Things Not To Say To A Bisexual Person

Ойын-сауық

THINGS NOT TO SAY SEASON 2: • Things Not To Say To A...
A group of bisexuals have some stuff they want to get off their chests. In particular, the annoying questions and comments they have to tolerate about their sexuality. It's time to put the record straight (so to speak), and give the world a heads-up on the nonsense they really don't want to hear, thank you... like 'Prove it'.

people actually do, though. biphobia in particular happens among LGBTQ people- i don't think i've ever been in a LGBTQ space without someone or other having something negative to say about bi people, about how they're just straight people experimenting or trying to be cool, or just gay people who are too scared to go all the way... so there's both hate from homophobic straight people, and hate from our own communities (although, obviously, not everyone is like that). it really is a dealbreaker for some people as well

  • @lc6296

    @lc6296

    7 жыл бұрын

not to be overly personal, but are you a bisexual person? because just about every other bisexual person i've spoken to has had similar experiences to what's being spoken about here- being stereotyped as unfaithful, indecisive, just wanting attention, etc, or being made to feel left out of LGBTQ communities, and I would be surprised if many bisexual people would say that wasn't the case. it isn't really a small minority at all. I agree people could do with being less sensitive and easily offended, but that has little to do with actually ostracizing people from a community- that isn't something that's offensive but you can brush off, it's something that actually majorly impacts peoples' lives

But can you see how for people who spend more time with others and make their social life a high priority (which is often essential for some LGBTQ people, that sense of community) feeling ostracized from that or having that experience made negative (as well as all the day-to-day standard homophobia from straight people) it could be really hard? I'm not much of a social butterfly either but I feel like i would be much more connected with the community if there hadn't been negativity there- when I actually have reached out that's when I realize how much biphobia is a real thing

Legit when I came out to my mother about being bi, the first thing that came out of her mouth was "So you want to date me? So you want to date your grandmother?" And just remember crying for a long time that night because she literally thought I would just date anything that was female. She would always downplay my relationships from that point forward because "but you're dating a guy! So you're not a lesbian." Even now in my wonderful relationship, I'm apparently "straight" and have "come out of a bisexual phase." A similar thing happened with my Step-Grandmother when I gently came out to her at 17 about being bi but she instantly said "No! You're either gay or you're straight, being bi is just greedy. You're either one or the other." I didn't sleep that night because I was crying so hard. Parents and relatives of Bisexual/Biromantic children/relatives please just take them at face value. If they say how they feel, it means they trust you enough to tell you in the first place. If you love them enough, then please please please don't yell or tell them they are wrong or assume anything. If it's an experiment, they will likely tell you they are experimenting, you don't have to tell them they are. If you love them, tell them you love them. Try to learn about bisexuality and get your information straight from the bisexual community. Hell, get your information from the LGBTQ+ community, because your family member will appreciate it and will trust you more in the future. If you are a family member learning about bisexuality and LGBTQ+ through this video, thank you. Knowledge is a wonderful thing and to learn more about us will always be appreciated. Have a lovely day. :)

Later, when I went outside with my friends, one of em said "Dude are you gay?" as a joke, which I was extremely annoyed about, and I said "Yes." (Note that I'm bisexual and closeted, so I just said I was gay bc I assumed my friends dunno what Bi meant) She INSTANTLY BACKED AWAY FROM ME. im Kindaproblematic But the thing is many gay people come out as bi at first. Somehow they find it easier, at least in my generation it was like that. My best friend said to me she was bi even though she already knew I was gay. She even made out with some boys. A year later of so she admited she was lesbian. I dated a lot of "bi" guys in my younger years. They didn't want to put the "gay" label on themselves, but with time they ended up doing so. It came to a point that I thought that bisexuality didn't exist. One woman told me she was bisexual, and i was really wasted that night so I bluntly replied "bisexuality doesn't exist", and she got so mad lol. To this day, i've still never met a bisexual person that doesn't end up being actually gay. I don't deny the existence of bisexuality, but I think the "it's just a phase" thing is not unreasonable given the circumstances.

Dee Gee no, just straight people in general - my male and female coworkers were equally confused as to how I could be bisexual and married to a man; one woman asked how women even had sex with each other (I would point out that there was more to sexual pleasure than penetration), and the men were unsurprised that my husband didn't mind me swinging both ways, though one was unsure how he would react if his missus came out as being bi. The funniest one was my best friend in college, who constantly asked "but you don't fancy me, right?" to the point where I eventually did start to fancy her.

