Big thanks for this. Been a while since I got back into Thief 1 & 2 and all the fan missions, and now I've installed the lot for both, including the Black Parade 😃

Brother is delivering his piece with a stony serious expression while also playing on a ray tube monitor in the year 2023.

Great job on this, didn't realise there were so many steps for getting this mod to work. Haven't played T/T2 in YEARS

So I followed all the instructions for this completly and when it opened the FM selecter at 6:10 the mod file wasnt there for some reason. So what I did that solved the problem for me is I clicked on options (The gear between 'Start FM' and 'Exit') and selected 'FM archive path...' from there I just manually selected Thief the Black parade from the folder we just created in the Thief gold folder. Hope this helps anyone who had a similar problem.

Just to clarify Dark Mod was based on Doom 3, rather than Quake 3. It's now fully free and standalone and there are hours of high quality missions available for it.

I didn't even know that I said Quake 3 until you just mentioned it... my brain was totally thinking Doom 3, but I've been playing Quake lately, lol. oops! Got a favorite mission?

It required you own a copy of Doom III when it started.

@@JonathosDX But that doesn't make the mod itself chargeable. Besides, that (doomIII) was only the case at the beginning and that was many years ago.

Thanks for this! I was fine up until the fm directory thing. I just extracted the BP files into the thief directory and though the fm just wanted to know where the game was installed. Nope haha! Got it up and working with your instructions. Cant wait to play this!

Damn - scrolling pass the thumbnail and seeing Thief on a Gateway monitor, that took me back for sec. It made me feel a feeling that I long forgot about, lol. My first experience with the game was on an old Packard Bell monitor and eventually a Gateway, but man, now I’m feeling like the only way to experience it is on an old CRT.

Appretiating the M:Tron Lego next to your monitor 😍 BTW look out for the upcoming Lego collectible minifigures series, there seems to be an upcoming M:Tron minifig.

hey massive thanks for the help, im a caveman when it comes to this simple software stuff; IF YOU ARE READING THIS COMMENT HERE ARE SOME TIPS - if you got Win 10 OS: be sure to have the game not installed in those fancy folders like program files or program files (x86), the game starts having all sorts of issues for some reason when on installed on those protected folders - if your install is steam start the game through the big play button on steam, for some reason launching the game from the .exe on the folder some kind of DRM kicks in and shuts the game immediatly without any error message.

Thank you! It worked fine. A useful tip: start thief via gog/steam/etc only, not via exe.

GOG let's you download the install files so you don't need the GOG launcher. In that case you would launch via the exe.

Is there a way to turn on subtitles (for NPCs, in-game, FMVs, etc.) for this mod?

Godammit. Thief is my all-time favorite game. I think I wrote a note to myself to get this - unless it's new. I've got Thief Gold and TFix, but I haven't installed or played in years, and I hear some of your brilliant music in the background. Secrets of the Rainforest is fkg INCREDIBLE. I bookmarked your bandcamp page. I'm halfway through your alb, but if I keep listening I'll never get to sleep - it's 6:45 in the friggin' morning. How are we not already friends? How do you have Black Parade in the form of a single file? When I download it using win.rar, it becomes an archive of a bunch of folders containing the individual files. No matter what I do, nothing shows up when I open FMSel.

hi, i followed all your steps, i started thief gold, it detected the black parade, so i installed it as you did. the game started. i watched the intro for the first mission, then when i clicked continue to start the first mission, after a few seconds it crashed to desktop and said the game had stopped working? any ideas?

I don't really know if this is the right place to ask, but I got the game back just to play this mod. Every time I open a note/document/letter in the game, it instantly closes again, and I really can't find a solution or anyone else asking about this problem elsewhere

Hi Man, thanks for the great video. Do you know if it's possible to run the base game and mods like this one on the Steam Deck? I'd assume you'd be able to but having an installer for it might make things difficult because of the proton OS. Thanks in advance!

Hey, tried it, and everything seems to work, but when I started it up, it was all black, and then minimized. If I click on it again, the screen goes black like it is going full screen and I can hear it, but then it minimizes again.

Where is the reaction video ot the GTA 6 trailer Logan? :D

Would this be compatable with the Thief Enhancement Pack mod or the Thief HD Texture Mod? I followed your steps and got it working but idk if it's possible to add these mods I mentioned afterwards.

I suggest playing TBP as vanilla as possible. This is because the artists kept this in mind in the design and coherence of the textures. In fact if you get AngelLoader, you can uncheck mods in the mods tab. It works the same way as fam select, where you point to where your downloaded fan missions.

I'd avoid the enhancement pack. The HD texture mod may work if it is only replacing textures and not changing any gameplay or scripts.

@@teksyndicate The HD mod also replaces objects, often on coherent in playing the base games. If used on this, objects won't look right or fit into cubbies. The overall aesthetic of this TBP will be diminished. I highly recommend not using any mods, there is plenty of advancements within TBP that will keep someone on the edge of their seats.

Yeah I also experienced some problems like dark places where you can't actually hide, invisible torches and vice versa with said mods. I'm playing TBP "vanilla" now and it's great.

The mod's description explicitly says not to use this with HD enhancements.

Man Thief is so good. As a whole, it does bug me how "preachy" the stealth genre is. My first stealth game was Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven, so stealth assassinating everyone is my M.O., and it bugs me that in games like Dishonored, if you start doing that - even with the power that disintegrates bodies on death, a stealth assassin's dream - the world goes to shit and weepers are everywhere and you get the bad ending. It's like "Here are all these cool powers and tools to kill people with, but don't use them!" In Thief, it doesn't bother me, because you're a thief, so you'll just get your ass kicked if you try to kill guards and such.

ok so i got this to work, the only thing i didn't get was when you finally click ' Thief ' to run it and open up the FM selector, instead of saying ' Exe ' mine just says Thief and when trying to do an Archive path, it just gives me a blank file name to ' open ' and not save or create, either way i went into the Gold folder and made a folder titled ' FMSL ' fan mission selector, clicked on it, clicked on ' the black parade ' and it came up and installed, runs fine as of now.

Please anybody try it out on steamdeck? Anybody can help how drag Black parade on Steam deck please?

I'll need to back up my saves, delete and re-install Thief Gold to get rid of all of my sound enhancement and HD texture packs before I try this. I mostly prefer the original art anyway, so I guess it's kind of a good thing the Black Parade doesn't support these.

I just reinstalled, got rid of the previous mods and my og savefiles where still there.

This did not work for me. Shame there isn't an executable file that does all this for you. Oh well there are plenty of games that do work without having to screw around...

It was certainly designed for CRT, looks like trash on my OLED.

I've been struggling with this because some other idiot on youtube said I need to extract the black parade file. Don't do that.

Oh. It's for Thief Gold ONLY. That's a shame. The community spent 20 years telling us that Thief Gold is a cash grab pile of garbage.

dude, Thief Gold is only 5 bucks on Steam. Buying it is so worth it to be able to play The Black Parade. But, it is still possible to play TBP if you only have The Dark Project. Either way, the required patches will first need to be applied.
