yeah but also the pokemon that can actually learn every move also kinda only learns one move. for a gen 1 pilled andy, ditto normal type that learns thunderbolt is well thought out

@@handoverthestromboli6715 Ahh, so I guess they've changed how Mew works? Mew used to be known for its ability to learn any possible move. I remember Smeargle but doesn't that just copy a move and keep it? Mew actually LEARNED the move itself.

I don't know how but he managed to be absolutely hilarious about Pokémon with seemingly no actual knowledge of Pokémon.

​@Michael-kp4bd it's basically just the "nothing special about them"/"typeless" type. For example, Pidgey is normal type because it's just a bird while Ditto is normal type because it doesn't really have a type.

@@samt3412 i mean there’s no logic to that. Birds are usually (dual) flying type... and other animal Pokémon might have types. There’s no logic to “birds are normal cuz they’re birds” Based off of animal or appearance, plenty of ground type could have been designated normal. But yeah for the most part (besides gen1-3 “physical” damage only) it’s just another type, which carves out more strategy/ makes the game interesting in subtle ways. Or someone could answer specifically “what Normal actually means in Pokémon” if they cared to! 😄 My understanding is, besides being intentionally the common initial Pokémon you run into early game, they were categorized as Physical. They do no super effective damage to any types whatsoever. The rest is just basic type- matrix stuff like any other type- interactions. Specifically, they’re “not very effective” against Rock and Steel, and are defensively weak against just Fighting. And Ghost and Normal both do no damage to each other. Nice and easy to memorize, instead of some other types who have defense/attack pros & cons different across so many other types, that you have to look up or remember.

That was definitely a tough Pokedoku. There's like one or two ghost/fighting types, three normal/fighting types. Galarian ground types might number only two.

@@TheMarkoSeke imo Ghost/Ground is easier cause Golett+evo are very iconic (runerigus too if you played SWSH), Normal/Ground definitely tripped me up though since Diggersby is a pretty forgettable pkmn and Ursaluna is too recent to have properly registered in my memory banks.

@SirToastyToes I got Flutter Mane too but I forget which normal type I lost the streak with. I just know a lot of random mono-normal types have a lot of coverage moves that are never relevant because their BST is too low to do any real damage with them

Smeargle is a good answer for "can learn any move" as long as everything else works. Im pretty sure Smeargle is capable of learning any move, but im not a pokemon guy.

Smeargle can't actually learn any move. It can only learn Sketch. Sketch copies the last move the opponent used.

Smeargle only learns Scatch. Scatch just turns into other moves, but Smeargle doesn't actually learn them

As someone who knows a lot about Pokemon, and got bored of Pokedoku, they really did need to make it harder

I think it's arguably better. Anyone who knows a little can guess an electric type, and people who are trying to prove they know Pokemon trivia can differentiate themselves by picking Stantler or whatever and get a higher score.
