When you don't have coqina as a base for saw palmetto and sea oats and seagrapes in front of a quality wall , sand will hit the fan , I'm in Wilbur by the sea.. bunch of sight seekers milling around homes that are crashed to the sea , did some volunteer work few weeks back on some rubble slides . Gotta maintain those walls , so the dune wildlife stays put.

Another way to tell ....if the grass grows it was a body of water. The grass NOT grow there had there not been water that close to the surface. Sand is not dirt.

Why can’t you pour a concrete retaining wall then pour sand over it to hide it? Erosion would stop but you would have to go pretty deep not to get undercut!
