@stickgs. You may already know this. Neil Finn of Crowded House has been playing Maton guitars for years and even has a rare 12 string electric model. Apparently Maton have a "Neil Finn" Signature model in development/ready for market. I am sure that Neil was "test driving" a prototype at this years' Glastonbury Festival. Looked like Maton had changed their "hole in the headstock" design for the NF Signature model (maybe?). Stay safe and well.

Tommy definitely brought a lot of attention to the name but even before he got his hands on one they were making superb guitars. I think it would have been a matter of time before other artists realised their quality and started promoting them.

Arno Deboosere played a Messiah 100 on Let It Be, a Beatles song. Totally different, I think a tighter string tuning, but it sounds sooo different. Find it. Beautiful. I believe much of it is in the construction of the finger flesh and bone.

I spent almost 5 years in Australia in the 70s and played many Matons. FANTASTIC INSTRUMENTS! And they’ve just got better and better. One of the best kept secrets among American guitar players.

The best sounding acoustic guitars. Incredible tonality. Thanks for this.
Sheeew Weeee.... That tone the Messiah has is something now!! May have to make the 100mile trip from KY to the music city and check one out myself!!
I could listen to that for hours. Those are some beautiful guitars.
"Man that's got a great response" Exactly what I thought when I auditioned an EM325C (bog standard, satin finish, AP4 pickup) sometime around 2010 and became a lifelong Maton fan, reinforced by some of my favourite players endorsing them too. Great feel, great tone, great build quality. Cool to see someone with JJ's skills noodling around on some really lovely guitars, cheers for the vid mate

I can listen to you play forever! I love everything you do! ❤️
👍👍Thanks for taking us along. I love listening in when you shop. One of each would be awesome.
Justin, I really appreciate that you played very similar riffs on all the instruments so we could really hear all the tonal palates of each guitar.
I have a Maton from 1972, plays beautifully and sounds so warm.
Oh man! great! and how clear do they sound even over internet! beautiful.
I love how guitars sing when you play them. It's like you have a relationship of love, respect and affection with them.

Super video. Have been playing more than 50 years, and until I heard Tommy Emmanuel play, I had never heard of this guitar brand before? I wondered to myself..." why isn't Tommy playing a gibson, guild, Martin or taylor? Well, now I see why lol. And for the record, Justin is a masterful player!

Messiah is beautiful, perfect sound
I liked the Mini the best. Very spunky!
Blessings and thanks from Toronto brother. Excellent work.

I am surprised the AP5 pickup system was not mentioned. I have a much more expensive Taylor which I love but will always grab my Maton if I am plugging in. I have the older AP4 pickup system and it is fantastic.
So good to see you again! What a gorgeous guitar! Love that Mini Maton. That would be perfect for me! Sharing this video opened a whole new world for me. Thank you! You are so blessed with talent!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
The Messiah sounds amazing when you play it.
My favourite player. The Justin Johnson. So awesome and inspiring you are. Always stellar content, and playing I’d refer to as otherworldly.
The Messiah has a heavenly sound, but all these guitars sound good in the hands which even make a cigar box or a shovel sound great.
Nice work I’m in Sydney and it’s great to see Aussie products do so well
Justin is a gift from God.
Even on my phone the Messiah sounds amazing.
Well you just made a lot of Australians very proud , so good to see you playing Maton guitars. They get better yet since you can also get them custom made to your specs, I bet they would love to build one for you Justin 👍
Justin seems to have a really nice personality along with great guitar skills. Wow!
Discovered a Maton EBG808TEC Tommy Emmanuel guitar a month or so ago (of which I hadn't heard of before). Was truly impressed with the guitar. Well worth checking out.

Hey, very interesting. I enjoyed learning of these guitars. Maybe there is some hope for my old incredibly shrinking hands. Thanks a million, m.m.
Very impressive demonstration
Very good lucking Justin your great ply guitar amazing🤙🤙🤙🤙
The Cedar top sounded great! I'd really like to hear a sound comparison of different woods in dreadnoughts. I'm not fortunate enough to have a store nearby that has a variety of woods and body shapes. I like the sound of dreadnoughts the best. It seems other shapes don't resonate as much and cut-aways resonate even less. More space = more sound.
Now this, is the sound of magic!

I really believe Justin is the most under rated guitarist alive. He has a clarity in his sound.
Fretboard on the Tommy Emmanuel guitar is gorgeous, I got a mini maton 12-string myself and love it. So much louder than size would imply!
I learnt to play on an old Maton Alvarez. It was bought for my uncle in the late 50’s when he was a kid and it bounced around the family until it was given to me around 1990. Still have it, it’s rough as guts but what a piece of history. Proud Aussie, glad my first guitar was too😁 Also great videos Justin, love your style

Love cedar top guitars. Bought a Simon and Patrick acoustic cedar top for my son years ago. It's got such a warm mellow sound and stands out from the crowd from the 'bright' sounding Yamaha or Takamine guitars.
I played Maton guitars, mainly 12 string Messiah, throughout the history of The Seekers.
Cool I only became aware of Maton Australian guitars from Justin Sandercoe And then later on Tommy Emmanuel
À great moment ! tks
Justin Johnson and Maton guitars ... it was destined to happen ... Synergism defined ...
I have a Maton S70 dread, & a SRS808c. Both are beautiful instruments to play & have a lovely tone. Play them every day, & they just better & better. Wish I could make them sound like you do, but hey, we’re all different. Loved the review man, & as always, your playing. Cheers. TimC from Brisbane Australia.
Absolutely love my Maton in Burgundy colour with a cutaway. Bought it 22 yrs ago for AU$2.5k brand new and it’s only just starting to show a couple of those awesome aged relic cracks in the paint. The tone of that wood is just so beautiful now. Never to be sold only inherited ❤
Damn you play so well. Just magic
