@@royvincent9250 I’ve been there too!! I told my wife I was coming home after doing some night fishing. As I was packing drag starts screaming on my big rod and reel setup. Had a 7 foot 152 pound alligator gar on the end of it! That was about a hour fight then went home lol.

Ps. I tried to fish them the same way you were, hiding the hook with skinned shrimp but they just weren't eating that day.

Good Ole Spade Fish!

Ok guys....no lie, just yesterday was chatting with a friend on facebook about fishing off that bridge. Talking about catching white trout...cleaning and cooking them right there. Hushpuppies and french fries with the trout just caught! Oh man some fine eating! Back then drove out on the bridge from the beach side and the kids loved it. Try a little white trout catch and cook!

So me and my buddy Daniel from work have been going out there every Friday for the past 4-5 weeks and have caught monster reds and specs and a bunch of other species including a a 20-25lb red snapper. We needed something new since Hurricane Sally took out the dock lights we used to fish.

Early again to watch the best fishing KZreadrs on the whole platform

It’s comical to watch Brandt catch something every minute, while CM Ron couldn’t catch a fish at RedLobster

Funny, I watched Ron put the whoopin' on Brant in a Kentucky pond, bass fishin'. And then he pulled out the epic prank, lol. Brant grew up there, he was also a guide. Ron is new to everything there. And he still catches some fish.

watch Ron's channel, he catches plenty of fish, those guys are my heroes, they are married and make a loving fish,the video stuff isn't easy, has to take a long time editing

Under the sunshine skyway about a year or two after it was hit I had the greatest fishing trip with spade fish . Love the video. Dad got frustrated like Brant and got those big ones with his cast net

Is the pier the old bridge from the Pensacola side. I used to fish the old bridge 59 years ago when I lived in GulfBreeze as a sixteen year old teenager.

Not only one of my favorite spots but that's my go to area there on the pier. I can't believe we have yet to bump into each other around here.

Great video once again. When I was a kid, that restaurant was called boy on a dolphin. But the beach side of the bob sikes bridge has always been pretty good. Especially if you’re throwing a net for mullet. That would be a good catch and cook... mullet and cheese grits with hush puppies.

Cool stuff. Back in my old off shore days I never missed an opportunity to put a few in the cooler if the rig we were fishing on had some on it. You're right though, very overlooked fish.

I bet they have stolen your bait. They're harder than sheepshead to hook, pretty tricky. Tiny hooks help. But I never ate one. And I haven't caught more than a couple. Mostly I've seen them spearfishing but I didn't think they were worth shooting.

Bob Sykes bridge one of my favorite places to fish. last time i was there i caught a 30 pound black drum

When i dive we see so many of those. They are so bright underwater.

Used to catch nice White Trout off that bridge when I was stationed there... Miss it ... Pensacola back on the bucket list of fishing holes.

We used to have Spade fish tournaments back in the 70's, the only rule we had was you had to use a Zebco 202 reel.

Haven’t tried spades yet but they’re beautiful and only caught small ones in a cast net but Galveston TX has some 12-14inchers

I saw that yankee rig with the road fish and I was really disappointed in you until I saw what happened. The wire, beads and big hook remind me of catching snook in front of tourists who were jealous because they caught hard heads and skates, lol. Good times. I never thought about eating spade fish. Now I'm curious.

Nice video!When I was there last month I used a sabiki rig and I was catch spadefish and gafftopsail cats like crazy.i made them fish tacos and they were BOMB!

When we were kids we would get them in the open top crab traps down at the pier in safety harbor we would eat the big ones they taste great.

I lived in New Orleans for awhile and quickly learned that they love heat in their food, no matter what it is. Celery helps cut the heat a little. Water does not nor milk. Try celery, bite a stalk of that... have you ever tried SWEET BABY RAYS BBQ SAUCE ???

I love the beach fishing of the bridge at pensacola Beach I caught some mulet last night

ive caught two of my onshore PB's there bull red and shovelhead shark and yes Ron publix chicken is good when its fresh and the rotisserie is pretty spot on to

I'm gonna have to agree with CMR on this: Publix fried chicken is the bomb! I used to work in a Publix deli and I still love it!

The fishing is great. I really enjoy the fishing. But the banter between these two is top notch.

Brant, I agree with you a 100% about flavor over heat when it comes to hot sauce. So I found some that fits the bill. Bulliard's Louisiana Hot Sauce. I found it at Grocery Outlet in Pace. I think you will like it!

In CMR’s defense Publix friend chicken is absolutely fire 🔥

I wasted almost a lb of shrimp on those spade fish at my local pier then I switched to Sabiki. I would catch 2-3 small ones and have a decent keeper. It's an awesome fight when you have a couple of those on a lighter setup.

when it comes to hot sauce, sweet tea takes the sting out... the sugar neutralizes the heat better than milk

Love catching spades and blues here in NC, the fort fisher/ Kure Beach area. My dad has a place. If you guys are every in NC.

I knew it was a spade fish. They are good eating , they have greyish meat but don’t let that scare you . They are delicious.
