They Tried to Make a Street Legal Sur Ron

The Revv1 was one of the most popular ebikes of last year. Now we have a new 2024 update called the DRT. This tries to make the bike into a dual sport dirt bike with better suspension, tires, and looks.

I own a Revv 1 and use it as my daily commuter to work, and its a great bike imho. First off I live in the city so no rural roads with no shoulder. The top speed is fine more tq. would be welcomed, but the suspension is where I think the short is on the bike. The DRT looks like the solution, but they should have included the turn signals. I find the fact that the Revv 1 FS has turn signals to be one of the greatest safety factors in a city like NY. I have been looking at other moped style bikes like the up coming Nexx lev and the Graffiti. and I also like the Surron and Talaria etc. but i can tell the crack down is coming and I want to stay as close to legal as possible. Unfortunately with the Moto style bikes people are not going to have a leg to stand on, they are off road only. Im would love to purchase this bike but i'm thinking a suspension upgrade is probably more prudent. Please share your thoughts.

forgot to mention the rear rim is actually a motorcycle rim with super beefy reinforced spokes to handle jumps better i suppose.

Own a Revv 1 with the CST's on them still. When it comes to replacing them would you recommend the Huntsman tires or something like Michelin tires for a bike like that? I don't take it legit off roading, mostly on the pavement with some occasional dirt path use.

I don't believe they tried to make a surron. I think it was more of just a beefed up version of the bike.

I think they knocked it out of the park. Get the DRT and spend another $140 on the Huntsman tires and it would be an amazing bike to enjoy for many years.

The fork manufacturer, RST, has been around for a very long time making mostly OEM stuff for lower and mid-spec mountain bikes. They also make the Killah which I believe is on some Sur-Ron and Talaria models. I don't think RST is any less reputable than DNM or KKE. I think RST is probably a larger company than either DNM or KKE, and has multiple offices globally and a legitimate distributor network. Buy what you like but this isn't some no-name brand at all.

In my neighborhood there are 3 teenagers with minibikes that fly through doing 40+ on our tight residential roads. Gas minibikes that are loud as hell. At least you can hear them coming, but they do it at like 11 pm with no lights on.
