So true, the silver lining to being back home is definitely how much more we appreciate it!

Great to see Mudbrick going so well. I lived on Waiheke for a bit over 4 yrs and worked as a waiter over summer at Mudbrick Restaurant 1997. The wines werent quite ready back than. Was early days. It was 'just' the best restaurant on the island. Such a pleasure to work in a location like that. Will have to get back over to NZ and Waiheke again one day. Im an Aussie and back in Australia now. I actually got married to a lady i met on Onetangi beach and we built a house in Onetangi but sadly the marriage didnt survive. I also worked briefly on two other vineyards. Magic places to work. Nice to see the island again and you 2 enjoy it so much. I still think of it as a second home. 😊 Cheers.

That's interesting to hear actually. Mudbrick is renown for having some of the best wines, location and service on the island - things have taken a really positive up turn since your last visit by the sounds! You wouldn't recognise Waiheke now though, so much development!

Love Waiheke! It's my go-to for where to take visitors from Canada when I want to really impress them. I love the vineyard and orchard options - you can taste wine but also taste olive oil - and of course the views and nature are some of the best in New Zealand. I'll be heading over in the next few months, for sure!

Wow, such beautiful landscapes. Not so much the vineyards, but the view from the island back onto Auckland CBD really reminds me of Toronto and the Toronto Islands. I guess the Sky Tower and CN tower also look a little alike. The cheese board at the end looked amazing. Gotta love a good cheese board 🧀

@Daneger and Stacey Ah, it's such an amazing country. I did a working holiday visa about 10 years ago (whoa, that makes me feel so old) and based myself in Toronto. But I explored pockets and would highly recommend Nova Scotia, Vancouver Island and of course the Rockies 🌄🙌

Thanks for this. We got married at Mudbrick in 2007 in the exact spot you sampled the Chardonnay. Wedding pics on Oneroa Beach and a hell of a party into the small hours. Waiheke holds a special place in our heart and we return whenever we are in NZ.

It's an incredible place, we're so lucky to live here. Oh that's interesting - could well be an audio issue on our end rather than the car.

You know what they say: swing and sway with Chevrolet ! Referring to the soft suspension. Will be checking out NZ wines when we get out and about.

I use to live at 46 Onetangi rd, spent many days at the beach, fish n chip shop and the pub, LOL

@@DanegerAndStacey The gems that don't have many tourists yet quality wines are the Santa Ynez (just north of Santa Barbara), Edna Valley, and Paso Robles regions. Basically Central Coast California. Put it on your post-Covid bucket list! Added NZ to mine. You guys inspire me!

I cannot thank you enough for taking us through this journey; my girls and I were amazed at today’s journey. I do have one question, how does Dane wear a Flyers hat and jersey? I feel that it is my duty, as a Kiwi, to remedy this dilemma. If one were to choose a hockey team from the east coast of the US to support, it would clearly be the New Jersey Devils. It's because at the time of filming this we had no community cases and life had been pretty normal for a while (only cases in managed isolation) although that has changed now - we're currently in a level 3 lockdown 🙃 It comes and goes in waves.

You know he had a girlfriend Li Ying and a son "Sam" who was looked after my a Maori women on the island. Gu Cheng was jealous of Xi Ye and Li Ying because they got close, Li Ying hooked up with a younger guy and left so he murdered his wife with an axe, not to mention he tryed to strangle her while in Berlin then he hung himself the property it happened on was Tapu so the Maoris did a karakia to lift the bad he left behind, I wonder what ever happened to there son Sam.

@@meg7088 You are very knowledgable on this, thx. I was lving in AKL for 3 years and didn't go there, I fear that it will haunt me. I love Gu Cheng's work though. I hope Sam has a good life in NZ, sh*t happens but it has nothing to do with him now, great authors /artists often are a bit weird afterall.
