We humans find value in things even more transitory like pets and hobbies. By laws of supply and demand, the less an item is in stock, the more demand grows, and the more valuable it appears. Have you heard of the phrase wish upon a shooting star? A shooting star is really an instant. It enters our atmosphere and it burns itself until it dies completely, yet we humans view it as something completely magical. And I guess it checks out that we can't help but place value in our short lives and even shorter less valuable things around us simply because we are only human. Therefore, the value of things in life whether it be everlasting or a flash of lightning have value so long as give them value. It doesn't need to be derived from factual evidence nor scientific proof, it's just something we humans do.

Although I love this version, Rem in the original Japanese song sings it so sad and melancholically. She finds humans pitiful. This version of Rem loves humans. She sounds fascinated by them and has faith in them. Rem has become an entirely different person.

Hey super cool insight! Just wanted to let you know that this is actually the original. The songs were written in English first and then translated to different languages for their respective shows. While there was never a production of the English version despite there being ones overseas, and a few official recordings were still released.

@@EscapismAddict Well, yes, I did learn because of the PJO series, but the actual story is about a man who’s name I have no idea how to spell. Death comes and is like, you die now, so dude ties him up and holds him hostage. As punishment, he’s made to stay in the underworld, pushing a bolder up a hill. He’s told that when he gets it to the top, he can go free, but each time he almost gets there, the bolder rolls back down the hill again.

Doesn't it transcripts a state in which you are powerless and can only put your life in the hands of things you believe are biger than you such as "fate" or "gods" for you feel as if you can't change the situation by yourself? And indeed, sticking to the purest version of "good" is being hecking powerful~^~ (on a side note, i stick to what's good but don't have to pray to do it, would you know why the people you speak of do? Is it because they were raised with their religion and have associated it the the concept of "good" and pray to "what needs to be done to be good"? or is it something else? @@haramea if I am gonna speak with experience I gotta say that a great trait of following these cultural habits really get you along with people with the same habits. Am a Muslim and but wasn't raised practicing it. I thought myself how to embrace what I already was. Huge respect from my core family and especially from my people back in my homecountry. it Is to belong to a community that makes me happy. I'll pray with family and with friends. Of course Death Note has a musical. Of course it does.

The song begins with two Shinigamis (gods of death), Ryuk and Rem talking about how pitiful humans are because of the pointless actions that they do such as “confusing fate with chance” and “blaming fate for their lives.” The Shinigamis point out that they do this because “they’re only human” and they can’t change. Now I have to research what the Shinigamis God's of death where about but the song makes more sense now because I read that the lyrics and Ryuk and Rem are making fun out of the human beings who had no care and selfish and greed. The more I study about the different God's who were considered the bad ones,,the more I respect them because they spoke the real Truth while the God in the Book of lies had hidden truth banned from people and if they had any written information about the truth, they were Executed, beaten and because they found the secret scrolls by accident and the Roman's killed them and his the secret truth is in the Vatican where its still hidden away to this day. They were scientists and about logic and truth too.

I think the word "call" in this song has something to do with gambling, such as the phrase "calling one's bluff". At the end of the song, Ryuk wants to take the first opportunity he could find to use the death note and a random human (Light) to make his "eternally boring" job more amusing.

I haven't seen death note the musical but I can just see the actors doing a really badass waltz to this song for some reason

I really like the shift from Ryuk's "They give and they take" to Rem's "They give and WE take", as well as their respective responses "hoping someone will help break their fall" and "'till their silly hearts break" showing how Ryuk considers humans worthless and even hilarious, being ultimately responsible and guilty of everything that happens to them while Rem feels saddened by how humans are unknowingly at mercy and in the hands of circumstances and external forces like shinigamis, only being able to rely on one another while Ryuk mocks how powerless they are against literally everything the universe throws at them

I love their voices. God bless you all 💓
