Planted Goldfish aquarium here! 🙋🏻♀️ They love it and I love it… all is well.
I’d love to tour the snail room! You guys are really stepping it up with the plants. That room looks fantastic
Of course we wanna see the snail room. As soon as you said the words, I was intrigued.
How convenient of John to be wearing a microphone!! Great video, very informative. Like the format of the two of you conversing.
Mind Blown John you and Lisa are in sync on almost a psychic level
Great to hear that anubias gets along well with Java fern. I’d heard that anubias are terrible leaf nippers 😂😅
Please do a snail tank/room video!! What you feed and how to care for them! My daughter brought some home from vacation with her Dad. I need help!!
I have anubias, java fern, AND large crypts in my goldfish tank. Going on 2 years now, and the plants and goldfish are both doing amazing! 😍
I love seeing that you keep so many plants fully underwater. I can only imagine this must help us with establishing our plants versus coming straight from emersed growth farms.
What I looovvee about this is… if ya go back and watch some “vintage kg tropicals”, you will hear John say - ‘I can’t grow plants’! Now, look at you!!! Papa Plant! 😂 Love the shirt Lisa! Yaaaassss to the snail video!!
I think this format suits y'all well very educational and lets the two of you flex your knowledge and experience.
I'm sure I only watch you both for the dry wit sarcasm that Lisa ignores 😂😂 and your great knowledge of course 😅 ❤
There are nothing better than getting up with a good cup of coffee and walk outside your garden with a inground goldfish pond and watching them come out asking to be fed. .water lilies keep the water cooler on hot sunny days along with palm trees. Who said that you can't keep tropical fishes with goldfish? I even have clown loaches with than. See the whole school at feeding time.
Absolutely love this channel. Learned so much from both of you. I’d love to have a huge gold fish tank but for now I have a 15 gallon betta community tank. In spired by Lisa as I watched her love for bettas and knowledge of what fish get along with them. Tank is thriving and truly enjoying it. Thank you Lisa 😊
Yes do one with the snail room
That would be fun to see all the snails you have!
My gold fish never eat the Java Fern. Having a peace lily in the tank is beautiful too!! I also have a TON of Hygrophila corymbosa and they don't see to mess with it at all. I love that plant because it grows like crazy, makes a beautiful background and is so easy to propagate.
Wow you guys have some beautiful plants with some nice roots another great video from Lisa and John
Yes Lisa do a snail video! That would be cool 😎
Man, I love your goldfish tank. So much nice open space.
Thanks Lisa and John 💕👍
Thanks, Lisa and John! Awesome video 😊 I’m still in the build phase of my new fish room in the basement, but as soon as I get everything situated, including a utility sink, I’ll be coming to you for some of your beautiful plants.
I love john and Lisa humor
When John say they will pick u a good one that's the truth they have a awesome setup an it shows
What a great plan set up! Looks amazing!
these two are such an adorable couple

Loved the video and absolutely loved Lisa’s shirt!! So cute.
hahaha "i'm your boss too-"
Great setup for your plants!! 😍
❤❤❤❤ Yes, snails too please!!!
I never realized the amount of fish that loves plants. My three bumblebee gobies are always sitting, laying on my bigger plant leaves as a hammock.
large anubias is such a great idea for us in certain tanks.. yals back in fourth is always great
I had a 55-gallon with 7 goldies and Amazon swords and they left them alone. I am in the process of moving them to a 75 with 4 of them over and adding them as the cycle can handle new members. When there was a nitrite spike I cut back on food and the swords became very appealing to them. They also have went hard for moss tucked in some driftwood and the hanging roots of some large water lettuce the fish store said was grown in an outdoor pond explaining the size.
I wish I had a bigger tank. Those Anubias are gorgeous!!!
Show vid about those plant ponds👍
I absolutely have java fern in with my fancy goldfish. I also have anubis plants with them as well. I only had one fantail eat the brand new leaves off the anubis plants. For a bit there I was wondering why they where not growing at all but I happened to witness the goldfish eat it right down to where the leaves started. That goldfish got a new tank with plastic plants.
You two are so cute together! Thank you for this video, it's very helpful! 😁
Aw your kitties love you 😭🥺
omg the mic hahahaaa "already just happened to have it attached" 😂😂😂

