Wonderful tips. any travel advice on what to do with kids if our flight arrives in the morning? since check in time in japan is often 3PM and they rarely let you check in early. I’m quite lost what to do, we’re also from tropical country thus i’m afraid they might feel uncomfortable staying outside in autumn weather during the very first day arrives. Booking the hotel one day earlier would be my last option-if no more option available.. Also, my toddlers will be on strollers..

It's a tricky one because it probably means you'll be pretty tired from the overnight flight. The best thing I can think of is going somewhere that offers both inside and outside activities, with enough space to relax and let the kids nap in the stroller. A suggestion is the LaLaPort in Toyosu - it is a large mall with a good kids playground outside. Or Divercity in Odaiba. I know you said it is your last resort, but personally I think I would just pay for the hotel for the night before. It might be a few hundred dollars more, but I think it will be worth it to let you and your kids rest - because otherwise you'll be playing catch up for days!
