    I feel like the game has a trader for a reason. It’s to balance out the fact that you can’t put skill points in everything. If there wasn’t a trader the game would have to give you more magazines, xp, or crafting supplies.

    My friend and me, we go nuts in the wasteland with tier 6 infestations. It's like two guys go in blasting with m60's and keep walk out with more ammo than what we spend. The ammo in loot of t6 infestations is insane, thus we tend to switch it up with other weapons just to use up ammo we lot. Even in a stealth build you can sneak through them and pick of them one by one (almost) with a silenced weapon.

    My general rule in this game, for me, is if I can craft it, or I am close to crafting it, I don’t buy it. I don’t have to worry about game and viewer balance like you do, Kage, so I can get away with crafting so much more stuff. I can get away with doing more stuff, in general, and that's ok. I craft almost all of my ammo. I also do a shit ton of mining, so i can make gunpowder in my sleep. About the only time I buy ammo is when I've made one of my stupid Tank decisions during a mini horde or three, and I mean STUPID 😂. Now, onto that POI - That was a sit up in the seat episode!!! Saw the mountain lion and nearly threw the pen i was clutching 😂. Talk about action-packed! And you made it 💪! Fortitude is definitely the way to go if the game is gonna throw all of that at you. Don’t need you dying from an infected boo boo after you take everything down!

    Kage I'm 100% with you on the traders and buying high quality items. The last few games in A21 I modded the traders to not give weapons, armor, or tools for quest rewards but increased the duke payouts by 10-20%. It was a lot of fun because it made everything you do worthwhile. When you get a weapon a full tier above what you can make - yes, it's awesome - but it also is a "Why do I bother getting magazines, harvesting resources, etc." moment. (FWIW - it's very, very easy to mod the trader inventory to limit how high a tier they will offer for any item.)

    The lockable slots thing next to your dukes balance is really helpful. Lets you keep everything you want to keep in the first however many slots in the top row of your inventory so you don't accidentally sell something.

    I don't know or notice. If you put all you stuff you want to keep first, then open you sell box and take all. It fills up those slots you left open with that stuff. When you hit that sort container it mixes everything up with stuff you want to keep to stuff you want to sell. Then you have to be careful not selling something. First off been watching for many years so not trolling but I don’t understand your obsession with ammo. It can be crafted. Judging a quest based on ammo seems ridiculous. Infestation quest increases the zombie count and type of zombies. Both providing more XP which are needed to level up. I also want to express my appreciation for your play style. You don’t run or cheese with blocks/hatches. If you die, you die. One more thing, red dots appear when zombies spawn, not when awake. Which is frustrating if you sneak because you can completely sneak through a room and not trigger zombies to spawn

    If you have the time to do the mining, then crafting your own ammo is the way to go. But if mining isn't your thing, or you are trying to bring balance to your videos for you and your audience, then buying and POIs/jobs are the way to go. Gunpowder is an obscene bottleneck in the ammo making department.

    Not true. The red dots appear either when they wake or when you make your first kill in the area. Zombies spawn as soon as you enter the room, floor, or whatever the general set area is for that POI, they are there whether you see them (wake them) or not. Turn up your volume, you can hear them 'snoring'.

    On this point regarding traders i completely agree. They were and probably still are a bit OP. Its the apocolypse, what should be in abundance is salvaged crap TO MAKE STUFF WITH, not high quality items... tools and weapons. Its good that they reduced the amount of dukes you get now, they should also limit traders to quality 3 tools and weapons leaving the high quality stuff for crafting with reduced chance of finding them in loot. This would make it a more challenging play through and making more sense from the learn by magazine progression. I can get alot of dukes very early on from scrapping and crafting stuff but it takes the early game challenge away when you can purchase high level stuff, it kind of dulls things. More challenge is better. You're right...more emphsis should be on traders selling cloth, duct tape, glue, leather etc. Anyway theres a hundred different opinions out there

  • @wolfhors3_660
    @wolfhors3_66017 күн бұрын

    I think some people like to loot/sell and make a lot of money and just buy stuff rather than take the time to craft it. Like buying food rather than farming. I think selling blue items along with the nerf on how much stuff sells for is OK. Maybe that should be an option like a difficulty setting. But right now I think making enough money to buy a blue item or getting the perks and mats to craft one are about the same amount of effort. It just makes both play types valid. Just my thoughts.

    So far in my first 1.0 playthru it's not much different than A21 where overall I have a surplus of ammo in general. I just did an infested higashi run and while admittedly I stealthed a bunch of it with a machete, I came out of it with I think 20 extra stacks of ammo, it was kind of insane. They already severely nerfed how much you can sell stuff for so they have made things more expensive. Personally I rarely buy many if any weapons or high level stuff from the traders but the crucible is a different story to me. Without it being available at traders so much of the game is locked behind the RNG of when you manage to get enough magazines to learn to make one, I think them having for sale for 15k seems like a good trade off, outside of vehicles and solar cells it's one of the most expensive things they sell and with the lowered prices you can sell things for I think it's in a pretty good place.

  • @Linkbond
    @Linkbond17 күн бұрын

    Also, the fact you need something to craft steel that you likely won't get the books for UNTIL after you start needing steel is very stupid in my opinion. It makes you have to waste dukes to buy steel as a result of it and basically makes it a pain if you dont want to use the traders at all.

