I was a little concerned I sold my Mom and Dad's house after they died and their system was 21 years old and R-22 but they had had relatively little trouble with it so I called the Company who installed it and the Man who showed up said he was the one who actually did the installation! He was happy to see it was still plugging along. All he could find to do was a slight recharge about half a pound and I had him change the thermostat because they had an old one and I got a touch screen digital. The people who bought the house didn't seem to be concerned about it so that was good.

With all of the hype of technology and artificial intelligence, you would think someone would have created a bark filter by now. "Hey Alexa, mute that barking!" 🤣

You need to get the bottom of a/c in the window change .

It appears the side closures on the window unit are a pain. But I bet it cools real nice like.

I have a GE Porta-cool window air conditioner that still works. It was only used to cool the bedroom until I got a huge Window unit at Montgomery Wards. 18,000 BTU. It lasted five years and two months, then the compressor seized. 5 year warranty, lol.

When you get this unit back, make sure you pull the drain plug on the back of the unit, the condensers rust out like you wouldn't believe. It'll also dehumidify better

12:36 In the summer of 2012, I lost an air conditioner that way. Poor feller dropped from the 2nd floor to the roof of a carport and then bounced to a paved driveway. There was no putting humpty dumpty back together on that one.

I cool my shop with a 1966 Fedders window unit ..still going strong. I also had a '67 Frigidaire window unit in my rental...got stolen a few years ago. Great unit, too.

Curtis you should get the ge profile saddle window units for cases like this. They are way easier to install.

I have a soleus air saddle with heat pump function and it is absolutely flawless. The weatherization it comes with is closed cell foam blocks and a roll of closed cell sticky backed foam for top and bottom. Much better than the standard acordian garbage.

Is there no insulation that goes around that window unit?

I don't know why they wouldn't add a couple of arms that would hook over the edge of the window sill just a little more stable

Oh my. I always put an old towel under a unit to fill in those empty spaces. Also, at the very least a 2x4 under the back ( on the sill ) to stabilize it from falling out. That single pane window is not heavy enough as a weight to hold it in place. The unit is quite, though.

Is it too much to ask companies to engrave the unit info on a metal plate and rivet it to the unit?? To avoid faded out sticker syndrome.

In the old day before laser labels they had metal tags but some servicers will pull them out with a screwdriver and take'em with them! Seen that quite often!

Good of you to rent the window unit. The company I work for will install window units or spot coolers after there's a signed contract and at least a 10% payment on a replacement system. We've been burned in the past when a customer would promise the world to get window units, ghost us and buy from another company.

You should do a review of your van lay out

When I see old units like these it surely makes me apprciate my Goodman heat pump more, and that last unit has a gas furnace.

Della makes pretty good and efficient portable and window units. Not quite as good as the GE ClearView or Midea Saddle style ones, but still great for general use.

Seems like only a few people can weed wack or grass clear around the units. You would think that some would especially knowing you are coming to get them fixed up with cooling. I guess since so many are rentals that the tenants just don’t care. Good Video as usual. Good gesture too with the window unit.

1 ton midea inverter u shape window unit is 450. I think that is the way to go for most in a pinch. i love my whole house but man was it expensive. pieces for dual fuel was 4600$. Install would have been another 15000. Yikes You are a dog lover. we can tell. Curtis, is that your name. Some have said. You are awesome and patient. Your nutrition has to be on point. Low carb maybe. Be well folks. Eat butter and red meat, it heals. Skip meals. Skip soda and candy.

Window shakers can be a head ache to install . I have dropped one out of the window after I spent an hour cleaning it .

I dropped a brand new one out the window 🤦🤦 it survived and still works years later but it's pretty beat up 😂

If you want to see something amazing, watch the KZread video where the man bought, 'the cheapest welder I could find on Amazon', to see how long it would take to fail, and to see what it could do. It was the size of a loaf of bread, and not much heavier, yet the performance was equal to a welding machine costing hundreds of dollars. It was an inverter powered machine costing about $100. There are a lot of smart electrical engineers in China. Even from a 120 volt outlet it could use a 1/8 inch diameter welding rod no problem. They will sell hundreds of millions of those window units around the world. It will be interesting to see how long they last. I wonder how much copper in in one? Clear shipping tape would close those gaps around that window unit for years.

Those all in on R22 units is cheaper to replaced than fix it. by experience!

I hope you put the L bracket window lock on that sash so the window cant be raised off the air conditioner. They are required by law to include them in the hardware package with the manual.

I replaced a Pioneer (18 seer) m/s with a Della 22 seer at almost same price, built like a tank and was the size of a 2 ton, high seer, and works way better and better options than the Pioneer of which their Cust svc was terrible and was built away cheaper.

Not the air conditioner fault its' Window design here is the problem and the age of this window itself can make it difficult to install window units there no lip on the window which is required to install modern window units.

Wow, so much so wrong with that window unit install... SMH

I'm sorry but I got to say this that company forgot to give you something for that AC and you know what that is The Styrofoam for the top of the window yeah that's a big problem right there cuz now you got that opening on the top of the window did you just opened think about it That's what that piece of styrofoam they always stick in the box with an AC is for everybody forgets what that's for

You should carry dog treats with you.

Everybody leaves out the mullion seal. Bugs and even bats will come in.
