    The snow cat was definitely the right tool for the job, that would have been a difficult job with the wrecker, just too soft. I like his idea for the hydraulic field chocks!! We had field chocks (sometimes called field spades) on our wreckers in the Army. They are great for pulling when on slick mud to keep you from pulling your wrecker instead of pulling the stuck vehicle. His hydraulic ones are the cat's ass, beats having to drag them out and set them up every time like the Army ones. Great video!!!

    @anthonyraines5951 I know of several "mud" trucks locally that could have made that same recovery without doing anymore damage than the tracked vehicle did. Look, the BSF recovery wrecker is quite capable, bit it has it's limits, and would have been unsuitable for this recovery. But there are other types of vehicles that are not designed to lift and carry, but are quite capable of towing!

    @anthonyraines5951

    Жыл бұрын

    @m riggs i think we will have to agree to disagree on that. Not saying it couldn't be recovered with a wheeled vehicle but there were many places in that video that the tracks stayed right on top of the ground and the vehicle being towed behind it just sank in.

  • @mahbriggs

    @mahbriggs

    Жыл бұрын

    @anthonyraines5951 Well it was the vehicle being rescued. It did not have the large tires associated with mud trucks. In fact, it was pretty much a stock vehicle. Did it even have lockers? My point is that it was not a very capable mud vehicle. There are many that could have handled that level of mud quite well. Even my Jeep XJ probably could have drug that Toyota out of there, and it far from a purpose built mud vehicle. My point is it that it did not take a tracked vehicle like to recover that Toyota. Kudos to the guy that did! It looks like a pretty good machine, I am certainly not criticizing him! Just the idiots that prevented somebody else from going in earlier to get the guy out!

The engine was good but the Transmission was lacking. I would recommend bringing one here and have someone who knows what he's doing go through it. I think it is just that good and it would make one heck of a towing vehicle.

    You definitely need a tracked unit after you build the new wrecker. It definitely would have came in handy in the S10 recovery.

    Maybe? Something. With dual purpose? Big Bob needs a Play mate Check out Murphy's diesel and they're tracked rig free bird. That's what Eric needs to look into getting. He can use that for backup and he can use it around the Homestead.

    Freebird is a beast. But its always good to add another tool to the toolbox so maybe a Snowcat and a winchbox for Big Bob.

    Those legs the first time I seen those was a show from in a different country and they use them on all there tow trucks and they work so well because they get very rough winters with so much snow and they get a lot of ice. You would use them an be so happy with how they work.

    That is a very easy thing for us viewers to say, but for someone who is running a business all day, or maybe 24 hours a day in this case, one may prefer to get a few hours of sleep a night instead of editing videos at 3am. Most people have no idea how much time it takes to put good content out on a regular basis - it's a full-time job in and of itself. And if your YT channel takes off, then THAT becomes your primary business. This may seem fine, but your livelihood is then at the mercy of a global corporation who has the power to demonetize you at the click of a mouse. Many people are not OK with that . . .
