house we had this issue with our Frigidaire, I would make sure to run the garbage disposal before each load to make sure the line was clean. Otherwise tooth picks were my best friend to help remove particles like corn.

I can see it leaking somewhere near the center of the dishwasher so it may be the issue you have described . This is extremely frustrating because this is the second time I have had a fairly new dishwasher flood my kitchen. Add another frustrated owner of a flooded kitchen from a GE Profile dishwasher. It turns out there is a defective elbow on the circulation pump. It’s a common problem, and they don’t sell just the elbow. You have to buy the entire pump. To add insult to injury, they no longer sell the original part, and you have to buy an alternative that may or may not fit correctly. If you are of the percent that has one that doesn’t fit correctly, you will have leaks from a different area than you originally had. So, we’re replacing our 2 year old GE Profile with another dishwasher…possibly a Bosch.

We purchased this dishwasher and believe it is not working as it should. The previous dishwasher (10yo) we had was okay at drying dishes and plastics. This one has not been good. We noticed that even on the dry boost after the cycle has been complete the dishes aren’t even warm to the touch and the plastics are not even close to dry. We had never used the drying agent, and we started which seemed like it helped a little but, still not that dry and the fact that the dishes aren’t even warm make me wonder if it even works. An appliance person who checked it out said they have made these so “energy efficient” that, they can no longer heat up like they used too… do you find this to be true?

Great question! Two main reasons. Overall we liked the looks of the GE Profile series. The house we currently live in needed an appliance refresh and we thought the styling looked upscale without having the premium price. The range specifically had a great design and we also wanted all the appliances to match brand-wise. Second, the number and types of features in the oven and dishwasher were unique compared to other brands. In our old house we chose Frigidaire and were happy with them overall, but it wasn't a good fit here. In short, upscale looks, tons of features and good value for money (for us). I hope this helps!

The GE Profile line hits the "sweet spot" of semi-high-end major appliances. I purchased a new tract house a year ago and the appliances that came with the house were so cheap and lousy. I swapped them out (got a credit from through the builder, D R Horton) for GE Profiles. I dealt directly with the local appliances store that installed the original kitchen, I also got a $500 rebate card with the purchase of the new appliances. I've been very happy with the Profile appliances. The Profile line looks sleek and has excellent features. My kitchen has a great look with the Profiles.

It stopped on its own. (all lights out) It only added water, did some spraying (washing) and then sat. Motor turns on and you can see the water swirling in bottom... I'm sure this is just the drain motor as the door was open and filter was removed upon troubleshooting, but no water enters the sink and the cycle never proceeds. This I know because the soap is still in the unopened dispenser. Where do I start trouble shooting? (I assume the drain area, and what am I looking for?

There is a lot of wasted space, and I have to run it every day, as opposed to every 2-3 days with my previous dishwasher (in the same footprint). I remove and rinse out the filter at the bottom before replacing. Then I use a dishwasher cleaner like Glisten and run it through the hottest setting without drying. I'll check the filter again and rinse if needed but otherwise just wipe down the seals and around the inside of the door with a rag. Outside I use Windex and/or stainless steal cleaner (typically only when company is coming). I will do the deep clean every 3-6 months (which I need to do soon) and then I have my kids take a damp rag to wipe it if their is gunk. I do check the filter every couple weeks if I see dishes not getting as clean or drying as fast.

This is why pacs are an issue...they are more expensive for less bang. Cascade non chlorinated gel costs 5 bucks and I could get a few months worth out of it, using it for both pre and main wash in my Whirlpool powerclean, the classic. It works just as good if not BETTER than the pacs plus you have the convenience of measuring out how much you want. For this dishwasher that no longer bothers to suggest pre wash detergent you’d just need to plop a little gel on the door and in the main wash. The pacs are so not worth the money whatsoever.

I have a GE , not the same model but the pump , spray arm , and heating element are the same . 2 years later IT IS A FIRE HAZARD . Heating element bowed upwards stopping the plastic spray arm from moving , the metal parts underneath the spray arm melted off and did nothing to stop the plastic arm from burning , so don't be fooled into thinking they will prevent a fire . Filled my kitchen up with smoke ' opened the door and saw a small fire on the end of the spray arm , i was able to put it out by dumping a glass of water on it .If you like your house and family STAY AWAY FROM GENERAL ELECTRIC
