THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE COMING TO BU/COLLEGE| Grade deflation, pre-med, academics social, dorm..

hello! since I just finished my last final at Boston University, I wanted to talk about some things I wish I knew before coming to BU. I got my BS degree in human physiology from Sargent last year, and I am currently getting my MPH degree at school of public health! I wanted to reflect on my 5 years at BU and give you my honest review of my experience as an international/pre-med/graduate student!

this is crazy! i’ve joined a cgs zoom call to talk about students experience regarding grade deflation and they all deflected the question. Made it seem as if I was delusional and I didn’t know what I was talking about. One student who was pre-med reassured me that there isn’t any grade deflation and it was a ‘“myth” , that most professors at BU really care about their students. I wish I would’ve known this before sending my deposit. So frustrating.

😂😂it definitely depends on your major and I think the school is trying to make the science classes easier!

Frankly, when it comes to grade deflation, I don't see why there should be any reason to distribute the number of each grade given. Make the material more challenging and raise the bar. The problem of who gets what should sort itself out. Teachers should never "give out" a grade, they should be earned through and by hard work and ability. Have universities forgot how test for aptitude? If you are in a medical field it should be tough, after all the life of someone under your care could be hanging in the balance of your skill-set and discretion. Seems as though the entire college grading system needs to be revamped.
