This may be naive, but I do believe at least Apple is intending on going that route considering the amount of engineering they’re putting into their chips being able to do local AI compute. Apple is not a saint, but they have shown some level of commitment to privacy. The reason their maps have such bad traffic data for instance is because they don’t collect the same type of data that Google does, so while Apple maps used to be worse it was my preferred choice. Now Google maps is unusable from a UX experience so all is well that ends well.

Grid computing spyware. The AI chip performs grid computing; your machine does the crunching on your electricity, and your bandwidth. They want that data and they get it with Copilot.

Yea .. "entirely on device" is for now, just to make sure most are convinced about their data privacy so they can lock users in this copium. And then they'll make this feature permanently enabled. And then slowly include a backdoor to their cloud servers to capitalise on regular people's data.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Windows, is in fact, Copilot/Windows, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Copilot plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another paid component of a fully functioning Copilot system made useful by the Recall spyware, awful PowerShell and irrelevant system components comprising a full OS as defined by Bill Gates. Many computer users run a modified version of the Copilot system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Copilot which is widely used today is often called Windows, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Copilot system, developed by Microsoft. There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the Copilot operating system: the whole system is basically Copilot with Windows added, or Copilot/Windows. All the so-called Windows installations are really installations of Copilot/Windows!

Recall seems like a great feature for a device you want to use it for.
The Johansson controversy is screwed up. It's crazy how he actually approached her *formally* only to then go "okay, you rejected my offers, I'm going to use it for free then" I imagine if there's a lawsuit, there will be some transparency in regards to what they used for that model.
