Hey guys. I hear you and it breaks my heart that the idea of this video hurt anyone’s feelings. The goal of my video was to show that you don’t need money to have fun with your friends and I wanted to show that in a fun way. I changed the thumbnail and title because I completely agree that it looked intensive and I should have thought that through much better. Ive gone through financial struggles myself and I didn’t even know what Gucci was for most of my life. I never want people to think that having money makes you happy because it doesn’t. I’m grateful and proud that I was able to work hard and afford things I never could as a kid but that doesn’t equal happiness. Spending time with my friends for free was the most fun I’ve had on my channel in a long time and I hope that message shines through. I’m so sorry for offending anyone and I really do just wanna make you guys happy with my videos. Looking back I should have focused more on the message rather than trying to make it funny. Please know my heart is always in the right place.

Coming from someone who grew up poor I understand why people could be offended by the idea of this video but i also wanna let people know that this was actually my idea. I told ryland I wanted to do a video showing people how much fun you can have with your friends for free and I told him about stuff I used to do when i was young. I was really excited to see what he did with it and that he showed how much fun you can have with your friends without the need for material items or fancy locations. I totally understand how people could be hurt by the idea of turning “having no money” into a challenge but I also think the message is something that is important. it’s not money or gucci that makes people happy... it’s quality time together. the saturday’s i spent at costco with my mom eating free samples and getting a free donut after at krispy kreme are some of my best memories from my life. And yes, dumpster diving is illegal but the amount of times i did that with my brother during the summer time probably should have put me in jail haha Anyways, I just wanted to leave a comment because i wanted u guys to know i understand, i feel you, but i also hope u can see the message behind it all and that it came from a good place. ryland doesn’t have a bad bone in his body and hes the most caring generous man i know. :,)

this video came out while i was homeless and i sat in the downtown public library of my city mooching off of their wifi (as always) and watched this, and i felt nothing but comfort. i still come back and watch it sometimes because to me, even if some things werent worded the best, it just feels so humanizing and nice seeing others try to show their audiences that money isnt the most important thing and that you can have fun and spend quality time with the people you love without having much in the bank. im glad that every time i come back to this video the replies are more and more positive and understanding of the true motive of the video

You weren't mooching off the library and it's wifi is for FREE PUBLIC use for everyone especially folks in hard situations. Videos like this can sometimes come off like people using public services with limited amounts of money are being dangerous criminals or cheating the system which leads to so many of us feeling ashamed for using free services provided by our own community. They were probably thinking, "Damn, maybe these KZread celebs aren't making that much bank after all? If they're having to dumpster dive for makeup rejects. Though dumpster diving with the Gucci backpack is all that. Maybe they should do a follow up where they dumpster dive behind Gucci.

Okay, but the free donut sample thing is SUCH valuable knowledge for people who are struggling to afford their next meal. Too often I see people getting screamed at for trying to find something edible in a dumpster, so the fact that you can just walk in the front door and ask for uncontaminated, fresh goods is so cool

At Sprout’s, they have coffee samples. At the ones I’ve been to, they have at least 2 different kinds of coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer. You can just walk up and grab some without anyone there. And you can usually ask someone to let you sample things from their bulk section. And at their deli you can sample meat and maybe cheese. They let you do these things so you know if you like them though, so I wouldn’t suggest doing this very often.

The meat at the deli backfired when I did it. But they did have tiny cubes of cheese. As does Ralph's.

Garett is the definition of a pure soul.....he's a gift

nothing is wrong with this video! I enjoyed it and as a broke person living paycheck to paycheck i often google how to have fun for free. I'm 26, and I'm over the moon if i have even 50 spare dollars to survive the week. Love you Ryland this was fun to watch

Omg Garrett is the most wholesome person- when he said "I dont bust lunch ins alot, this is a big deal to me" I lost it. The part where garrett came in made the whole thing better :)

I don’t understand why anyone thought this was offensive. When I saw this I actually thought it was really cool for Ryland to make a video like this and put this Much effort into a video that shows everyone they don’t need to spend money to have fun!! Like most youtubers do, going out and buying thousand dollar items in vlogs.

let me tell you, this video was so genuine. by far my favorite video on Rylands channel, i come back through the months since it was posted and rewatch it when i need a spirit lifter. everyone was loving the company of one another saving money, and doing it the way with jokes and a good time. probs to these real influences.
