These Fish Are SO AGGRESSIVE | Lake Wendouree Lure Fishing

In todays episode, I flicked some lures at Lake Wendouree in the Victorian city of Ballarat, and I caught a nice chunky Redfin on an orange Blue Fox Spinner and Glenn got a similar sized reddie on a mud eye pattern fly. It was a slow session, but still heaps of fun. I hope you enjoyed🤙🎣.

Nice reddy. Try and support them under the belly rather than lip holding them with no support. You can break or dislocate the lower jaw easily. I the fish twists or wriggles, it is a problem for the fish in eating, but more so in breathing as thy use the jaw to pump the gills. If you must hold the jaw to control a bigger fish, hold it under the stomach also, otherwise, just hold it under the gut. Also, as an aside, when you swim a freshie, just support it under the belly, not holding the jaw and swishing it like you see many people do. With freshwater fish, their whole battle is to NOT take water in through the mouth as this will draw too much water into them and their salt balance will be wrecked. salt water fish are always breathing in through the mouth so they ca drink to keep their boy water up or they dehydrate i the salt. The idea of jaw locking and pulling the fish through the water is from the deep sea game fishers hunting marlin, tuna and mackeral, who are ram breathers, so essentially they just ope their mouth and swim forward to breathe. This does not work so well with cod or other fresh water releases because they are trying to pump their jaw and NOT swallow a bucket full of water.

@@AndrewFishman is it the same with trout?

@@coopersfishingadventuresmore so with trout. I try to avoid, and you will notice that Robbie does too, even lifting a trout from the water by the line. I just operate on "Best not to do it" principle. Wet your hand an hold under the belly is the best. Even when using lip grips, I just use them to grip the jaw to control the fish , then I lift the fish by the body, not the grips.