I appreciated that way more than I should have.
Agree, other than them pulling some out, I've never had problems for the years I've had them.
Would love to see your snail room and how you keep them set up!
I have a planted goldfish tank. The Anubias and the java fern work real well. I actually have bacopa in the tank. I protect the roots with a terracotta pot so the goldfish wont dig up the roots. Of course we want a snail room video.
You're plants are stunning! I definitely want to see your snail room. And pretty please can we see the pond like every chance you get? I don't care if there's moss or algae or what ever. Would love to see how it is coming along.
I would love to see the snail room😊
Nice setup and I would like to see the snail house. Or is that where the cats sleep?
I have a fully planted 40gb with two full grown fantails in it. They grew up in a planted tank and they leave everything alone but the frogbit. I replace the frogbit often because the vegetation is great for their digestive system, so it’s great for them to eat. I would get duckweed but I don’t know if I want to go that route 😂
Yes please!! Snail room tour!! 🐌
Really love entire setup. My goal.
Yes, Ramshorn video, please. My rescues laid eggs already. 🙏🙏🙏😁
Anubias and peace lily are related 😜 Great Vid, thanks for sharing. Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
Of course I want to see a snail content, explain all about them.
Yes, snails deserve their own show.
Hi Guys: This was a great video. Would love to see similar videos on other plants and snails. You two have a wonderful ability to explain things in detail for all to understand, but in such a way that no feels intimidated if they are new to the information. Again, love the approach and great information.
I am successfully keeping large orandas with anubias, java fern, and Amazon swords.
Now I might actually get some "feeder" goldfish. I've wanted some but I don't like bare looking tanks.
I need some of those large anubias!
Along with being attached to my driftwood I put one of my Java Ferns in an easy planter it’s thriving even though I don’t keep goldfish lol
Just wanted to say Crinnim is fantastic with goldfish and would look amazing in your tank!
I breed goldfish in Wales, they are ace for plants like cattle of fresh water. The amount of waste they produce is like super food for plants.
Great info for goldfish keepers! I have fantail goldfish and i keep anubius, java fern and 2 kinds of bolbitis in ther tank and they don't bother them at all. Crinum calamastratum also should be fine with them.
Could you wrap the roots around the drift wood and then set it into the goldfish tank
Lovely 🥰 ❤ thank you 🙏
Would love to see the snails you have !
Anubius and Java Fern both work great with my goldfish. The goldfish pretty much leave them alone. Anacharis is another great choice, but for the opposite reason. Anacharis is basically like candy to goldfish. It grows super fast, but the fish love to eat it. That's definitely a good thing, as long as you understand that from the start. It's basically a "side salad" for their fish food. Get enough Anacharis in there though, and it can be somewhat sustainable, countering their munchies. The combo of slow growers like Anubias and Java Fern, works really well with the fast growing Anacharis. Hornwort is another good choice. It's a fast grower like Anacharis, so has similar water parameter benefits, but the goldfish tend to leave it alone for the most part. I pretty much keep all four of these in my goldfish tank.
I have a ton of java fern with my gold fish. They love swimming through it, and has reduced how often i need to change their water
Snail room please! It looks huge!
Yes, snail video, please!
I've got my Anubias planted in Fluval Stratum soil and it has already grown at least 5 new leaves in the last month, I don't know why people says it can't be planted?
I love your videos, but this one might be my favorite. The loose format rocks. 🤘
oh yes i am going to have to buy some of those ... for sure ...
Same thing with mbunas, I’ve seen them kept with anubias and the sort
I totally agree goldfish and plants actually go hand and hand together, just got to know how to root them using rocks or holders like you guys have shown in the past, I personal favourite is several along the tank edge and in the HOB, I know it’s not the Anubis you shown and have done that in another tank. Love this video and way to be John thinking ahead to be apart of a video! Goldfish also just happen to be also excellent of taking care of duck foot if it’s ever a problem! Love you guys and hope you both stay happy and healthy my friends! 😊❤

You need plants if you want to keep nitrates down without doing constant water changes. I have swords, moss in cages to prevent eating, water lettuce, pothos clippings and other small floating plants that occasionally get eaten but help while they are there. I only have to do water changes about once a month other than evaporation and replacing water taken for house plants.

