The new style obviously took a long time to make and it does look good, and I'm sure you've heard this on every video, but we all just really miss the characters and the lore, the jokes, and the old animations now too. I'd say probably the best thing going forward, from a very long time fans prospective, is to do these, but also either have the odd video with the old style and characters, or have the old style and characters, jokes and all of that mixed with this new style. We just really want the family back, and the jokes too. I laughed so much even at the sponsored segments because you guys made them funny!

Even though the sign didn't save him I'm glad it saved others and I'm sure he would be glad it helped someone else.

What a very interesting story. His parents at least get a resolution about their son - - condolences to them. 🕯🥀 I wonder if the rescue team, left that SOS in place or if they moved those tree branches and piled them up close to that clearing (just in case someone might need to use them for a current SOS)?

It's nearly miraculous that, not only did someone else make an SOS sign, but also that they happened to be in that clearing, not even knowing the sign was there.

I don’t understand why the sign maker didn’t stay with the SoS sign.

It is indeed a sad story, knowing that the person whoever made that sign not being saved in time, yet somehow saving the lives of others later on, even though they never knew the sign existed... :(

Respect the new style and the hard work it took to make it but I do miss Brew's face on screen and the little creature in the tank (I forget the name). I'll get used to it eventually but I'm glad there's a bunch of old videos I haven't watched yet that I can enjoy still too.

Nah, when you're in the air, if it's big enough and regular fly overs in an open field you'll get picked up. Make sure you do it in an open field someone made this sign years ago without little air traffick The real problem is getting the wood without tools. That's why they need more patrol helicopter pilots

They totes "fixed a mistake" ruling the bones to be fitting the male subject. It definitely wasn't because they wanted to close the case.

Which is sadly pretty common in Japanese culture. They call it "mendokusai". Journalists are even pressured to not investigate and just repeat whatever the police tell them, no matter how nonsensical it sounds.

Ironic how a sign he made failed to save him in over two years of its existence yet it saves someone else in two days.

I'm glad that the SOS sign had helped others to be rescued, but I can't imagine how Iwamura must've felt. The desperation, the fear and finally acceptance as he accepted that he will never be found and as he drew his final breath.

Hey the new videos look...nice and all? But I loved the old style, much more approachable and probably easier to output. Please? Just think about it? God bless

The drawings with no noses had a charm and recognised look to them

they went from "these bones belong to an O-type blooded woman" to an A blooded type man, sounds more like that "mendokusai" culture to me than an actual "mistake"

In case anyone was wondering what mendokusai means (like me) without wanting to search it up (unlike me)... basically it's in the same neighborhood of 'can't be arsed' near the street of 'ain't nobody got time for dat'.

@@Daeca yeah, japanese doesn't really have an actual translation for many words unlike much people are taught, because of how isolated they were from the west when they developed their own language, but you can give them rough meanings, but you really have to understand their culture to actually learn how to use each word, when and with whom, else you'll just be mistaken often, and if you look asian and they don't know you are from somewhere else, someone will get offended eventually, else they'll just rub it off as "it's just an undereducated foreigner"

I really miss Brew's old style.

Love the stories! You do an excellent job compiling and retelling the information. But damn…I really miss the characters. It makes me sad that they were just phased out with no explanation. It added charm to the videos and got me lowkey invested in the whole little “universe” y’all had created

Such a shame that the forestry service took aerial photos, but no-one looked close enough to see the sign

As an experienced woodsman I can't count the number of times people I've gone into the woods with were totally lost. On one hunting trip I went with friends to a place they said was a good spot and went to every year. On the first day we set up on a ridge, on the second day we had walked over 20 minutes longer than the last prompting me to ask my friend where he was taking us today. He looked puzzled and said to the place we were at yesterday, I told him he passed it awhile back and wound up having to lead the party back to the right spot

It’s so haunting to hear that recording and know that he died like that, desperate for help

Ah yes, another reason against going hiking.

ALWAYS Carry a CD or DVD. You look through the hole to aim. It's been proven they can be seen better than most survival etc mirrors. Due to their size. But a mirror with a hole in center is recommended.. Unsure of a DVD vs CD. But DVD has more piercing color spectrum. All 3 are good for you to 7 miles. Due to the circles. Enhances the reflection. Lime a reverse magnifying glass..

I'm sure with injuries a singular man couldn't have moved so many logs, unless he escaped being trapped and healed through a very long time, which begs the question if he was the one who made the sign why wouldn't he just have hiked and followed a river or trail. I'm sure hiking with broken bones would be easier than trying to lift or pull logs repeatedly.

Why the Style change? I liked the old one.

Fast tips to save your life: Tell people where you will be and how long! Tell multiple specific people to identify when you are not back or communicating that you are gone for longer then expected to know to look for you! 2: DO NOT MOVE! yes, you are lost or injured, do what you must to survive but dont go trying to find your way back! Staying still when you are lost in an area they know to expect you is WAY BETTER then being lost where THEY DONT KNOW YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU MOVED TOO MUCH! Tend any and all injuries and then STOP IN PLACEand find a way to communicate! Such as a small fire (dont burn the forest down!). It may be day time but you need to STAY STILL. STAY PUT. If you followed step 1 people will know you are lost because more then 1 person needs to report you! Sure, telling more then 1 friend is inconvenient but DYING is way more. Telling more then 1 person where you are and that you will communicate when you are safe and then not moving when lost will keep you as close to where you should have been as possible. If no one knows that you ran miles/kilometers from where you were supposed to be then how are they gonna find you? if they know you are lost and they tell the authorities and they come to search for you they're gonna start FROM where you got lost NOT where you are now!

A couple corrections: the size of the image of the SOS sign was 0.9 cm, or 9 mm, not 0.9 mm. This translates to 0.35 inches, not 0.1.

You know Fahrenheit, one friend knows Celsius, and the other knows both. Say you leave to go fishing, and your friends need to cook something, but the degrees for safe consumption are in Fahrenheit, and your friend that only knows Celsius reads that. So, your friend who knows both Fahrenheit and Celsius converts it from Fahrenheit to Celsius so they understand how hot the food would need to be internally to safely consume it. How many changes were made? 1. S/he converted one unit to another. That is what this post did. They changed the measurement, which would, by very nature, change the other. They aren't mutually exclusive since it simply a conversion. You don't need to know that 0.35 inches is also 0.9 cm to know it's 0.35 inches. But, if you did need to know what cm into inches is, you'd need to know that 0.9 cm _converts into_ 0.35 inches. Changing 0.9 cm to 0.8 cm wouldn't keep the conversion at 0.35 inches; and the very nature of that one digit change _changes_ the 0.35 inch measurement. So, no. It is not 2 changes.
