These have got to be the WORST Oil Pastels!

Ойын-сауық

Drawing with Faber Pastel Oil Pastels for the first time!
This was a quick video because tbh I had such an emotional time using these. Not sure why these oil pastels were so bad to use. I know that if I took my time I could try my best to make something presentable, but to be honest they are not worth the money at all!
Check out last weeks video!

I tried to use them but they crumbled and would not blend well at all, and like you said WOULD NOT STICK TO THE PAPER 🤬 I felt discouraged and chalked it up to bad technique. Fast forward 2 years later and now I know better. Ironically, I purchased the red kid's set with the handle for $3 on clearance and those are much smoother and more workable. I feel SOO much better!! I bought these oil pastels for myself for Christmas bc I was so inspired by your art. I like all my other Faber Castell art supplies, so why not their oil pastels? Wrong. I was frustrated just swatching them, but I was like "maybe I'm just new to oil pastels". Next day, I tried to draw a sunset and I attempted to blend the colors with my finger, then a tissue, and I nearly ripped my sketchbook. After I've seen so much of your oil pastel content, I knew these ones were 🗑. I donated them today, only to see this video confirming that I made the right decision 😂😂😂😂

But how do you *really* feel about threm? 😂😂 You crack me up, Bean. Love your honesty. I checked out other “reviews,” (most of which were swatching videos) and I have to say you are spot on! It looks like they are too dry to blend and that they leave a lot of crumbs. No bueno. Thanks for this video-these are the art supplies that frustrate beginners into quitting. 💜💜

These were the first oil pastels I used a couple of years ago (picked them up randomly because I was new and curious about all sorts of mediums) and it was so frustrating I gave up on oil pastels until recently when I got the Mungyo Gallery set! I hate it when I see bad pastels recommended for students, nobody will find any joy in learning with these! By the way, I've seen many good reviews and artists working with the Paul Rubens ones and I'd love to hear your opinion on them too.

Started trying to pick up oil pastels and bought these because it’s Faber castel a brand I trust and became discouraged after a while because no matter how I tried to follow tutorials or do my own thing I quickly realized I couldn’t blend or even layer with them. I thought I was just bad till I decided to give it another go and realized it was mostly just the pastel.

Fun review! Ever tried out Caran d'Ache Neocolor? I tried out small set of their neocolor2, they are water soluble, very pigmented and opaque, liked them a lot. Neocolor1 are probably more your cup of tea as they are waxy.

Hi! I’m new to oil pastels, and found your channel not too long ago. I love your work, and you’re very entertaining! 😊 I was wondering if you’ve tried Master's Touch Premium Soft Oil Pastels that we can get at Hobby Lobby. They’re inexpensive and creamy, and also received good reviews. I was just wondering what you think or might think of those. Thank you!

No but why was this hilariously entertaining to watch 😭 Why is that pastel built like a crayon?? That blue pastel was fighting for it's life!
