@@connorthomas4826 That's not necessarily the case about half the time: When getting the kit home, for example. Or when plans/gigs get canceled. Or if you lend your kit to the high school so there's enough practice kits in the local jazz festival: everyone was so busy that I had to do it myself. Even if it's not all the time, there's a lot of set up. Thanks for being one of the bandmates who helps out at gigs though; I'm sure your drummer is thankful.

Me, who played synth in marching band, and didn't have to deal with terrible marching...ha! But...I did have to deal with MainStage (the program we used for our synth), which is honestly, probably much worse, lol But I did march cymbals down to the field when we had football games, so I did learn how to march. It's kinda fun!

Try gloves. I use CC brand "boxer" gloves.(get them at a hardware store). They have rubber grips and are very comfortable. I only started wearing gloves after like 10 years because my fingers would actually tear open in the winter and I'd get blisters in the summer. I'd even get blisters under my calluses. I really never drop sticks anymore. There are a few pro metal drummers who wear gloves too. Two off the top of my head are Joey Jordison and Matt McDonough (Mudvayne). Though, they both have Ahead signature sticks too. Those are a little slippery.

What helps me drum is trying to play drums with music and it really helps your progression.

Lars is very overrated. Most of his drum beats are literally just the 4/4 beat with a few tom fills every now and again.

I dont own a thrown, I have a small room so I just sit on my bed and play then at practices I sit on whatever chair they can find, helps my kit control but yeah it took some getting used to

tbh, when i rent a practice space, i spend at least 45 minutes tuning, placing, micing... and i play for 3 hours straight.. :)

I just bought a drum pad. I started watching KZread videos on how to use them. It's cheaper than a full kit and takes up less space. I also saw that there are videos about using pillows, buckets, pots and pans. Some people recommend buying electronic kits or software. I'm not sure how much they cost. Good luck :)
