Came to say this, I’ve the Phoxx1 OG and the bobcat and the bobcat is far superior in comfort especially if you have to spend some time in it because of dark nights or rain. Its nice to sit up rather than lie down to eat in a 1man, no indigestion 😂

I just used a phoxx in my last vid. I was glad the weather was good. No room. Great for bikepacking or through hikes. No good for me. I’m looking at vango tents and there’s a Coleman tent I like. It’s considered heavy though. But the weight doesn’t bother me. So these things need to be considered. Weight. Space. Waterproofing. Ease of pitch. It’s a non answerable question but I like to read the comments for ideas. I’m tent mad. As are we all 😂😂😂😂. Atb.

I've recently bought the Alpkit Tarpstar 1....it's a trekking pole tent and the outer can be pitched first on its own or the inner can be added. Strictly its an inner first but the inner is for 1 person or you can buy the inner for 2 persons...the outer is huge yet the whole thing is less than 1kg. Huge inside area for kit, cooking etc separate from the inner. Brilliant tent and huge.

Nicely thought out and presented. As an old camper, I have had this style or that style of tent. I look not only at means of entry but also at being able to sit up inside. Wind, rain, and misery: a 'telescope' style of low tent provides such welcome shelter. A person DOES NEED to have a Kindle reader or some entertainment to fight the tedium of being inside on a rainy day. In bad weather, meals mean 'energy bars' more or less.

Quite agree with your assessment, especially the 3rd choice because not only is the entrance easier, I would think it is easier to control condensation? However, the choice for a 1 man tent considers how is it transported=weight and size, price, and for how many consecutive days it'll be used for. Just my two pennies worth. Thanks for your point of view, obviously this is a theme for many.

I believe u should get a 2 man tent for comfort, for the sake of the little extra weight it's worth it..

A one man tent is 2 man tent in reality. Mine's a Blackthorn from Blacks and it's for cycle camping but I put a tarp in from and a floor down.

Excellent advice for newcomers, Dan. You've helped me along the way in tent decision making, along with many other youtube campers. Thank you. I've recently got back into camping over the last year. Started off on a budget with the OEX Bobcat 1 which was great, but being 6ft1 I found it a bit too constricting in those colder, winter month's when it gets dark early. Almost a perfect tent if not for my height. I would sell it, but i just don't want to part with it! I then upgraded to a 2 (well 1.5) person tent, which was the Terra Nova Pioneer 2. It's a terrfic tent, so much room for one person and all their gear, but I wanted something just a little cheaper, smaller for when I get back into wild camping / backpacking and for those rougher terrains (the Pioneer 2 I'll mostly reserve for campsites haha). So, I eventually opted for the Wild Country Helm 1. It still has so much space in the sleeping area, and I love that extra porch on the otherside which is big enough to store a backpack, shoes, etc. It is like a tardis, looks small on the outside, but spacious for a one person when inside. Plus being freestanding, it can be moved if an area is too tight. Packs up really small as well in the backpack. It is also an all in one pitch with the inner connected to the outer.

I really like your content. It has inspired me to have a go at wild camping. I like especially that you use affordable gear thats more accessible to most people. Would you consider doing a video on wild camping backpacks? What size to go for in order to fit all the necessary gear in for a one nighter. Anyway, keep going with the good content. Cheers.

Sadly, a typo. It was caused by my tortoise who usually sits on my desk as a paperweight, but for some reason he attacked my keyboard, it wasn't his fault. But, I tip my cap to you, Wardle, my lad for pointing out the error. By the way, which door you you prefer? Oh, Matron.