@oscaryikes9822 he has to be at least decent looking. He scored Lisa didn't he?
What is the thickness on the liner y'all use for your plant water beds?
How do you keep the algae off the leaves?
I have 5 fancy with jungle Val, cryp wendtii, java moss, swords, and Rotala indica. For 6 months to 1 year now. granted the fish are not full grown, but so far so good.
Great video. Would love to see the snail room. Do you guys carry moss ball?
Best plants for dwarf gouramis and angels?
I cant comment about success with goldfish, but other goid options worth a try might be bucephalandra, which attaches much better than anubias in my experience, and has a similar texture so I can't imagine it being too appetising, and bolbitis, with these and your suggestions of anubias and jave fern you could get a great contrast of visual texture going in the tanks, and all can be attached in the same way. Any sturdy epiphyte plant is worth a try, in fact any sturdy plant is probably worth trying. You could also opt for certain house plants that can be grown out of the top of the tank, but research is higly reccomended on that option!
Love the cats 🫶
Best vid love it thank you 🙏 Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏽
I must protest MOST vigorously! my husband “ gave “ me 5 large (5-5” ) goldfish- who I temporarily ( while building fish pond outside )…put in a 60 gallon heavily planted tank … they have DECIMATED all the plants… they eat floating plants, roots of plants that only have roots in water ( edge plants), rooted plants in their entirety… I predict that when lisa’s goldies get a little bigger… there with be a plant devastation …. I don’t mean to rain on her parade … but my own experience has been DEVASTATING in the plant/ goldfish mix . Devastating for the plants ( and me - because the plants were my best filter - now constantly changing water, cleaning mechanical filters…

I have added two 5 week goldfish to my planted 125ltr(uk) 32 US gallon tank. Hoping as they grow out, the plants will survive. I don't think any of them are anubias. No idea on plant names but i didnt glue them anywhere, so i shall see!!
How many gallons is those tubs and brand name ?
Can anubias handle the colder water? I can get about 45-50 degrees during the winter here.
Aquatic banna plants are common in the goldfish tanks i see.
Keeping Anubias, bacopa, ludwigia, giant hygro, pennywort and swords with goldfish. They're all thriving
Lisa, is that really your wagon or the kitties ?
I've had a lot of success with Java fern. My gold fish have never touched it. Does Anubias nancon work well in regular tropical tanks? I've never heard of it until today.
🐌 🐌 🐌 🐌 yes please!
Are Anubias or any other plants that will work with higher Discus temps - 84 to 85 temp?
Could you do a show, or explain what fresh water RED SPOT ALGAE is? How to rid of it and what not? I got it in my 210 from a local dealer and I am having mixed information when I look it up.
I don't know why I struggle with Anubias. For me, they just seem to get covered in algae and eventually die off. Not too much light.

Gotta keep the nitrates very low unless you have other plants built up heavily to support them.

@MWilk098 Thank you. I do have many other plants in my 40B. I do need more in my 5 gal Betta tank. I plan on upgrading his tank soon, though.
Do one on angelfish please
One vote for the snail-room video here!
Is it possible to make a 10 gallon fully planted tank that could house a betta and some shrimp?
@sewerrat7612

Yea would add the shrimp first with rickpile/hiding spots. Once established can add beta they will eat shrimp let's occasionally.
Are anubias the only plants that goldfish wont eat?
Love cat,fish videos.
Anubias dont like me, I want to like them but it's not mutual. Would Vallisneria do the trick?
I wonder if it is the type of goldfish. I have Orandas and they eat everything, I can't even keep duckweed. Maybe I'll try a planted tank again in the future.

Almost all goldfish will eat duckweed.
