Try advertising as a housekeeper. Interview them like you would for a job in order to stay safe. Getting it in writing in order to set hard boundaries that both you and they can abide by. Nah, much more humble a situation. I’m retired from my career, no longer work , and close to the end of my mother’s life became her companion. I was housekeeper, cook, you name it to her. However, it’s not one person but two or three. Family full of snakes. My brother is trying to steal the family manse from all his siblings, a sister so jealous she can’t see straight, she decided my career was to be hers (copycat), it’s all she can do to be civil towards me, and an adopted daughter that has some really serious issues….immaturity, hate, jealousy, gold digging, greed. She hurts the most. She might be pregnant and if she is, she’ll eventually try to dump the baby on me if she is, and has long ago said as much. She isn’t mother material. However, if she is, having a baby would force her to have concerns for someone other than herself and grow up. The brother and sister are thick as thieves. All is a hot mess. @@jl3268 I understand, however desperate times call for desperate measures. In my case I had little to no choice, as I’d hit burnout and the deal of room and board for services I’d have had to provide for myself and daughter was to good to pass up. However, every cloud has a silver lining. When the golden child got his divorce, he was in and I was out. It was rough time when it happened. Life did stabilize eventually. The cherry, though, was he forced her out of her home, my home also as it rightfully belonged to me and all my siblings due to a settlement in a divorce decree. She fled to another daughter who made no bones about just how much she despised her….and this daughter was also one she considered golden. Let go. Let GOD, who works in mysterious ways. Justice was served, and now my brother is getting his. Yet another sister and brother are suing him to have the house sold at fair market value and the money divided out to heirs.
