I hope she’s alright now. Hopefully the people who did that learned that you should never do that in any situation, but I highly doubt it.

Finally, a more rational person is speaking about this and not just blindly spreading hate to the fans who are much tamer compared to the outliers in this video. What's more exhausting about this situation is that I feel like I can't even like good stranger things content anymore without seeing a video mocking Eddie fans, or a swarm of comments being so negative and embarrassed over even the most standard fan-like behavior. If you're that traumatized by extreme fans, then don't give them more attention by constantly talking about it or bringing it up.

Fr, like in 6th grade I was a little goth girl. And like the same people who made fun of me where the "where's my goth gf" guys. Like people love a popular character whose part of a group, but then make fun of people in the same group irl.

the stranger things' fandom has gotten increasingly more cringe and less innocent and wholesome. I actually just recently started watching stranger things in 2022, mainly because I felt like I was missing out on the memes and jokes about it that were on social media. I remember that before I watched the series, there were so many wholesome and funny clips and edits of stranger things, but now, it's become so weird and sexualised for no reason! I understand how you might've got a crush on a character, even though I am guilty of that, but making excessively cringe and inappropriate edits and jokes about it, is just ridiculous! It's also weird that some people romanticise Billy, the actor who plays Billy, Dacre is actually quite attractive. But it's strange how the character in the series was so visibly racist and no one paid attention to that? He abused Max Mayfield and everyone just looked past that and only looked at how attractive he was. They loved him so much that some fans even cried when Billy died. Maybe I'm making a fuss out of nothing, but there's more lol. In season 4, the character, Jason Carver who is played by Mason Dye, got hate in real life because of how much people hated his character. Now, it's ridiculous to me how people would be willing to attack a celebrity in real life just because they didn't like the character they played in a series, but they would be so happy to support a visibly racist character? doesn't make sense to me!

I don’t know anyone who didn’t feel bad for Billy. Yeah he was a shithead asshole, but he was also seriously abused and had emotional trauma. Hurting people hurt people. It doesn’t make it right but it is a very human genuine reaction. So yeah after we saw how abandoned he felt with his mom leaving him alone with his abusive ass dad, yeah people are sad for him. So yes, I too cried when Billy Died. He never had the option to redeem himself like say Steve did. He was also in no control over her body and was probably terrified during his death.

I also really wanna add that a lot of these insane Eddie/Joe Quinn stans have started a massive hate campaign against Grace Van Dien (who plays Chrissy). They bully her relentlessly on her twitter and her tumblr, threaten to harm her, laugh at her past trauma, and spread rumors that she’s racist/transphobic/homophobic/ableist (even going as far as editing her old tumblr posts to make it look like she’s saying awful things). All because she’s good friends with the man they’re in love with lol! They’ve even tried making conspiracy theories about how Joe actually secretly hates Grace and can’t stand being around her. There’s SO much more, what I mentioned is just the tip of the ice berg, but these people need to be locked up LOL

Dude I remember at the start of the season being absolutely in love with eddie’s character because he was exactly the type of guy I was into with the same interests yknow, but at some point I just lost interest, like the other fans kinda annoyed me as childish as that is so I kinda distanced myself from his character and after awhile all hell broke loose and I felt embarrassed being associated with those people. The fandom post-season 4 sucks so much I’m pretty sure most people don’t even wanna call themselves stranger things fans anymore, but I guess that kinda happens with all popular modern fandoms, they suck.

nah for real, im a very big fan of the character and some of these just make me so incredibly uncomfortable. a lot of people who are just casual fans of the show or eddie himself now get so much hate for just existing, cringe or not, to the point where ive seen people take pictures of people minding their business with hellfire shirts in public to make fun of them. it's just awful i miss the fandom before season 4

Tbh i didn’t even think he would grow on me but it just happened. But so many of these fans are making it weird, I still like the character a lot but I hope things can chill out.

Also another thing; these rabid fans can be detrimental to an actors career too, especially stranger things actors. I remember in 2018 there was a movie with a bunch of kids in it and there was an interview where a director said expressly he didn't want "any of the stranger things brats" in it. I can't remember the movie name (I think it was Chucky??? I seriously can't remember) and it wasn't because of the kids but because fans of the show have always mobbed and hyped them up. There is such a thing as negative pull. Not all fans of course, but since season 1 stranger things has exploded to being almost overrated, that I think there's a reason you're only just now seeing Gaten and Noah in other projects now that they're older (Finn booked IT so soon after ST season 1 he got an early chance to separate himself from his Mike character) I really hope all this doesn't have negative effects on Joseph Quinn's career, because he is this popular because he's so good. Objectively he's a great actor, he brought so much to Eddie which is why all this insane stuff has happened, it's be a HUGE shame if his career stalled or was effected negatively because of this

I think that director is an outlier. If he actually called them brats, then he's a horrible person and I'm sure these actors don't want to work with him either. The careers of all the actors on this show have been really good outside of ST. The reason the younger actors haven't been in much until recently is because they were all in school and then the pandemic happened. Now that all of that's over, they're doing well. And Joseph Quinn said in an interview that, even before volume 2 came out, he was already getting opportunities he had never dreamed of, so I wouldn't worry too much about them.

I think Eddie genuinely was a great character with a well thought out design, it's just the fan base that completely ruined it.
