The reason why they say for V8 only is because of the aux coolers for the turbo. It needs a lot of airflow. That is why the license plate bracket is on the bumper and not center, and that only takes up minimal room. May have issues in the long run couple years from now, not just a year, but longer. Should be fine though, but they put the intercooler there for the airflow it requires.

Looks good! Just installed the Rough Country mount and 9500# winch on my 2012 F150 FX4. There were a few fitment issues but easy enough to solve. Great video! New Sub!

Question - The ACDK winch you installed is $439. Im thinking of going with the 13kLB Vevor Winch thats $278. Question i like to ask you is will the height (11.8" T x 20.9" L) of the Vevor winch still fit in that space? Oh mine is a 2017 F150 V8. BTW i loved ur video of it.

They have lience plate brackets just for that... that'll hold it self up

Can you reach the winch clutch handle? It appears to be on the top of the winch on the driver's side. Any winch clearance issues?

I can reach under with little problem (yet) the handle is behind on the drivers side. I plan on putting skid plates which will close that access. I plan on coming up with a secondary access point or lever. For now I’ve been leaving the clutch engaged. Stay tuned for videos of me using it and hopefully coming up with a better access solution.

I would've taken the cover plate out drill out the 3 holes in the center and put it back. cutting the bumper chrome wouldn't look good IMO.

Did you have to cut away some of the bumper mount flanges? I have a 2018 F150, and read one guy had to trim to fit the HF Apex

3.3 L V6? I stopped once I heard that cause it's the Ecoboost that's the problem cause of intercooler.

Did you have to cut away a little bit of the bumper flange mounts to fit the HF Apex??

Thanks for watching. At 08:45 is the only cutting I had to do. Everything else stayed and fit. Hope that answers your question.

Sir, would the winch you have fit a 2018 eco boost 3.5L 4WD? I appreciate any advice you have.

Unfortunately the winch is mounted where the intercooler is located on the turbo trucks. I have seen someone relocate the intercooler to mount this but not something I’d want to do for various reasons.

Did you need to add a remote wiring extension to have the 3 pin winch controller receiver mounted at the front?

The only issues are with the ECO BOOST models .....

Have the turbos held up in the long run? I’m thinking of doing the same thing but worried about airflow to the intercooler.

It's not an Ecoboost motor......no turbos or intercooler. You would absolutely have to relocate the intercooler on an Ecoboost motor.

That nylons sleeve on the rope isn’t there for decoration , you put that around the tree instead of bare rope

@@F150ownershipguy good video. I’m assuming when Ford says v8 only, it’s in regard to the electrical system. I just ordered a 2022 f350 and they made me upgrade to the 397 amp alternator for the warn winch package. How’s your electrical dip? You can always add a second batter if needed. Very easy to add a second battery. I added one on my 2020 Sierra 3500 and no power issues at all.

Tizzy_life. It’s possible but it was the winch plate kit that was V8 only. But now you have me thinking I should upgrade my alternator… also your new truck sounds sweet

@@F150ownershipguy winches are high amperage drawers, you may experience lights dimming or even a close engine stall while under load if your winching something heavy. I’m sure your factory alternator will do, but you’ll shorten the life span drastically unless it rated to put out the amps required for the winch. Is even safe guard more and add a second batter for it to draw from before it draws of the main charging system.
