    “Honestly” is not the right word. Bro sound like a teenager high on koolaid. Those picks are not the worst (super overpriced obv), of course not the best either, but the guy portraits it like the decade’s misery.

    Try to find. felt pics for bass... yes. Felt, like cloth, but super stiff! they make a sound like you're playing with your fingers , no sloppy snap or buzz, no plastic or urethane pick type sound on the wound strings thru the pickups! The 1 felt pick i have is like 2 quarters thick, but tapers down like a normal pick. I believe they are made for acoustic guitars? But they make a Peavy bass sound dang wholesome! 😂! I haven't looked for more yet .....but I definitely need to start searching...thry are gonna be a "go to" pick for me!

    You can get a closer 12 string sound from taking 3 thin picks, flipping the one in the middle up, and gluing them all together.

    These picks are hilarious. They are actually quite good for people like me who have numbness in the picking hand, as extra texture all-round is really useful. Tried one of these and actually kinda loved it. Then I tried to buy a pack and it was like £30 plus £15 shipping and I was like "noooooooo". (though this was before they were widely available) If they just sold them as like picks to try and help people with minor hand problems I would be totally onboard. But the gimmicky descriptions and price just scream "It's Jellyfish pick again".

  • @bubbablake3983

    If you have hand numbness, perhaps either the carbon fiber Dunlop Jaz III Max Grip or a selection from purple plectrums are a possible good suggestion. I know purple plectrums are expensive, but I'm having neurological issues as well and they've been live savers just to get playing proper again. They also last a long time and feel quite unique. Just don't buy their 30mm or whatever thickness, jeez that's a freaking doorstop that makes me want to buy a bass just to utilize it properly lol

  • @thehowlingjoker

    @thehowlingjoker

    7 ай бұрын

    @@bubbablake3983 Yes, purple plectrums are great. The one I use is if I remember correctly 20mm. Personally, I don't like the max grip picks, though that isn't because of the grip itself. I'm simply not a fan of the materials I have tried within the max grip range.

  • @bubbablake3983

    @bubbablake3983

    7 ай бұрын

    @@thehowlingjoker yes I only like the carbon fiber ones, which I guess are becoming a bit obfuscated by their other max grips. I'm planning on getting a smaller thickness than my 14 or 12 or whatever. There's so many different options I have to look at my order history to remember which is what lol

    After seeing the ads so many times on Facebook, I finally caved and bought the Stealth XL pick. I actually really like it. The XL is almost identical in size and shape to the Dunlop FLOW pick, which I love, but the Stealth XL's bevel is, of course, different. I can't claim to be any kind of "lead" guitarist; I mostly just play old-school metal rhythm guitar (like old Judas Priest) for fun, and I've found that the Stealth XL is extremely good for fast alternate picking. Acoustik Attak's other offerings, though ... yeah, WTF? (Wanted to add that I also have some of those Prodigy picks. Don't like them. But that's just personal taste.)

    I like the Stealth XL picks as well. A lot actually, so I'm sticking with it, and gonna buy a big pack. On the acoustic you can really get some different voicings out of it. Some of the other pick models were just bad.

    Been using the stealth for like 6 months now as my only pick, devout jazz 3 user previously. I agree that the dots are uncomfortable for the way most of us hold a pick but don't really notice it now? I think it would be more comfortable if the pick was a little thicker and they used 3 indented lines for grip instead of raised dots. I tried going back to my previous picks and some other jazz 3 styles and they just didn't feel as good. I just really like the material these are made of I guess.

    Thanks for this. I almost bought some just because of how overpromoted they are. They made it seem like they actually had a pick I have any use for (basically a tri-corner stubby with extra grip.). They do not. I’m better off just cutting grooves into the picks I already like.

    I actually really like the Stealth. I have trouble holding on to picks and the Stealth's concave shape and bumps make it one of the easiest picks to grip for me. Just wish it was made from a harder material (maybe something similar to a Dunlop stubby) because they wear out really fast if you are heavy handed. You didn't try their Devin Townsend signature pick?

  • @Guitarnivore
    @Guitarnivore8 ай бұрын

    I tried some stealth picks and they were okay, but like you said, just like a jazz pick. Also, the tips don't last very long if you're a heavy rhythm player. I never liked the grip either. The rest always just looked gimmicky to me.

    I don't have any sort of stake in the game here, but I do think the "stealth" picks are pretty good for people that have trouble maintaining a grip. My skin is always really dry no matter what I do or how much moisturizer I use, and when I play, my pick is always shifting and rotating, and it's really damn annoying. I've tried tortex, I've tried max grip, the only thing I can think of is to get one of the bigger triangle size picks that I'll just simply.. have more room on? I got a pack of the Stealth 3's, and the bumps seem to help a bit, so I'm all for it in that regard. As for their claim to boost ranges and such? Nah, that's bullshit, and it should be called out.

    For most of my playing life I’ve used a .88 and 1.14 tortex. No nonsense tortex. Then I tried a jazz iii tortex and thought that was pretty nice, which turned into a whole crusade of finding the right pick for about 2 years. I found the ultex sharp and was convinced it was the “one”, until I found the tortex iii, and then I found the jazz iii flex, then I decided to get one of those things with compartments from the craft store, you know those things, and categorised all my picks and in the process my playing got fucking worse and worse cause I was all muddled up until I went catatonic. Then I found my tortex 1.14, my no nonsense pick, and I was finally able to play like used to. Moral of the story? Pick company’s want your money.

    That thing about how people hold their picks tho... I have never liked that. I think people should practice learning their instrument... and hold your pick comfortably. Ignore any weirdo that says that isn't how you're "supposed to hold it" because it's art and that person is a creature who never leaves their bedroom. Btw... None of this is pointed at Judy. He didn't say people should do that. He just said that's how they usually do or whatever. I'm just making a point.
