The rarity of pets does not factor in when I choose. I choose purely based on aesthetic. In fact, it wasn't until someone told me 8 hours after I had gotten it, that I knew my Baba Yaga drop today is the rarest skilling pet.

i liked the video, however, doesnt it seem pretty obvious theres not going to be many event/seasonal locked pets because of its discontinued nature? It would've been cool to see more in game pets like Vinny.

I obtained Vinny shortly after Lost Grove came out, but while it indeed is one of the rarest pets there is, don't forget about Eddy, which has a what was it, 1/25600 drop rate? (While on task, because you can't access Edimmu without) then there's Nipper with a 1/30,000, and of course Corgi who was only available for a short amount of time doing the Diamond Jubilee event. I was going to also mention the spirit dragon pet (that people nowadays know as Revenant Dragon) but you did mention why that wouldn't be a fair comparison given its many other forms which technically doesn't make it a single pet. Howbeit we could instead replace it with the Abyssal Hound, but I digress. Amazing video as always, keep up the bloody good work, and thank you for including Vinny!

Thanks for telling me about these! I did actually check all of them out, but turns out even these are not as rare as we'd hope. Though I don't have specific numbers, the sources I talked to in the PvM community insisted they are somewhat common - plus the added fact that the very popular PvM community set targets to obtain these pets, I'd be surprised if they were to be on the list. Abyssal Hound was also at first on the honourable mentions list, but I believe people are getting confused by the listed drop-rate of 1000 in 150,000 - which essentially is just 1/150 in the higher levels.

@@Aberrantly Hard to know about specific holiday pets, but keep in mind the Corgi was released during a fairly popular time for the game in terms of players - and was advertised as the update of the week. Wouldn't be surprised if thousands went for it at the time, as players do with any update :P

What I have learned from MMO's is they start to go downhill when they start releasing pets and mounts. Then they release bigger and bigger ones and its a never ending cycle until the game is confusing as fuk and dies out.

That was definitely an interesting bit of trivia for the Shadow Dragon pet. As someone who has it (and loves to use it with the Shadow Dragoon armor override because fashionscape is the true endgame and why not match your ridiculously giant pet) it really is just the better drake given how bad the Fire Drake recolours are.

I suggest at least a livelong ban and possibly torture for anyone using drake pets during double xp in any of the highly populated locations (priff, ge, combat acadamy, effiency experts clan world)

i'm pretty sure the WWF snow leopard cub is also among the rare pets. very little people donated the 5bonds needed back then during the event not to be mistaken with the big yak track version

I have one too :) It was in the times when bonds were relatively cheap and there was not much MTX content like Yak tracks etc. Many players were eager to spend some coins for cute kittycats while supporting an animal charity.

Now I kind of want to try to go for the Vinny pet... Great video!

I actually have Vinny, got it quite early on I think... Even though I don't need the xp, I still do the D&D every week. I just love the area, and I don't do slayer... To me it's my weekly chance of exploring the area, chasing some floating balls 🤣 Whenever I show the pet to people, they seem to not have known about it's existence. But still, I never thought about this pet actually being quite rare. Now I come to think of it, my husband has been joining me on the D&D for over a year now and he still doesn't have Vinny. Hm...

Loba, the werewolf puppy from the 2021 Halloween event, is my go-to follower and familiar override. Her backstory isn't particularly interesting, just that she was an orphan who got into trouble and needed someone to adopt her, but god damnit, that melted my little heart and completely justified the _bullshit grindfest_ I had to endure to get 9000 Halloween points and adopt her. Honestly, I kinda hope Jagex will release more versions of her in future Halloween events, like adolescent and adult werewolf versions. She's adorable as a puppy, but I want her to be able to grow up like other pets too.

I use the commander porkins because it has an incredibly tiny click box only clickable looking from straight above. This makes it so my pvm friends won’t mess up their bladed dive, so it’s technically the optimal pet overide

I think it's kind of cool to have my favorite boss pets following me around. I always have my nex pet with me.

I feel. Like the rev pets should definitely been included. I see more of every other pet and rarely see rev pets.

I agree. I've only ever seen one Rev pet and the player had over 190k Rev kills. It was Insane lol.