  • @Sukotto82
    @Sukotto8213 күн бұрын

    I don't personally have an opinion of blue items from traders. You can buy them or not but shouldn't take the option away from people who want to. If I did anything to modify traders trades it would be Making resources cheaper and other things more expensive. For example I would drastically reduce the cost of things like stones wood fiber sand clay basically all the resources you mine out in the wild and increase the quantity the traders offer. Modestly reduce the cost of 2nd stage resources like concrete cobblestone and other resources you craft from the basic resources and increase amount of the resources offered by the trader. Decently reduce the cost of tier 3 resources like concrete mix and stuff like that and increase amount available. I would also lower the price of crop items and increase availability of those items from the traders. I would increase the amount and variety of food drinks and healing items sold by traders but leaving those prices as they are. I would increase the price of items like guns ammo weapons tools and armor. I wouldn't change the price of weapon, tools, and armor parts but make more variety available. That's how I would change the traders inventory and I'd make adjustments where I feel necessary after implementing those changes. Many people would disagree with what I'd like to do but a few might agree. Ultimately I like games that let the players choose how they want to play and that includes mod support. Letting people make changes to the game that they want through mods.

    I understand why you don't want the traders to sell blue items, but legendary parts are so far and few between that buying off the trader or making blue (which can take a while to get to) are your only choices. On another topic, you have never done this but you can change your loot percentage to make those infestations give more ammo. In most of my games I usually don't have to craft it till the end so it naturally builds up. But the downside is that you do fill up faster.

    the infestations are worth it. People just either have bad aim or didn't bother putting points into damage. I've cleared plenty of tier 5 infestations with 1 stack of ammo, a steel axe, 1 stack of bandages and a pickaxe. On warrior difficulty. Idk why folks don't bother maxing attributes and damage perks. As far as magazines go people focus on quests way to damn much. Go out looking for crack a books, go after working stiff PoI, buy magazine from traders. It's like old school players forgot how to play the game and new players only think quests are the only way they can do anything.

    Come on! It wasn't THAT hard to sell those electrical parts, was it? It sucks about how close you are to unlock the crucible, though once you REALLY start using steel it's common to use multiple forges as you well know. IMHO, the way to increase Workstations high really fast is to go from city to city, finding the traders and looting their workbenches. It might be better to wait for a motorcycle, though. But at least forest traders should be doable in a reasonable amount of time with the minibike.

I have a pump shotgun that is decimating zombies. I have an SMG which is pretty effective at killing zombies. I have an AK which is worse than my melee weapon. I've killed radiated zombies with a couple of arrows with my compound bow, taking advantage of stealth for the first hit, and I've used the Assassin's set in MP and seen how it makes you essentially invisible. Then I see you using Assault Rifles while almost fully spec'ed into them and having a hard time killing the zombies. Have TFP boosted all other guns while nerfing machine guns? It certainly feels that way to me.

    You sold a level 4 unrepaired baseball bat with zero mods on it and then sold mods individually... Repair it, put as many mods on it as you can, you will get WAY more money. You shouldn't sell mods they aren't worth much, put them on decent items and sell them, every mod will massively raise the price of the item you are selling, works best with higher tiered items.

    You WON'T get way more money. Not in 1.0. he might get 10 to 30 more dukes than selling the mod separately. Repairing, yes, that can easily double or more the value.

    I have particular opinions about this game since I haven't played since traders were introduced. The whole, "hide under the trader's skirt until you can spray bullets non-stop," meta is all a little weird to me. It's kind of hard to find a way to make looting vs buying vs crafting all seem worth it without artificially gating the 2 other methods. Did they get rid of the secret stash concept? That made you have to invest into bartering in order to get the stuff.

    The secret stash is built in now. Those blue items and tier 3 items are part of it. They only show up if you have levels in Daring Adventurer. If kage didn't put points in that he wouldn't see them.

    Personally, I love your content when you are immersed. Whenever you get stuck in the meta (which you have been doing more and more as you played over the years) it is boring AF to me. Would be interesting to get other opinions on this.

    My take is... I love how Kage act as if he's in the scenarios. *Sit-up-in-chair-moments* truly excite me. Sometimes, if he's a background video and a moment happens, I shush people in the room to focus properly. 😅 I love his logic to things (wreching/selling elec parts). He has a solid against his morals, montra that I agree with - to a point. But I'm not playing to entertain others, Kage is. And I'm addicted to Kage vids. Alpha 18 is when I found Kage, fell in love with Subsistance and so many othe games thanks to Kage. W Kage ❤

    Putting mods on is barely worth the mod itself. Repairing, yes. Kage has so few dew collectors compared to me that I keep wondering what we are doing differently, and repairing everything is one of those things!

    Repairing tools and modding them up doesn’t drastically improve the price in 1.0 like it did in A21. And considering how much a premium is on cloth, it doesn’t really make sense to waste a repair kit.

    Burning 1500 for the crucible 😂 The 1500 was made back just BUYING the crucible. The RL time it takes to go through all the mods and install them where appropriate isn’t worth the handful of extra dukes you make. You like to play that way, awesome, but you can’t get mad when other people would rather not~
