As for the lyrical meaning, you are correct. He is talking to himself, not another human being. About acknowledging your hidden parts of the self, listening to them, accepting them. Tear the mask away and be true to yoursefl (and eachother). He sings about understanding and respecting the different perspectives that live inside yourself. There's also words of anger, impatience, lies we've been fed since we were little, lies we've told ourselves. "Grit your teeth and bear it" - might be burdens we carry around, or a way of saying "you can do this, you can work through this pain" - and "stand your ground and mean it". Don't betray yourself. We all have a little voice whispering inside us, to guide us.

Wohoo! Nicely done, it's a long song 😄 this was released as a first single for their album released last year, and people were like "oh no, not an 11 minute song as a first single!" - but it worked out soooo well for them! Better than ever. And with the video too, that is a beautifully done video. The design and environment in the video they also used to create a computer game called "War of Being" (playable demo is out on Steam). Like you say, Daniel really showcases his vocal range and versatility in this song! It's a good display of what the band can do. The whole album is highly praised among fans and critics.

That was fantastic! So musically complex it held my interest all the way through. And the lead vocalist did an absolutely stunning job on this. I'm not a fan of growls, but in this case, I feel that they were used as they should be. The way he switched from clean vocals, to harsh vocals, to growls served to emphasize what he was singing. This band is a real find.
