The 4 seconds left on the microwave thing- my mom did it my WHOLE 🤬 life! Moving out and being the master of my own microwave was so liberating!

I was expecting the punchline to the boxing joke to be "Because they prefer to knock one out instead." 😂

I have taught my daughter's (4&7) to get up and take a bow as soon as they fall over / stack their dirt bikes before assessing how much they are hurting. The distraction helps limit the shock response and they only cry if it's serious. Makes me so proud when you hear the other parents gasp as they take a tumble in the play ground and they just shake it off and carry on playing.

I listened to my kids fall. That THUD tells you everything. If they bounced most of the energy of the impact was dispersed, they'd be OK, if the skin remained intact. It not, I knew that really hurt. And the short total silence was just sucking in the air needed to fill their lungs to cry.

It's a whole lot of fun just listening to you guys chat. I'm in the U.S. and I don't think I've ever heard just a normal Aussie chat. It's fast, full of accent, and lot's slang that I've never heard. On the topic of parking, it drives me nuts when I’m in a parking lot that is relatively empty and someone is waiting for me to leave where I’m parked. It gives me the urge to check my oil and all four tires pressure.

Australia 11 winning the America's cup in '83 was huge. There's news footage somewhere that shows the Americans having to unscrew the trophy that was held down by enormous bolts (presumably as an arrogant sign of never expecting to be defeated) I believe it was at the New York yacht club HQ.

The car seat parking happened to me on Monday afternoon. I audibly but quietly to myself said "why are you f'ing parking next to me when you've got the whole f'ing car park". Didn't realise they had their car window open 😂

Been listening to back catalogue. It's a lot of fun getting 3 year old sports results! I'm so glad skin worked out how to speak unto the mic. A moments silence followed by "I agree with skin there...." isn't a lot of fun.

My mom was short 1.57 meters (5'-2") and would leave upper kitchen cabinet doors open and walk under them if open. So if I was in the kitchen with her, I had to constantly pay attention to the odd cabinet door smacking me in the back of the head or face. The worst would be standing up after getting something from a drawer and getting the bottom open corner... I'm 1.91 meters(6'-3")

I'm 6-4 3/4" (1.95m), and the worst head impacts I've sustained have been getting up from a crouch and basically driving my skull into the corner of an open cupboard door.

I think y'all need to come down here to the Texas (or really anywhere in the southern US) and try some good deviled eggs. My favorite is mixing the yolk with mayo, dijon, salt, pepper, bacon, chives, a couple of dashes of hot sauce. They make great hors d'oeuvres.

It's easier reversing into a space when you arrive because you're more aware of what other vehicles/people are around.

Exactly! Reversing out you often can't see if anyone's coming. You just have to inch back and hope that people behave. Depending a bit on the car park in question of course.

3:00 When I was a kid I was skiing with my family. I got on the lift with my dad and as the char started to take us away the edge of my ski caught and my prosthetic leg spun around to face backward. It was not very nice feeling and I cried out, more in fear than pain. My dad said, "Oh, that doesn't hurt." and he twisted my fake leg back the right way and jammed my leg back on. My mother and sister were in line still, and the lift operator and everyone in line were horrified. Aside from my mother and sister, no one knew I was an amputee.

She still has a baby! This does not get old!

It’s way safer reversing in. Some uk companies insist their employees reverse into car park spots as less chance they knock someone over reversing into the space with full vision then reversing back out the space into a blind corner.

14:08 - Safety. Reversing in means you have easy overview of other cars driving around you, and you have better view of other cars when driving out. Think about it.

more important. If you stop & reverse in. The guy behind has to stop. But if you were nose in & try to reverse out. In a busy carpark, the guy behind you will have to reverse back into the car behind him. So they don't bother. it can take a really long time to get a gap to back out of the car space.

oh no Jana..... psychologists have discovered that when we treat a child's experience as if we are experiencing it can lead to long term traumatic effects that aren't apparent until they reach adulthood. We as adults have experienced so much more therefore it may seem like nothing but to them it might be the worse thing to have ever happened. Sometimes dropping an ice cream can feel like the end of the world, much like losing your first dog. Its like a retired soldier who had to kill a couple hundred animals in Pripyat after Chernobyl came up to you holding your dying dog and said "ah you'll forget about it by dinner time. And if you don't, just go buy another one tomorrow. Time to get a cuter puppy anyways" Maybe the psychologists will learn something new that says otherwise someday but for now that has proven to be pretty accurate especially from my experience of working with youth and young adults
