I have a feeling Skyrim is going to be the last Bethesda game I will have ever bought. As much as I enjoyed Skyrim, Oblivion, and even Fallout 3, the trend in the quality of their games is obvious. Morrowind was the last game of theirs to fully meet (and exceed, by a lot) my expectations.

It gets annoying having the guards constantly tell you to stop shouting. Same would happen irl if you did that constantly in public (you'd probably just freak people out but lore-wise they'd just tell you to stop) I'm saying cause Starfield has not a single ounce of life in the npcs, like at all

If they really wanted to work on starfield should have waited for the next xbox release if they truly wanted seamless travel, last elder scrolls came out on a xbox 360... I'm sure series X would have handled a very large map with mid graphics and importantly keeping up with the lore and story. With starfield it was their first attempt and even a little while ago they mentioned they weren't sure what the game was meant to be. Elder scrolls game have some sort of direction.

​@@gnarsonThey fumbled massively, they had so many fans not just bethesda fans, plenty of casuals who loved skyrim talk about elder scrolls 6, it's hype was ridiculous after the hype they caused in 2018 as people thought it was time to get going, it was a guaranteed seller and they couldn't really get it wrong as long none of them have failed but they went with this risky attempt which has really put the final nail in the coffin. Especially when fans know tes 6 won't be out till 2030 which is obsurd. As they said 5+ years and we know with delays that most likely 7 years.

In Skyrim, even drawing out your sword would have made the guard nervous as you approach, and here in Starfield I was careful not to take my pistol out....lol..

@@Ardioss1 Look, if you landed on another planet, it would probably be boring and have nothing on it. It's ultra realism that the players want which is why I'm looking for the next Starfield game where I have to spend three hours filling out tax forms before giving up and contacting a CPA and I have to use a toilet every day or my character will defecate themselves. If something is boring, you are automatically given a free pass if it's realistic and that's what players want. They don't want fun. They don't want entertainment. They want to buy a light bulb at a space store (because one of the lights inside your ship went out) but you didn't double check to see if it was the right size for your ship's socket, so now you have to fly back to the store and go to customer service to return it.

People also seems to forget that just because its made by the same company doesnt mean its made by the exact same team . Think about it : from 2011 up to 2023 : how many in Todd 's team who made Skyrim stay up until 2023 for Starfield ? PUBLISHERS or studios brand is a thing but people working in it aren't necessary the exact same talented who used to work years ago . Just look at Obsidian for example : they made New vegas and then we got mid Outer World. Saw the team back then and how it is nowdays 😂

Outer worlds are decent but the whole thing felt like a prologue rather than a proper game. Plus they make pickpocket easier as all you need to do is stay out of line of sight (which warnings will appear if you do the deed)

I've recently experienced Idris Elba amazing acting in the new Cyberpunk expansion and the facial features in that game highlight the S tier acting in the scenes. It felt like I was there talking to Idris Elba in person. Meanwhile, Starfield facial expressions and soulless eyes are shockingly somehow worse than some of the Bethesda games produced before this game came out. "Oh it's just a Bethesda game" doesn't really work anymore in 2023.

Tbf that second Skyrim clip doesn’t show what you think it does. The guard isn’t saying to cast your “fancy magic” someplace else because you shouted, he’s saying it because you have spells ready. So your shout actually got ignored in the second clip.

As someone who preordered Cyberpunk and was so disappointed with it that I actually got a refund, the open world of night city was one of the legitimately great things I always appreciated about it. It speaks to how well designed and interesting that city was that it delayed my asking for a refund for a while - it was just anything basically outside of exploring the city that was a disaster.

Even if it was released in 2024 or even 2025 rather than being compared with Baldurs gate it will be compared to its predecessor which is happening right now

A lot of these I want to believe are bugs or a failed initiation. At least I hope cause how in the world do they not have guards reacting to us shooting? When even oblivion was more interactive that that.

its amazing how much they've improved, not only have they made a more interesting setting but they've also improved the ai to be more like people, good on them

Yeah, I mentioned the same thing. Really expected Bethesda to bring the quality after the disaster that was Fallout 76 launch, but they've barely made up the ground they lost when they launched that title it seems. Starfield feels like its an early 2010s game and compared with what's actually on the market seems really dated. It's why I refunded it in the end. Give it six months to a year for the mod community to do the job that Bethesda apparently isn't able to and then pick it up on sale. When you're asking $70-100 for a title I just expect a little more.

It’s a good game, it’s very slow in the first 12 hours but after that it’s pretty awesome. Plus with modding it’s very probable that it’s going to become one of the best video games ever. Also Bethesda never had a magic “touch”. They’re making the same exact quality for the most part (except Starfield isn’t at all as buggy as you expect of a Bethesda game), if anything, your tastes have changed. Give it a shot and actually try the game before you start ranting online about how terrible it is.

I mean, I don't know what people were expecting, StarField was made in the same engine as all of Bethesda's other games and that's why they all suffer from these types of issues. At least is really funny

This is the trash game i expected them to make. After playing oblivion all those years back, all i wanted was a Bethesda sci-fi game in space, but after seeing how terrible fallout 4 was, and hearing them say "this is nasa-punk" i knew 100% the game was going to be garbage. And i was right of course 😂.

Starfield is a typical Bethesda game. In a Piranha Bytes game like Elex, someone would long have said: “Put away that damn weapon”. And reacted accordingly if you didn't.

"We have to make a new game! We must fight! Load the assets!" "With what?" "Anything! Everything! Anything we have left."

I love games where NPCs will actually react to your actions if they hurt them, like how in Breath of the Wild if you just start swinging your sword at someone they’ll try to dodge, say something like “what are you doing?!” and iirc you can’t talk to them for a couple seconds after

A game was made with passion and love, compared to a massive project with no passion and love made by people who don't want to develop video games anymore or play games in the first place. I bet that the devs who made Skyrim barely 5% of them exist today in Bethesda.

I'll come back to Starfield when a modder takes the time and effort and combines all the 900 procedurely generated planets into the three planets that have main cities, fusing all the applicable quests and map/terrain, wipes/removes all the solar systems and puts them in a single solar system. What this game needs a good condensing. The three planets will be ones with the main cities (New Atlantis, Akila & Neon). Then you can have maybe a dozen planets that are solely for mining and resources. So all together about 15 planets. That way players that land on one of the main planets that have a main city will have a large map to explore and get lost in, rather than a bunch of small pockets because now - all those pockets will be combined to make a larger map. I'd do it myself if i knew anything about modding.

I understand your reasoning, but the game is meant for you to go out there and explore huge masses of unknown space, the fix should be making that viable and have more meaning. Not condensing everything to a single-star system - that's practically boring knowing that you were supposed to have multiple systems to explore. I mean your idea sounds cool and valid, but if you want to say what the game needs improvement on while maintaining it's vision, it's definitely not rearranging everything into just 3 big planets to explore and the rest just for resource gathering.

It seems only the quality got better

I love how there is legitimate lines of dialog from npcs saying not raise your weapon and stuff like that, but there isn't a consequence for doing so.

Honestly, what do you think about it? I like it but I don’t love it like I loved Skyrim and Fallout 4 when I first played them 😕

well technology advanced and that game is still running on 12 year old engine and has 12 yo bugs. Also its a huge lie with the exploration, just empty tiles with couple assets. Diablo the original had more random dungeons with mobs and items then this 2023 game has. Oh and the price 100$ cmon

Probably its skyrim its space, but, space is an illusion here. So, this is a 15% of skyrim with only dungeons/caves with star sky, thats why they called it "Starfield" i really don't understand why they don't call it "Illusionfield". Of course, they are liars.
