My mom and I were homeless. We squatted for majority of my younger life growing up in Oakland CA. My mom couldn’t afford to move anywhere with me. We stayed in abandoned houses most of time. I would eventually be put into the system and adopted by my grandparents. My mom stayed cause she didn’t want to leave me and she was an addict. My father was in prison for attempted murder. Homeless people are the laziest people ever majority of the time. My mom eventually got into a government housing program in a 1 bedroom studio and changed her life around. Clean, career, and involved in her kids lives.

@@josenovelo803 we would steal or use food stamps regularly so food wasn’t a problem tbh. Also, in CA there are a lot of government housing programs but, like in the video, they require you to be completely clean and have an objective plan to become apart of society. It’s the drugs part that turn a lot of homeless away. They’d rather shoot or smoke glass than live drug free. It frustrates me seeing them honestly.

Honestly might be a hot take but the Christian shelter makes sense. Christian donors are paying for it so that's the expectation. As he said they don't force you to become Christian just attend the session. That's WAY better than just being left in the street. If people want to see agnostic shelters they need agnostic funding which isn't happening unfortunately.

how is that a hot take It is basic common sense, homeless centers that are not run by the government are allowed whatever rules and regulations they reasonably allow. And if you're not willing to have an hour bible session to not be homeless then stay homeless simple.

I didn’t have friends add my car and I had two cents in my pocket and I was working two jobs at the same time so it was really hard to find anywhere to stay or be around or be safe and mind you. I stay in Los Angeles so I was one of the hardest things I had dealt with, but I’m better now I have I rent a room with eight peopleand I’m doing for myself, but it’s not easy being homeless at all especially being homeless or homeless in general and can’t get a job

You can’t just move cause you’re homeless and housing is expensive af. When I moved to America with my family we ended up being homeless with like 3 months because even though we had money we couldn’t like get a place on our own and my mom was like working from 6am - 3am and we paid someone before moving here to get an apartment and stuff and once we got here we lived in the apartment for 3 months and were asked to move by the other lady and we already paid the guy a whole year lease before moving btw so we basically got scammed and I was crying at school and the social worker ended up referring my mom to a homeless shelter and living there was the worst 1 year of my life. My brother and I had to sleep outside in the cold in rain in snow with just our jackets after I pick him up from school after my school (I was on like 8th grade) till my mom gets back to the building at 3am because we arent allowed to go in without our parents and we wouldn’t eat for that time to till my mom comes and brings food. It’s weird cause we had money plus my moms working but the living conditions wasn’t good so makes everything not good and I like almost offed my self 3 times. I felt like I even deserved it like I came from being a spoilt little brat to moving to a new country and being homeless and going to public school and stuff. But at least I learned to value things and to be street smart and do a lot of things.