Natasha Longley when you've been denied the other set of genitals for years and years. You'll eventually cheat. Bisexuality means you are attracted to #crave sex with both sets of genitals eventuality you will want the other. And most people are not ok with having a third person on the bedroom so you'll eventually cheat out of sheer sexual frustration.

Ruhe1986 Your argument can apply for straight or gay people as well. Eventually you can get tired of the same pair of genitals you've been having sex with and you'll desire someone else of the same gender. But that's not the case necessarily, why? Because most people respect themselves and have morals and aren't driven by sex ffs. Being bisexual means you like both men and women, it makes you openminded not hornier.

  • @Brend.0

soraji- and unfortunately there are more that are driven by sex than you think. And it's an unfortunate reality that there are body parts I don't have that a bisexual person will eventually crave and not be able to get in any way shape or form other than cheating with me.

I'm bisexual. And the one comment I'm starting to get a lot is "I thought you were gay because you hang out with dudes" and "I thought you were gay because of how you dress". I've always been a tomboy my whole life. Never been comfortable in dresses always preferred jeans and tshirts. So because of this, people that don't get to know me just assume I'm a butch lesbian lol. I find it funny that how I decide to dress should somehow determine my sexuality. There are very girly dressing bisexual women but no one assumes they are gay. So why should who I hang out with and what I feel comfortable wearing have anything to do with who I love? I just never understood that logic.

No, bisexuality is an attraction to the typically binary sexes: males and females. Gender is different to sex. I consider myself to be bisexual panromantic because I am sexually attracted to both male and female bodies (as well as intersex, because they are usually a combination of both), and because gender is not a binary thing, hence the pan meaning all. I agree that being bi doesn’t automatically make them transphobic, because regardless of body parts, what matters is their heart.

Bisexual means 'attracted to 2 or more genders' and has been around way longer than pansexual etc. We're not transphobic, we do not have problems with nb-people. If a bi person has a preference.... still not a horrible thing. People just love to hate us :/

Bi nonbinary person here! To say bisexuaity is inherently transphobic is in itself biphobic AND transphobic. Trans men and trans women are still men and women. (So to say someone is pan, not bi, because they also like trans people is treating trans people like a third thing when they're not). The purple stripe on the bi flag represents attraction to nonbinary genders as well as a mix of male and female (so to say bisexuals are enbyphobic is just untrue. I'm a bi enby. Am I enbyphobic?) to any accidental Biphobes reading this: Do not minimize the definition of bisexuality just because pansexuality exists and overlaps. Both bi and pan people can be transphobic. But neither sexuality is inherently

Sara Nicole hi I know 8ts a bit late on j7st read your comment and yes you are meant to be supportive of each other. The reason they say that they are transphobic is because saying you're bi is basically saying there is only two genders male and female. I was talking about this recently and mentioned in surprised there hasn't been something like this sooner where bi will be seen as the outsider for only liking or acknowledging two genders. Hope that helps if you read this.

here's my story im a bi teen when I was 7-8 I had a crush on 2 people. my 2 best friends. this went on for 2 years until I told my girl best friend I had a crush on her. she is didn't feel the same way and rejected me. when I went home I cried and cried. my best friend who was a boy is against gay relationships I found out the next day. I got so sad I didn't go to school for a week. when I came back my girl best friend left my friend group and I never saw her again. when I was 12 I moved away. it was hard but I got thru it. my family didn't know about my sexuality. at my new school, I made a friend who was just like me. we came out to each other and she became my best friend. when we started high school we made more LGBTQ+ friends a few were gay, pan, ace. we had finally found our people. some were in a relationship and some weren't. I knew I had to come out someday. so one day I came out. they didn't like it. in fact the bullied me. they called me names and made me wanna kill myself. the only person I was alive for was my best friend. if she was gone I would be too. that brings me up too now r/im14andthisisdeep

Some people use "bi" to mean only attracted to men & women and "pan" for attracted to more than those two genders; the other main definition is "bi" for two or more genders but where gender still plays a role in your decisions; and "pan" for that the gender doesn't matter to you, it's personality foremost. Personally I identify as bisexual under the second definition because I can be attracted to people of various genders but I still have a gender bias in who I like
