The Defence review should start with a new concept - honesty. Honesty about the UK's real place in the world. It may still be the 6th largest economy, but it's no longer a world power. There's only one real world power, the US, and tagging along pretending to be another one is delusional. Cut the forces to those actually needed to defend us on our territory and forget about cosplaying a world policeman. Then, apply honesty to what is actually needed in terms of kit for that reduced role and sort the MOD and defence industry out, getting rid of as much inefficiency as possible.. If either or both of these things are ducked yet again, the status quo will apply, with ongoing wastage of huge amounts of money that could more usefully be used in the NHS and social care amongst many things in dire need of funds.

‘Create chaos?’ Behave yourself. Reform have 5 MPs. Not 105, not 45, just 5. Same as the DUP, does that mean they’ll create chaos too? Plaid Cymru have 4 MPs, will they create slightly less chaos then Reform? Yes, Farage will continue to get airtime because the media love him, but he was getting plenty of airtime before he was elected. Bottom line is 5 MPs will barely make a ripple when it comes to votes in a parliament with Labours majority. To imply otherwise is being disrespectful to the electorate

The thing about an economy is that you might as well use it, if people want to buy your debt, SELL IT, take on debt. The real problem is making the people of your country dependent on well fare that is unproductive, you need to increase productivity so if you are going to take on debt and you should in the UK, you MUST spend it on INDUSTRY, jobs for people with low skills or NO skills. The UK does need jobs and opportunity maybe in the electronics industry. The USA is funding for you chipsets, the most expensive part of the puzzle, take it by the horn, and make something with it in the UK. Make laptops, make smart phones, make fridges, invest in that.

The problem is: Our Military has very advanced equipment. That means high cost of procurement and high cost of training. That's why we have 2 up to date aircraft carriers but only one crew. Even destroyers cost £1Bn each! Think we need a 'second tier' of cheaper weapons, ships and tanks, and personnel who don't need so much training (on specifics).
