    My main monster in RF4 was just a simple hornet that I got at the beginning of the game. Named him Monty. He was fast, did range damage, and could do seal damage. I trained that dude up to be the most overpowered thing in that entire game. He'd be taking down bosses and giving them every status ailment like it was nothing. He was more than just a pet to me too. He was like my son. Monty helped me get through some difficult times just by venting to him, and him just being there for me. Keep that one starter pet, people. They're going to be your most faithful and strongest ally. Oh and his level 10 honey always fed for a good price over time.

    I understand that you're mostly talking about monsters that are good for the items they drop, but I would highly recommend catching a Siren for its battle potential. It has 200% resistance to water and 75% resistance to all other elements, which is ridiculous. It also has a singing attack that is an AOE and inflicts MULTIPLE status ailments. I think it's easily one of the best monsters to bring as a battle companion. You can find one in the Yumina ice area (on the frozen river part I think). I don't know its liked item, but I managed to tame it by first "catching" it with the Seed ability, letting it fight for me until it died and then revived, and then gave it a recovery potion (this method has gotten me a couple monsters actually! It seems to work pretty well if you don't know or don't have a monster's preferred gift).

    Tamed a silver wolf in this game as SOON as I saw how badass it looked. The fangs it drops are just a bonus. I've raised my wolf (Juno) to be a killer in battle, and its probly thanks to her that I've beaten every boss first-try so far. Reminds me of my killer Weagle I had in RF4. ... I really wanted RF5 to have weagles ;_;

    I've noticed that often the gift they want is nearby. Eg: for the woolies, the first ones you encounter there was a specific grass near them (think it was the blue plant). One of them and no brushing worked to tame one instantly. Then for the squirel ones nearby, there was a stick near one, I lifted that and gave it and again-instantly tamed.

  • @simon4casy

    @simon4casy

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's just because it was your first one. Try that after you tamed 3. That's when you'll start reaching the cap of tries to tame a monster. If the monster refuses your gift 10 time then that's it, that monster cannot be tamed anymore. As far as what monsters prefer that doesn't really matter, I tamed Cluckadoodles and Buffalmoos with grasses and probably the only monsters that actually need specific items to tame are the boss monsters, just like in RF4.

    It is amazing to see how different the new RFs are compared to the old ones, i am currently playing Rf2 after having done RF1 and it is very different. Items for crafting can only be dropped by killing the mobs over and over, and you also need to kill the right ones, so a "Scorpion Tail" and a "Scorpion Pincer" are both dropped from 2 seperate scorpion mobs. Also i am glad that later on things like Milk, Eggs, Honey etc. are dropped daily, in the older ones its every 4 days, and the only way you can tell is if the woolys have their fur back on, for Buffamoos, Bees or Cuckadoodles (i think they are called that) its trial and error or remembering how many days its been (just harvest them same day as Woolys, its easier to tell). Thank you so much for the videos on RF and HM!

    Really their was a waiting period for the mon harvest. Hmm I feel like Tides Of Destiny Really simplified the farming part probably why it's one of my favorite I played. Since I feel like every day you could milk,cut and gather eggs well I think you still need to tool equip like shars for wooly and I think their was a milker for your cows. Hmm but it's probably also feeding them so if they are happly feed than you can get their meatial every day. But ya it is nice seeing the changes between games.

While I've heard this game looks a bit basic/outdated in some ways, it still looks great to me and I can't wait to play it! Also, I really can't tell when the framerate stutters unless it starts getting really laggy, so I'm not too bothered about that either! Hey Josh, I love all of your content and it is so helpful. Thank you for all the content regarding all farming games. I didn't see anyone making a video about magic plant sword and shield in RF5. Can you do a video on magic plant sword and shield covering these questions and anything that you found about them: 1. Are the stats of the sword and shield randomize each harvest based on luck or is it based on the plant level to get the best status? 2. What can you do with them other than using them for weapons/shield? For example, can you get something in return if you show these items to someone? 3. Can you upgrade them like other weapons? If yes, what are the best materials to upgrade them.

  • @gwouru

    @gwouru

    2 жыл бұрын

    plant level equals weapon level... so you can't upgrade them at all if you get a level 10 seed, and harvest that. stats are random, based on available weapons and shields in the game... I got a shield with zero stats though, on my first one. probably a bug. they're an easy way to potentially get the best gear in the game, through farming. Otherwise, you can use them as a cheap source of level 10 items to get max level bonus on upgrades. you can upgrade them, if they're not level 10.

