The Lightning have a lot of money invested in a small number of forwards, but these players have proven playoff track records and all have a couple Stanley Cups to their name. The three players on the Leafs that dominate 40% of the team cap haven't accomplished much of anything in the playoffs.

Even the 1st goal was a result of a slow knuckler over the net that bounced off the boards. They really had to hold the lead juat a little longer, and the Bruins and crowd would have gotten antsy while the Leafs would have built more momentum to close this out.

Rielly was a problem too. I expected more from a defenceman of his tenure in a game like this. Why cant he lead a breakout or take shots on net? I swear every time he touched the puck he either iced it, banked it off the boards to no one or shot it wide. Disappointing.

Honestly, it's not that bad. We have a new GM and the changes he made worked out well. Reeves, Domi, Bertuzzi, Jones... they weren't the issue. Now we can move on from Keefe, Marner, Liljegren, Sammy and put the Dubas era behind us. We can build around Matthews, Nylander, Knies, McCabe, Benoit, Lyubushkin, Edmundson, Kampf, Dewar, Gregor, McMann, Holmberg and Woll.

That was such a set play on the OT winner. Just watch the replay again. After Pasta drops the puck off with Lindholm, he’s pointing for the dump in at his own blue line and turning on the jets. Not sure if it was meant to burn Marner specifically, but he was calling for it.

I 100% agree. I'm pretty sure Pasta knew it was Marner...and yes. It was a set play.

The better team won, period. Bruins best record and most wins over the past two years. Best players showed up when Pasta scored, better goalie played well.

All Marner had to do was run a tiny bit of interference (even significant interference doesn't get called in the playoffs - let alone G7 in overtime) to slow down Pastrnak. What was he THINKING?!

The leafs are not anywhere near to the top 4 or 5 teams of the league. Struggle against the Bruins is a sign a weakness.

Mariner gliding along that was his man ,what the hell.

When Swayman whiffed on the puck behind the net, instead of driving the net for the wrap around for fear of contact, Marner carries the puck around the perimiter for a complete nothing play. The guy's a complete coward!

Marner isn’t going anywhere, it’s called a no move clause and unless he wants to go you can’t get rid of him. Same with JT, although he is more likely to leave since he’s aging out and might want to go somewhere that has a better chance of winning, maybe out west somewhere. But unless JT or Mitch say they wanna leave you can’t get rid of them. So expect to see them at the start of next season unless a team that is better than Toronto is willing to acquire them, or someone that would be willing to pay a lot for a couple of duds shows up. Maybe Utah will take them but either way Mitch and JT have to approve of it

I’m wondering how Toronto may trade Marner when he has a no movement clause? Also, how is Toronto going to get a possible #1/2 defenseman in a trade? What NHL team will trade their top pair defenseman when they are only gotten with more lottery tickets (draft picks)? Detroit got a possible top pairing with Edvinson and Seider by drafting them in the first round and same with Colorado on Makar.

The Bruins went to sleep in game 5 and 6 as they often do but make no mistake they were destined to win and everyone knew it.

I guess I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was at the historic game where the Leafs won a playoff series last season. I was upset as a Lightning fan, but now it seems I was a witness to history. No one really knows what’s about to happen, but doubtless it will make that the only success this group saw in the playoffs.

Leafs fans are so proud. They did better than ever!! And Stay Mitch! We need you! You guys rocked playing Boston. Guys down sick and you game back! Keep the team together! Next year! The game could have gone either way!!!! You guys rocked it!! We are proud of the Leafs this year!!

4 Things: - Marner let Pastrnak get away instead of literally sticking to him and denying him a puck reception. -Riley reacting too late to the puck ricochet. -Samsonov not diving for the puck and it was within reach or poke checking. - Nylander not rushing back to support on the D. Big up to him for the Game 6 & 7 Magic. It’s sucks that all of that gets overshadowed. The Leafs, really did play hard. It’s sucks that one moment where four guys failed to anticipate and sneak attack led to a very Big upset. The Canucks did in the dying seconds of Game 6 vs Nashville and all four PK players LITERALLY mobbed the net. They refused an equalizer. I really the Leafs to pick up this series. Ca La Vi

Marner has a no trade clause in his contract with one year left. He won’t accept a trade unless it’s to a top tier team they’ll have to try and find a team to give up talent or picks for one year at 11 million. Very difficult trade to make

I'm a big Vegas fan and really am neither pro nor con Toronto. Having said that, Leafs fans need to be careful about thinking a wholesale house cleaning (seemingly starting at a minimum with Marner and Keefe) will alas lead to Lord Stanley's promised land. It almost assurdly won't. Yes, there is a good core around which to build,, but Toronto is, and likely will be for the foreseeable future, a 2nd tier team compared to the likes of Florida, Carolina, and the Rangers.