I have a Sockroth and since achieving it, they have discontinued the pet. I don’t see many other people having it follow them, but then again they are plenty other beneficial pets out there. When I’m not using my lorehound, I always have my Sockroth following behind me 🙂

I really hope OSRS expands into more pet content. I love how RS3 has a pet for every skill.

i think if we include pet skins, the molten zuk pet would probably be one of the rarest currently obtainable pets, due to the time commitment of doing 200 hardmode zuk runs or more, combined with the pvm skill to kill hardmode zuk which while admittedly not as high as some people claim, is a fair barrier to a lot of people

Before even watching I'm going to assume Golden Gnome pets are on the list.

i got vinny, I figured 1/100 drop rate was pretty goods, and i would get it eventually and when i did i could stop going there once a week, in the end it didnt take more than a few months for me to get it :)

I won my shadow drake from the naming contest. It just feels that extra bit more unique knowing I have something in the game.

I run with Snowflake because I like pets which actually look like sidekicks/party members and not just a weird miniature version of something bigger. I also like Dojo Mojo, Dragon Wolf and Ghostly. Bisdi and Ambi are the exception of what I said, their size is right.

You missed out the fire hound that was obtained by buying a pc magazine that could only be obtained from that event

Honestly what about the Snow Leopard pet? To date i've only seen 1 person with it through all my in game and discord interactions. The event wasn't a big one acting more as a fundraiser and it required 5 bonds donated (with 0 rewards in return) to get it. While nowadays i'd guess lots of players would get it 2015 was a different time. Now while i'm sure plenty of players got it only players that exist in a bit of a wealthier class would actually get it, being able to buy/throw 5 bonds away easily. Of those how many would be banned/quit. Maybe not the rarest but it's probably up there nowadays.

It's crazy that amidst things like "must win a golden gnome" there's one that's just "nobody likes this D&D."

Eddy was an interesting one to see until the raptor update. Spawning elites became too easy due to the already in place mechanics of slayer tasks.

its belived that the pet unlocked with the shadow egg is 1/50 000 shadow reef lucky charms, and with it beeing a 1/20 or 1/50 chance for the lucky charm to proke that makes the dr for the pet 1/1m to 1/2.5m

I wouldn't rule it out, but they might not re-release it before there's a fitting promotion or update for it... Which could take some years :P

I also have Vinny. Didn't even know it existed and got it by sheer chance. I don't use it b/c I don't think it's cute. I like collecting pets, but I don't/rarely use the one's that: are ugly (Vinny, Baba Yaga's hut), flap around (grown drakes and birds), make annoying noises or have annoying movements, have an attitude, are weird to keep as pets (like the Ilujanka pioneer: a humanoid who follows me around like a chihuahua? Nope, don't like it), walk in a way that seems uncomfortable to them (mostly the drakes), have sad emoji's (why does Rover die with a sad whimper when you dismiss him?!), are too big (lions and tigers and bears, oh my), are too small (little robin), or are being used by everyone else b/c they got them at the same current event. I may have too many thoughts about digital pets:)

Literally the best rs3 youtuber by a mile If Will ever stops making videos, the game keels over and dies within a year. It has been fortold

Krar jnr spawned right in front of me when my iron was new, been chasing vinny since too using weekly tickets

I got the vinny pet my very first time at the d&d didnt even realize it was a rare pet

i use nex pet because it looks cool, its a semi-hard boss and i like killing nex

I actually had insane luck on the Vinny pet. I got it on main account and alt account within only 2 or 3 weeks.

Wasn't expecting vinny here, i do have it, it did took me a year,

I think a lot of players have tried out Wisps of the Grove a couple of times and from the comments here I don't think it's too uncommon that people actually do it weekly. For nothing else then just for "completing" the content. I got Vinny within a couple of years so probably around drop rate. I don't think it is as rare as you make it.

I’ve been hunting Vinny since I was 17 years old I’m 21 going on 22 this year. I’ve used a total that I can confirm of 35 weekly D&Ds tokens and still no pet. I’ve used more then 35 tokens I just don’t know how many.

I'ma be honest I bought the drake to be a dick, before w84 ca went down to 1 tile render for players my phone would lag so much and my laptop at the time. So now I just roam with it no lag cause I now have a gaming pc