    Hi Josh! Thanks for the video tips 😁 I’ve placed hundreds of hours into RF4 but it’s been a while since I played it so this is a great refresher for me. Question: In the long run, are monsters or humans better partners in the long term? I remembered in RF4, in early game, monsters are great but later on humans far out skill monsters in post-game dungeons if you give them great equipment.

    If they kept the same old formula, the theoretical limit is a few thousand levels for monsters. NPC will always scale higher because they get equipment slots and each of those slots can be broken themselves. I'm in post-game and monsters still do fine, just need levels. just have fun :)

  • @bluedart

    You were on point with this one Josh. Maybe it's because you exorcized your tooth demons. Queen's Jaw is a 1/8 chance, and Gold Wolves do give an item-Gold Wolf Fangs 1/4 of the time. Clutch correction with the Woolies and Fleeceys. Their FP is really annoying to raise early game on account of Shears being nearly 2k. Those [Hass Leaves] sell for 2.5k at level 10 by the way. OP new monster since it's a 100% item. This game only lets you try to tame each monster up to 10 times, then it'll always fail. Probably worth mentioning. I know a lot of people kept trying and got fairly upset when they first played. So I never hear anyone talk about this, but monsters in this game have something akin to EVs from Pokémon. You can buff up their HP, STR, VIT, or INT by beating certain wild monsters with them in your party. I'm sorry, but why? I did this once, and it was a total waste of time. There's also a mechanic where you can give your monsters one item a day and have it permanently affect things like its elemental (or physical) resistances-even allowing you to make them absorb literally all types of attacks. You can even make them inflict status conditions and absorb HP while attacking. I did this with a Kyuubi once. Trust me, it's a waste of time. Especially since the bugger just spams fireball. Allegedly, hitting a monster with a love-element weapon 4 times makes it easier to tame as well. However, in my last playthroughs of RF4/5 I didn't brush anything, and it didn't take me longer to tame the 20 something monsters I wanted-and I only used Turnip Seeds. I think brushing might be placebo. Paralyzing them helps you keep up with them though, since they can't run very quickly. Why is a single aspect of this game so deep? Is this why I love these games?

    Hey, friend! I'm fairly new to Rune Factory (only played 4 before this and was kinda on the younger side and less invested than I am now when I played so I didn't pick up much). I have a question about something in your comment. With the "you can only tame each monster 10 times" does that mean 10 times over the course of the whole game even if you release some of the others or is that a "you can only tame 10 of each monster at a time" thing?

  • @bluedart

    @bluedart

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@astridcreates1843 You can only *try* to tame any single spawned-in instance of a particular monster 10 times. Of course, you can simply try another one after that. They just go straight to "skull" when you give them an item after 10 tries. Didn't mean to scare you with an ambiguous sentence.

    I’m hoping that you did find it eventually because it’d suck if you’ve been wondering the last two months, but in case you haven’t (or for any future viewers with the same question), on the friendship menu screen, if you press A on a monster (or villager) you can bring up their detailed data including level and equipment. Then you can press either the analog stick or L/R (at the moment my brain’s pulling a blank) to keep going through those screens, rather than have to go back and individually select each one. Ah, the things this game doesn’t explain. Speaking of which, for crafting tables that have multiple functions (the forge, the crafting table, and the cooking appliances once you unify them,) you can use the same L/R to go from, say, spears to long swords rather than going back to the ‘should I craft’ prompt. I think you still have to select the ‘upgrade a weapon/accessory’ manually, but if you’re going to craft a lot of things or thinking about what weapon to make first if you don’t have enough of an item to make everything, it definitely streamlines things!

You Still get xp for failing, and you can repeat this for as long as you want without using any useful materials. If you stock up on chocolate to make hot coco for RP, you can level all skills to max in one day.

    Monsters you should tame includes the bolt ducks, they can produce the thunderbird feather AND have a decent combat ai. Tricky Muck drops poison powder which is specifically useful for boosting your alchemy. The noticable AI difference between a lot of these animals is that the insect and plant AI is actually really good. They share a similar AI pattern as the Magicians where they hang further back and prefer ranged attacks. Plants have multi-shot, they should not be underestimated early on if you skip -> Nine-Tail AI includes a melle charge ability with 2 unique ranged abilities, arguably the most useful and effective combat pet in the game. You were wrong in THIS particular video about the wolves section 15:30 . . . You have ONE wolf and 3 coyotes. The Hunter gold variation of the silver wolf found in the Thundering Wastes produces the GOLD fang, same as in Rf4. Wolf AI has elements of hit and run baked in, if you just need a distraction they will do it well.
