Karen Travis wrote a hierarchy of genetic control that was placed on the clones. Regular CTs were engineered to follow orders, less obedience was written into CCs to allow them a significant level of independent effectiveness (in my head cannon, that's why members of the bad batch responded differently to order 66), and the ARC troopers were as close to raw Jango as the Kaminoans would dare to produce.

@@ApfelkaninchenI just want to see clan skirata again, or at least hear them mentioned. It's confirmed that other mandalorian clans survived outside of Sundari under Satine's rule, not just the Death watch. We know of at least a few clans as of the end of Heroes of Mandalore part 2, such as Clans Rook, Elder, Wren, Kryze, Viszla, Saxon, and the protectors, all of whom eventually came to support Bo-Katan despite her past in Death Watch (With the exception of Saxon, iirc), which no doubt was well known by then to all of the clans. That alone tells me that either A, the clans suddenly reformed and rearmed themselves with weapons and armor that's at least centuries, if not thousands of years old, after Satine and Maul were taken out of the picture, or they just went into hiding during the era of the new mandalorian government. And since we know from Mandalorian that at least some of the Mando'a translations that Karen Traviss came up with for her Republic Commando novels are still canon, with one translation that, while we haven't heard it since the novels to my knowledge, would perfectly explain the sudden disappearance and reappearance of the clans before and after Satine's time as Duchess, that being "Ba'slan Shev'la", meaning "Strategic disappearance", I think it's likely that Clan Skirata is still alive as of the Bad Batch, just still in hiding somewhere. Honestly, Bad Batch would be a great time to reintroduce Clan Skirata anyway. Kal Skirata literally adopted a bunch of the commandos including Omega squad, half of whom are, as of the end of Imperial Commando, still having to work for the empire as spies, Walon Vau trained Delta Squad, whom because of seeing Scorch in Bad Batch, we can infer that Boss and Fixer are still active as well, the Null ARC's who would definitely be inclined to help Hunter, Echo, and Wrecker after finding out that Tech is presumed dead, and who also would be able to pick up right where Tech left off in regards to being able to hack into the Empire's systems, as well as the fact that Clone Force 99 is in a prime position to need Kal's help to get back Omega and Crosshair. Season 3 of Bad Batch seems to have been built up to conclude with some kind of clone rebellion where the clones are fighting for their freedom, and what was Kal's number one goal during the clone wars? GIVING THE CLONES THEIR FREEDOM.

The Dooku episodes in Tales of the Jedi were good but the Ahsoka bits were not that great. The fight with the Inquisitor seems to have been far cooler in the novel (same with Kanan's escape in the comics). Filoni is notorious for changing good bits in novels/comics and churning out shittier versions in his own works. Yes they are the most independent and most tactical trooper but they were also the most loyal to the government and the most isolated from the rest of the regular clones. They see regs as the other and for sure and I bet they may also look fondly at the TK Troopers since they were trained by the Commandos, passing on their training like how the mandolorians taught them.

There’s no way Gregor was the only clone commando who had a problem with what they were doing.. and remember he only defected because he basically thought the TK troopers were lame… as far as we know he never saw the secret cloning project or the zillo beast.

I think it's likely that we are being set up here for the CCs are being turned into the earliest versions of Deathtroopers, considering them being attached to Dr. Hemlock. I hope Felonies headcannon here is that we only get to see the surviving hardline Clone Commandos, the ones that stayed loyal, while the big part of CCs have deffected already or maybe are about to. The only thing here speaking against this would be WHY Dave chose Scorch to be the one shown. Unless he is part of a bigger plan of departure for Delta squad, he is quite unfitting in that position. Unless he tragically is the sole survivor of Delta squad.

Here's the thing though. Why would the clone commandos defect in mass? All that lore about them being trained hard in mandalorian culture? that's GONE. It's been gone for many, many years. The commandos and ARC troopers being super unique in their ability to think independently has long been retconned to be completely false, all clones could think that way, especially if they were encouraged and around jedi a lot (Tarkin outright mentions this as a negative trait, Jedi made them unpredictable). All clones had the chip so no clone could just reject order 66 merely because they wanted to (like in the book was true for clone commandos), with the only ones who could ignore it being clone force 99, who were mutant/altered clones to begin with. Now unlike the nonsense that was the best clone forces could easily defect simply because they dislike Palpatine, we see the most elite forces STILL under his control, whether they are willing or have their chips juiced up and turned up all the time.

Honestly, I really like seeing the clone commandos as often we do now. It follows the trend of the empire misusing its most valuable resources. Instead of helping solidify the empire's grip on the galaxy, putting down dissent where it rears its head they are guarding remote installations or Imperial projects in the same manner crosshair or mayday did. With so many commandos shown the manner of training they underwent may not have been so intimate between instructors, or perhaps such traits would be lost in the sheer volume of commandos minted.

Well as of Canon since clone wars came out, I believe the whole "trained by Mandalorians" was entirely scrapped. We see some troopers trained by mercs/bounty hunters in the show, but it's not Mandalorians and they aren't getting that culture hammered into them anymore. The whole "ARC troopers are a special unique breed" was removed, as was Null ARC's and such. Though yes, it does tie into how the empire misused resources. They are ditching the clones in sloppy ways, using the commandos as an elite fighting force to guard classified bases and VIP's (not just remote bases, but classified remote bases)

This happens to the droids, stormtroopers (both imperial and first order), some bounty hunters, and other villains. It makes sense to have clones and clone commandos serve the empire if all clones had inhibitor chips, and they were activated and still functioning. That being said we don’t know the full details of clone commandos in this universe just the little bit we have. We base a lot of the commando history off of the old game and books that followed. Frankly it would just be nice to just get some games similar to the old commando game, but at the rate the gaming designers and developers are taking hits from execs. It’s gonna be rough. It would be cool if they address this in future content and as
