Mine had a red, yelllow and green light that would monitor how loud we were and it would go off and the lunch teacher would make you sit by yourself if she caught you talking and she always said I can tell when if your talking or just chewing and one time she caught me supposedly talking when I was just chewing my food😭

I had a lunch monitor literally scream at me on my first day at a new school because I was talking on yellow light. Everyone talks on yellow light you’re only silent on red. I never saw her again after that.

My school didn’t do silent lunch, they did “sit with your class” lunch which was painful for most kids. (ONLY EXCEPTION WAS MY FRIEND BC SHE HAS A BAD PEANUT ALLERGY)

My school stored those little peach cups in the freezer and they were SO GOOD LIKE THAT. Like a cheap popsicle kinda thing going on, the texture was great. They also had strawberries.

For me they used to put traffic cones on each end of the table, and we weren’t allowed to make any noise until the teacher decided to take them off. Sometimes they just wouldn’t.

Teacher POV: "The school bell doesn't dismiss you, I do." Student POV: "The lights in the lunchroom don't control me, I do." What I'm saying is: Here they would do 2 things, turn off the lights or change the cups. So there would be these three cups on the tables, right? And if your table was too loud, your cup would change to yellow which is a warning. Then if you're like still really loud, your cup would go to red and you couldn't talk for the rest of lunch. Or the one that they do most often, lights off. So if the whole cafeteria was like really loud and they were too lazy to change the cups, they would turn off the lights and give us a little blah blah and then 2 minutes of silence. And then they would turn it back on and try again. But we either still couldn't handle it or we got it, and if we still couldn't handle it, they would go back off. And if they went off another time, they would permanently stay off. And that's the end of my😂✨LUNCH TORTURE✨😂

I feel so much luckier with the food my school gives now..

That's that same for my school, but you had to walk laps around the playground we would be playing at for the day, for a certain time or a certain amount of laps😅 {•Btw going to the principal's office instead of recess seems like detention to me, so imma talk about my school's kind of detention. It was called ISD. ISD is pretty much going to a room and from what I heard, you do a bunch of stuff like PE but more tiring and I think they won't ever give you a break but only lunchtime idk I haven't been in it before and at any time of the school day you have a chance of being sent there if you are usual to being a troublemaker or doing something like pulling you pants down in public... Same with me except instead of 15 it was 25 mins in a 30 minute lunch so we had a timer .But, when the timer rang at each table everyone would stay quiet because, it wasn’t worth starting a conversation if you all were just gonna start running outside.

Smiley fries that are heated until they weren’t frozen anymore, most of the time the smiley fries were super soggy and felt barley cooked. Most kids just threw them at the food pyramid because they stuck to the poster. Who ever hit the tippy top of the pyramid won the prize of having his 2 friends care.

My school's really good about this kind of stuff, but one time I found a strawberry that was overripe on one side and underripe on the other.

Never had these, my school lunches were always so yummy, especially nacho day or pizza day. It was so good we'd run to be first in line because the food always run out.

They also make us have silent lunch like u can't almost 120 kids and a large cafeteria together and expect them to not be loud

Born in 86, grew up in the 90s, and the bagged milk I remember. It wasn't everyday, but we had it. I attended Anna Howard Shaw Middle School (located in Philadelphia), and the food was much better. We had a cold bar where we could order our own Hoagies ( Philadelphia term for subs). It was great.

Nice to know the Midwest also had bagged milk. I remember entering middle school thinking, yes we finally upgraded to carton drinks. In the two elementary schools I went to, we had bagged milk and juice, and whenever there was a random switch to carton juice, EVERYBODY grabbed it even though it was the least favored flavor. Maybe it was grape. I remember a dark red one but don’t remember if it was cherry or apple. The usual juices were apple, orange, and … it might have been mixed grape and apples or mixed berries? Just now occurred to me, middle and high school never gave us a third flavor. I’m from the other side of the states, high population sort
