They FINALLY OPENED The Gates At This MASSIVE SPILLWAY!!! (Fish Went Crazy)

Спорт

I've waited ALL YEAR to fish this place. I kept seeing pictures of people catching fish, while the water was turned off, and the water was stagnant. With the EXTREME DROUGHT coming to an end thanks to Mother Nature PMSing, the gates were OPENED. I packed up all my crap, and started speeding my way to the southwestern corner of Nebraska. Once I arrived, I was greeted by the fish going absolutely CRAZY.
Thank you to everyone who purchased merch over the last couple months, I appreciate each and every one of you. Mucho loveo my stached friends.

If you want to fish a lure in heavy current you have two options. Heavier weight on the lures like a small swim bait and jig head. Or, reel faster to keep up with the current and keep your bait moving forward through it and not getting all washed around. You can also rig up a tandem jig head rig and that will have a similar effect of using a heavier weight, but also presents the distinct possibility of hooking 2 at once, so you’ll definitely need to bump it up to 14-16lb test line on the spin pole for that application.

I personally use heavier braid main line and use a 10’-12’ mono/flouro leader line. Blood knot to splice the two. And the heavier the braid you use, the better it will match the size of your leader line and the less likely it is going to be able to cut into your leader line inside the knot, and create a bad day.

Problem with this place is, is the pillars cut way up your line. You'd have to tie a long azz leader.

Have you ever seen anyone fly fishing with streamers down there Josh? I'd imagine a nice sized stream would get some good sized wipers or white bass. That wpild be fun.

Bro, I got on a wiper/striper bite last summer, it was the first time I had ever consistently caught them and it was a blast. Everything just came together. I was in the laurel lake tailwaters in KY where it dumps into the cumberland river. I went upstream in kayak looking for smallies and we had some crazy storms earlier that day. All the sudden they started cranking water, it was cold water and the fog was so thick off the water it blocked the sun. I was throwing a little jig behind current breaks up by where the water dropped down a big waterfall from the dam which was way uphill. I just got hammered, bout ripped the rod outta my hand and it was a huge fat wiper. Then i caught like 3 striper.... they were longer and thinner, more aerodynamic shaped. Then i caught another big wiper, and i mean for rest of the day I just had some of the most fun fishing ive ever had. Now I want to make the trip again, it's like a 3 hour trip, but I have to plan it around a time I know they will be pumping water.

You would like fishing Kirr Damn on the VA NC border. Its a hydro electric damn and they pump some water out. Makes hooking a 20-30 pound blue a hell of a fight and we have stripers and walleye. I just use 1/4-3/4 ounce gottcha jigheads and a zoom superfluke.

Thanks for another video Stache-imus Prime! If ya wanna try some mono and are used to braid, try some Vicious. We use the 12 lb and can boat flip 3-5 skips on a pontoon. I'll gladly pay $5 a spool at the Walymart.

The tense up thing in the fish is basically a muscle cramp from exhaustion. its more common in wipers than WB.

Never cared for braid. Tried it once, it was berkley fire line. I hated it. I am an old school berkley tribe fan. I've been fishing for 40 years...prove me wrong! I am a big stream and river fisherman. Braid is way to visible in the water. Everyone says " use a fluorocarbon leader". So what you're saying is braid sucks, and you need a mono or florocarbon leader so the fish cant see your line. Like I said I will never switch!

It has its advantages. Casting distance, no stretch, thin diameter. Just doesn't do well around structure.

Braid is most brittle when under tension I'm sure that's where you broke off on the piller... the best leader is always mono for abrasion... Fish are not as line shy as you think.. split rings and trebles and plastic bills are far more visually obvious than line... Use as big of line as you can get away with.. I fish large hydro dams in south Oklahoma and north Texas for striper.. I use 10 6' and 11 6' surf rod with a 5k and 8k reel I use 20lb and 30lb power pro braid and use Andy's 30lb and 50lb mono leader.. use your mono as a shock leader for whatever length is needed.. you should definitely try and learn cork and jig method.. 1oz to 3oz cork with 5 to 6 foot leader and 1/8th oz jig and your favorite soft plastic.. be a game changer
